Same here. At times, I've pressed the submit button like 15x.

:cmad:

My God! I thought I was the only one! I was ready to call the cable company and everything. I really thought it was just my connection, I was freaking out.

It's infuriating. Especially when you write a pretty long post then POOF it's lost forever!

And haha yea when it first started happening i thought i was getting cut off from my ISP or something.

I have never in my life went to a theater to see a movie to escape from life's problems or pressures. That is what alcohol is for.

:BA

He does realise this, that is why he is attributing Avengers success to it. People are depressed about the economy, they worried about their bills. Well, when they are in the cinema watching Avengers those problems don't exist for 2 and a half hours. It's escapism. Like how superheroes came into the forefront in the 30s during the Great Depression. It's escapism

If that's the case and Avengers ends the cynicism we've seen in films these days because of its box office, care to explain Fast Five from last summer? Christ, Devin should've written this article last summer if you look at how Fast Five exploded and surprised EVERYONE last summer with the money it was making. Wasn't that a pure escapist film?

But no, it goes towards his need/driving for hits on his site to bump up any Marvel project while flat out rejected the type of comic book films made by Nolan....which is real a surprise because he flat out dug his heels in on Watchmen in March of '09 (I love the Ultimate Cut), while everyone else was ripping it to shreds or "shrug" about it. But, where was this article then?

Need further proof? Read his opening paragraph/sentence to his Iron Man review from '08. Before ANYONE saw the Dark Knight, he declared Iron Man the best superhero film of the summer. Bar none. Why did he do that? We all know why.....

Or drugs :D

But i think there is some truth in the theory. It's obviously not the ONLY reason. Same way TDKs success wasn't ONLY down to it being relatable.

If SHH is already breaking...imagine what it's going to be like when we get some news? :woot:

Oh so it's THIS discussion AGAIN.

*makes like a tree and leaves*

I don't care what his previous articles say or his bias. All i'm saying is that he does make some fair points i believe.

At the end of the day though, he's just a guy with an opinion. All this righteous indignation is laughable. You don't hear it from Avengers fans saying "So this ******* is saying Avengers was only successful because it's escapism".

Why? Because he's not saying Avengers was ONLY successful because of it's escapism. Same way he's not saying TDK was ONLY successful because of it's relatability to real world issues.

He's just saying those elements resonated with the people and mentality of the eras each film was released in. I agree with that basic point. He may have an agenda, he may be bias, I don't give a **** about that. I'm just saying those two basic theories do have some validity imo.

Has anyone heard any news on Osito? Is he going to be in 'The Dark Knight Rises'?

"He must. He must."

Seriously, Osito is important to the character of Bane. He defines Bane more than his accent, upbringing, muscles, mask and use of venom ... combined. It won't feel like Bane if he doesn't have Osito.

I'm willing to compromise for the sake of gritty realism. Bane could have grizzly bear set loose in Gotham, called Osito. Or maybe Bane's right hand henchman is called Osito? In the middle of a fight with Batman, he could remove his head revealing a giant knife. Doesn't get much more gritty and realistic than that.

Tell me about it!

I've gotten into the habit of copying and pasting my posts before submitting them. So many of my long posts have been lost to the dreaded glitches of these sites.

Give it a few years...it'll happen.

I don't know why I laughed at this, but I did. :funny:

Yea and if it does those people will be misguided too.

Look, what would happen if Feraci was PRAISING TDK for it's ability to resonate with audiences and tackle real world issues? What if he was waxing lyrical at how it matches up with the cultural mentality of that particular era?

I think we all know what would happen, he'd be getting slobbered over, the article would be a badge of honour.

I always assume my taste in films is better than the mass audiences, so I'm never disappointed when it turns out movies I don't care about or like make more money than those that I do like. And the aberrations that are successful are pleasant, rare surprises.

I've mildly warned for months before TA came out it was being underestimated money-wise due to a variety of factors.

One aspect I've disliked of TDK making as much money as it did meant that people would jump down your throat, "B-b-but it's made the most money! Therefore it's the best Batman or comic book movie evah!" And now the position has just switched to another film it seems.

I don't see any righteous indignation - just mockery of a poorly thought-out article by someone who seems to think he's a credible journalist. *shrug*

If Osito is in TDKR, it will make 2 billion easy! :p

I don't know why the Nolan films have attracted such a big backlash. It just baffles me.
Only by a very small (and very opinionated) minority who are, IMO, intimidated by or jealous of his ability. Last I checked he was still very well liked by the mainstream. People know who Nolan is now.

The more famous you are, the more haters you get. Just how the facts of life work.

The most controversial opinion can often be the loudest, doesn't mean it's the majority.

And yet if he was actively praising TDK for it's ability to resonate with the people and culture of it's era, wrote a whole article about it making basically exactly the same points, what would happen?

yeah seriously dude. every now and then i keep getting a "connection timed out" message and it's on this site only. it's really annoying.
