:o Son, just don't. I wrote a book. She'd pick me over ou just because of that.

Now if only I could get the damn thing published, maybe she'd notice me :csad:

Another hole in Devin's article is this: We love movies from the past, including the 70's which was a much more gritty and cynical decade of movies than..let's say the 50's. But it remains the most influential.

Wow, the holes in Devin's article are enough to suck the Narada in all over again. Love it how he ends it with a quote from TDK. And I see he still needs some help comprehending that TDK's ending has the exact same element that he's praising the Avengers for.

Guys, why is such a big deal being made about Devin's article? He has an opinion, and articulated it well enough. The Avengers IS a more optimistic and colorful film than The Dark Knight, and I really don't see how an argument can made for otherwise. Whether or not it is better is where debate comes, despite it being a totally subjective conversation.

I hate to quote myself, but what the hell:
Why does there seem to be this online rivalry between the two? Shouldn't we, the fans, be embracing the fact that we live in a time where The Avengers and Batman are actually in movies that people love? Last night the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises was released, and the Internet is ablaze with debates and arguments about which will be the "better" film. Why can't both be great?

These two films are wholly unique from one another. They both represent conclusions: The Avengers is a 5-year saga coming together, and The Dark Knight Rises is the Nolan-Batman trilogy reaching its end. The Avengers opens new doors, The Dark Knight Rises closes them. They are two very different movies, occupying two very different universes. They are incomparable. I don't expect to feel the same when watching both, and that's absolutely okay. I love films because they are dreams come to life...and dreams are never the same.
Also, not that the amount of time TDKR is mentioned in Devin's article is exactly zero.

Yeah, i prefer diversity in my comic book movies. I fully embrace it.

That all great, but Devin's article (and past articles) advocates the exact opposite of what you're both saying, so...

I don't know. It's a weird time for The Dark Knight because there is a weird backlash towards Nolan's Batfilms as of late, even from some bloggers. Maybe it's due to The Avengers. But with any internet backlash, none of them lasts forever.

With Nolan supposedly being involved on some level with the next Batman film. Is there any chance of Bale playing Batman again?

The backlash has been there since 2010. It's only natural. I expect TDKR will receive an even greater backlash.

I really doubt. I think Bale wants to move on too.

Except this backlash for The Dark Knight has been around for years. :funny:

Amazing Spidey is released 2 weeks prior to TDKR and there are so much trailers and posters out there that I lost track. By all means, just give us some goddamn posters and HQ stills already. I don't even expect TV spots before the end of June but this is getting reaaaaaaaaaally boring.

.....And the whining continues.

You know what they're giving us? A movie.

With Nolan & his wife as producers I doubt it be a reboot.

There's a WB press conference that I'm too lazy to find right now that says it's a reboot. Also, I don't see why Nolan and Thomas's involvement excludes it from being a reboot.

Sooooo, people are getting bored by lack of news? May I suggest in the most condescending way possible going out for a coffee with their friends instead of blaming WB or Nolan for doing what has been going on for years in cinema marketing-wise, aka going the standard marketing route?

It'll be a quasi reboot. Same continuity, but with a different style, hopefully. The next director needs to bring his own vision, instead of trying to copy someone elses.

And there is zero chance Bale will be back.

Same continuity? I don't know where you get your info from, but that's not at all likely to happen.

Well, unless Bats dies i think it's a possibility. I don't want to see another origin story. Have the new films start with Batman already in action.
