It really has been insane around here. I can't keep up. I really just wanna talk Spidey right now.
I stopped watching the newest batch of clips and featurettes after seeing the Lizard talking. Figured I had spoiled enough of it at this point. And I have to wait until I get home to see the latest interviews. Always love interviews.
I think the biggest thing I'm taking away so far after seeing everything I've seen, is that this movie knows what it's trying to do and it really is sticking to its guns. I love the grounded take I'm seeing. Love the interactions between the characters, notably Andrew and Emma, although we haven't seen too many others at this point. Someone pointed out very accurately that Webb is showing us why Peter is so infatuated with Gwen rather than just having him tell us, like Tobey's Peter did at the beginning of SM1. We actually see why Peter would fall for her. Emma is actually selling us on the idea of the character. You would think that would be a given for any film, but Raimi didn't exactly do that. All that happened was Peter said he always loved MJ, she was the girl next door, etc. What did she really do that was so impressive? She was really good at getting kidnapped, I'll give her that. I'm really hoping that if we see an MJ in the future of this series that we see the real MJ. The drop-dead gorgeous red-head we all know and love. And it's just a plus that Webb understands how to show us why these characters are important rather than just having the main character tell us why they are. Kudos to whoever pointed that out.
I will admit to being a little nervous about the talking Lizard, even though I like how he looks. I'm still very much hoping for a gradual transformation in which Connors loses himself completely to the Lizard. I just really want to see that separation between the two.
