Batman should switch to a James Bond style, with each movie being it's own stand-alone, self contained story. This allows an easier transition between actors and directors. Start small with a villain like The Riddler and focus on Batman's detective skills. Eventually you can escalate to more supernatural villains like Mr. Freeze.

Reposting this from the Tusi, cause I really need the info if anyone's got it:

Ok, this is an exciting day for me. Just bought tickets to London to watch TDKR on its premiere day! I haven't done something like this before and I probably won't do it again (especially if/when Greece goes bankrupt), but TDKR is the one movie to do it.

Now... Any of you ladies and gentlemen have a list of true IMAX screens in London? And is the info I got about TDKR ticket pre-sales starting in June correct?

Google it?

I didn't see any bashing in Kevin's article. The comments? Yes. But the actual article was humourous, such as the claim that the N Batman films distance itself from their origins.

While that works for a perfectly detached character like Bond, who has constant female conquests- I want to see evolution and growth from the psyche/character of Bruce/Batman. I want to see him fall in love with Selina, with Talia. I want to see him struggle with adopting a boy and taking responsibility for training him, or the blame for losing Jason Todd. I want continuity, but without handcuffing the Batman property down to one specific style or director. In that way, I want the Bond formula...I don't want each one to be completely self-encapsuled, though.

I agree, although I'd prefer trilogies with Bond-like continuity.

You want to go to the BFI IMAX in Waterloo, London. You can go on their official facebook page for constant updates for an exact day they will start TDKR pre-sale, it's probably sometime in June.

This. :brucebat:

I think at this point Batman's origin is a household story for even the GA. A mention or some kind of flashback of it would suffice, but 2-1/2 hours of an origin story only a decade after it's already been done (perfectly, I might add) would be somewhat redundant.

Maybe a darker, more realistic take on a Robin origin with focus on how Bruce/Batman handles the hardships of training/raising an adolescent plagued with a similar tragedy.

A decent wrench in Batman's gears could be how differently Dick is handling his parents murder compared to Bruce's, with the resources and training Bruce didn't have to use against his parents killer at that age.

Batman vs. a lot of adolescent angst and detrimental revenge would be interesting.
Just a thought.

This

I very much hope that the new series prominently features Robin, as he can be done tremendously well when handled with care, just look at the animated series.

Bruce and Dick's relationship is one of the most fascinating things about the Batman mythos and it's about time that it was done to its full potential - even though it actually was done decently well in Forever.

Sadly, that wasn't intentional humour on Devin's part. ;)

In any case, I think the problem people tend to have with him here is not so much his opinions - which he is entitled to - but his manner of expressing them. He seems incapable of not being an *******.

Yeah, you're right about that. :cwink:

I see. Well, I see that problem too. His style is very hard-hitting and what really hits home is him claiming that BB & TDK shy away from their comic origins.

Yeah I never had issues on where Devin stands with Nolan's Bat films since that's his opinion and he's entitled to it but writing a long editorial based on this one assumption that's clearly not true is hilarious to me especially if he considers himself as a "journalist".

Anyway, I'm guessing we're getting something this week (I've been saying that every week now lol)? Maybe they'll release the poster through a mini-viral?

Yeah, and this is why I'm not a journalist or a critic, I would just keep rambling on and drowning myself in my personal dislikes :yay:.

Who knows :funny:? Maybe it's a tracklist, loosely judging from Zimmer's FB where said something like "It's Coming" and the teaser poster image.

The track list would be fabulous! :hrt:

I get the impression he doesn't like Batman full-stop. I could be wrong though.

Bruce Wayne's parents were shot in front of him. What happened to Steve Rogers? He had a serum injected into him and he's a super solider. Big whoop. I like Batman because he chose to rise above tragedy and become something more. A symbol. A legend.

I can't go on much longer without TDKR news man. I'm dying over here, every time I see news released for other movies I have this look on my face as I look away from the screen..

Yeah, I guess he prefers the bright and happy stuff, which I do too but I also prefer stuff like Batman too - kind of anyway. I'm not really that much of a Batman fan.

Yeah, I can picture that :funny:

yes it would be fabulous, just saying that like June 1st we get the track list or maybe just the number of tracks. just something. we are to 59 days, i think after memorial day is when we start to get stuff. but unfortunately this week we get nothing. :csad:

Can someone post a link to this editorial by this "Devin/Kevin" character? I've gone back a few pages in this thread and couldn't find anything. Thanks.

Bruce has the look there of someone (Alfred most likely but maybe even Fox or Tate) telling him something he knows is right but he doesn't want to hear it anyway. That stubborn man! :funny: :hrt:
