Oh yes. Davy Jones was worth the price of admission alone, imo.
Verbinski certainly isn't lacking for imagination (not just based on Pirates, but also Rango), which is one of the major reasons I'd support him for this.
Yeah, the only problem is his schedule. Unless he's like del Toro and a huge multi-tasker, it depends how Gore deals with the post-production for "Lone Ranger". I know the film had gone through many issues, resulting in a ballooning budget and delays, so we'll see.
But I think Gore is good as long as he has a good writer by his side, we're golden. Also, he's excellent with CGI (Davy and his crew) and he's fairly practical too, using as many locations or sets as possible. That's a good thing.
