One of the things I give the MCU huge props for is not making Steve an old Conservative jack*** at heart. I hate when people assume/write him as waking up in the 21st century and hating technology, being surprised women/homosexuals have rights, having the "'Murica" mentality, etc. But as TWS showed (as well as the other films), he's really a chill guy. He even has that comment at the beginning about how more efficient researching is now due to the internet.

When has he ever been written that way?

He's definitely got the whole "Murica" thing going on in Ultimates, but everyone's an ******* in Ultimates. This is the same continuity where Hulk is a wannabe rapist (poor Freddie Prinze Jr.) and Hank Pym is so abusive Jan's apparently suffered broken bones at his hands. As for hating technology, some of the cartoons play up the old man not getting this new fangled technology bit.

It was supposed to be a modern/updated and more realistic reimagining of Captain America. Going by that, there was nothing more modern about him.

Volume 3 made me give up on The Ultimate universe altogether.

I can't think of a single redeeming quality about that arc.

Jeph Loeb is the Jeph Loeb of comic book writers. He wrote comics for many years before somehow finagling his way into television. And he wasn't always awful.

And Millar isn't always as bad as people make out. He tends to hover somewhere between juvenile and repugnant, but he does big screen action really well. For all their faults, Ultimates 1 and 2 were damn fun reads.

The same can't be said for Loeb's Ultimates 3. How that thing even made it to print in the shape it was in baffles me. I was so excited to see some Joe Mad art again, and I dropped it after the 2nd issue. He's also responsible for all the cannibalism nonsense that came afterwards. Say what you will about Millar writing Wanda and Pietro as incesties - at least he never outright showed it.

Millar should stick to original characters. He's much better that way.

Also, I'm hoping London isn't all sound stage stuff. I needs a shot of the new Thor costume. NEEDS IT.
