Sooooo, people are getting bored by lack of news? May I suggest in the most condescending way possible going out for a coffee with their friends instead of blaming WB or Nolan for doing what has been going on for years in cinema marketing-wise, aka going the standard marketing route?

Honestly, I'm happy with the lack of news. Sounds crazy right? Sounds crazy until you look at the marketing for Prometheus, and by that I mean all the lovely spoilers we've been getting almost every day for that movie. Why the hell do they feel the need to spoil the movie before it's released?? At this point TDKR is so close, just under 2 months away, that I can wait patiently for it's release. NO MORE SPOILERS!

Well, unless Bats dies i think it's a possibility. I don't want to see another origin story. Have the new films start with Batman already in action.

Like B89 was an origin story? Or TIH? Wait till you see TDKR. Even if Batman lives, if either Gordon or Alfred or even Fox dies you can't keep this series going, even in James Bond continuity fashion.

And this is coming from a strong semi-continuity supporter, but before the 8 year gap between TDK/TDKR was announced. It's impossible to do it now. Total reboot for the next one.

Agreed on it not being another origin film the next time. It can visit his origin, yes, but I don't want the film to be about his first year as Batman or anything.

That's how I felt about the Man of Steel when they announced that they were going to do a reboot. Not really happy that it's going to be another origin film. Everybody already knows Superman's origins... move on to a new story. We don't have to revisit it with EVERY FILM.

Personally, I don't care if people like getting spoiled. I walked into TDK knowing every frame of that movie and I still almost fainted when it was over. What I care about is this selfish need that runs into a rant against actual people for not giving them more candy.

Especially with Batman. With Superman i can kind of understand, his origin might be well known, but it hasn't been done since the 70s, and never really that in depth.

Batman had one less than 10 years ago. I think it'd be cool to have flashbacks to Bruce learning different things from different people around the world though.

To me, showing Superman's origin now is as necessary as BB. Everyone knows why Bruce decides to be Batman, but the context of the era and directorial approach is different every time. Besides, last time we had Supes's origin was 34 years ago. Unlike with TASM, this time I think it's essential.

I knew absolutely nothing going into TDK, and it was perfect. I never became a Batfan until after TDK. I had no clue Harvey was going to become two face or any of that. It was loaded with shock value for me. I definitely no a lot more going into TDKR than I did with TDK but still not enough that I feel uncomfortable with it. Prometheus though, I really hope there is some super big surprise that hasn't been spoiled, and that could be but I kind of doubt it.

I think this movie has plenty of anticipation though, I think people why cry out for more marketing are just trying to satisfy a a personal craving ( Which is understandable )

I don't want to know anything about Prometheus. Like, not go in cold, but this is a movie that looks like it relies too heavily on twists. Unfortunately someone didn't use spoiler tags with a spoiler in the Prometheus forum, so there goes that hope.

I just unsubscribed from that forum before I could be spoiled on the movie. I'm glad I did.

Yeah, best choice really. I think I'm staying away from it, too.

I'm still really excited for Prometheus, and it might be full of surprises. I really am interested in the themes it's obviously going to explore. I just wish I knew less, but I'm not watching any more virals or anything. I'm hoping it's one of those movies that's going to be filled with so much shock value that the spoilers wont hurt it too much.

I would like to have more stuff from TDKR and I'll probably break and watch everything that'll come out, but I feel this is the one Batfilm I need to go in knowing as less as possible.

Exactly. I want to know as little as possible for TDKR. I want this to be my most epic movie experience and in order for that to happen I need there to be plenty of surprises.

There's a WB press conference that I'm too lazy to find right now that says it's a reboot. Also, I don't see why Nolan and Thomas's involvement excludes it from being a reboot.
Yep. It'll be a reboot. We don't need anything devoted to the origin, just because it's a reboot doesn't mean we'd get that. References to the Wayne's deaths perhaps like any other Batman story.

The Nolanverse will be contained as its own thing. And I'm very confident that TDKR will end in a way that clearly states that. Stories in the same continuity would cheapen this last hurrah IMO. This is Bale's last, he's said so. "I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I'm taking that cowl off." "Everything's finished. It's me and Chris —that will be the end of that Batman era."

Yeah I guess I would be fine without another origin story. I like origin stories though so either way I'm cool with it. The LOS is my favorite Batman origin so far though and it would be really hard for something to top it.

If they use flashbacks to show appropriate parts of his training depending on the theme of each movie (assuming they'll be going for another trilogy, which is a safe assumption to make), it'd be more than good enough for me.

Rebooting after TDKR preserves the integrity of the Nolanverse. Just as keeping Dent dead preserves the integrity of TDK's ending.

Actually, the 60's series and movie are unarguably the most accurate comic to film translation of Batman comics at the time. Some of the episodes were direct translations of comic issues. The 60's was pure camp, but so were the comics at the time.

I know, and I actually love the show for that reason. But Batman wasn't originally a pure camp character. The show reflected the comics as they were in the late fifties and throughout the sixties, but they weren't Batman as he was originally created. That's all I meant.

I'm not asking for more footage or spoilery images... Just some incredibly badass posters would do.

They are bound to have them all lined up and ready to go.

If I had it my way, and if Bruce is alive at the end of TDKR, I'd just move the series to the future with a Batman Beyond movie, as I think that with a few adjustments, Beyond would fit in very well with the Nolanverse, and more out there elements can be more acceptable with it being the future.

And you won't lose audiences by alienating them with a reboot.

If not Beyond, then a requel in the style of the Arkham games I would love too.

I've been saying this sense '08. Now, that was before we got info on Rises but, my idea was to use Miller's the Dark Knight Returns as a one-off film to lead to a Batman Beyond trilogy...all with Nolan's universe.

It would've gone like this; The Dark Knight Trilogy-The Dark Knight Returns one-off film-Batman Beyond Trilogy.

7 films within the Nolan universe....

Reposting this from the Tusi, cause I really need the info if anyone's got it:

Ok, this is an exciting day for me. Just bought tickets to London to watch TDKR on its premiere day! I haven't done something like this before and I probably won't do it again (especially if/when Greece goes bankrupt), but TDKR is the one movie to do it.

Now... Any of you ladies and gentlemen have a list of true IMAX screens in London? And is the info I got about TDKR ticket pre-sales starting in June correct?

The Adam West show was great, because you knew why Batman was fighting criminals, without them giving a real origin story. Bruce just mentioned his parents murder i the first episode.

Same goes for Batman89. You needn't anything more than the flashback to understand his purpose. Batman Begins was an awesome movie, but we don't need another origin story for the reboot. What we need is some amazing bat action.

I just want the film to be immersed in the Batman mythology, already with a full head of steam. I don't want more rhetoric on 'Is this vigilante good for Gotham?' with themes of escalation from just organized crime to supervillains. I want the movie to start off in the thick of his career. Give us the fantastic and supernatural bad guys. Give us glimpses of his bat-family being expanded upon with sidekicks, love interests, multiple rogues in one film without having to make that encounter a central part of the plot.

I want the themes to mirror those of B:TAS, where episodes like 'Robin's Reckoning' pt. 1 and 2 can be done justice and brought to life...or 'Almost Got 'Im' can be fleshed out with a variety of stories or encounters up against batman can be woven in, while still focusing on a common theme and driving story. I like the way that certain things were eluded to in B89, or the origin was just briefly touched on in 'The Incredible Hulk' by way of the opening montage. Do that with news clippings for Batman, or just some dialogue between Bruce and Alfred. I don't want another hard reboot. Let's continue to delve into the rich stories Batman has to be told on the big screen. With an all new amazing cast and director, of course.
