Any chance these recruits are SHIELD Agents that were featured in the comics that have yet to be seen in the MCU?

Would make sense for them to be recruiting or hiring new shield agents after all that has transpired through AOS and TWS. Rebuilding from the ground up. We know Fury has put Coulson in charge of that as well.

I feel like these 'recruits' will be a thread of SHIELD, sort of like Maria Hill. SHIELD is such an integral part to Marvel and most Avengers comics, and they've pretty much been involved in every MCU movie so far and I feel like Whedon is almost obligated to include them in some shape or form.

But I hope they're not red shirts: just a bunch of random good guys who end up being killed off to show the viewers that things are "getting pretty dangerous".

I kind of hope it's not some sort of Academy or anything. I've never liked 'academy' or 'school' type of stuff. That's one reason I never liked the X-Men comics. I know everyone has their opinion, but that's my 2-cents.

Why would this *not* be Avengers Academy, when the set reports give every indication it's Avengers Academy? And why would this be about SHIELD, when they're no longer in the picture for the Avengers?

This is Marvel Comics 101. SHIELD is a separate government agency, and the season finale of AOS specifically established that Phil Coulson -- not Tony Stark, not Steve Rogers, not Nick Fury -- will be rebuilding it from the ground up, with Nick Fury's explicit blessing (see: my avatar). Meanwhile, Tony and Steve are building the Avengers (non-SHIELD affiliated; non-government affiliated) from the ground up into Superfriends 101, just like in the comics, and recruiting superheroes to the team via the Academy. Not that hard to figure out; this is just Marvel Studios continuing their excellent job of bringing the MCU in line with the comics.

This is sooo cute ^_^ But who's sleeping between Steve and Clint? Coulson?:funny: Gotta love my boy Stark though.

baby nick Fury looks p'd!!! hahahaha
classic

I highly doubt there are any supers involved in these recruits, aside from the occasional one being an easy way to introduce them into the fold, as I mentioned before with Danvers. The idea that each of these noobs has powers and is trying out for the Avengers doesn't jibe with anything but sweaty, fever-dreamed fantasies.

You must not have read DCMF's list of actors/characters who were spotted on set for this scene(s). It's the who's who of the expanded Avengers roster, and includes very prominent superheroes (who also, whaddya know, happen to be canonical comic-book Avengers).

Let me just ask a general question, to those who think it applies to their thoughts about the movie Avengers and their place in the developing MCU: why are you opposed to the concept of a superteam developing as a private army organized as Earth's supreme super-force against global threats, when that's *exactly* what the Avengers have *always* been for 50+ years in every iteration in comic books, cartoons, and video games....? The Avengers are The Avengers, and always have been, and there's every indication that the movie version is going to follow suit. Why would you be surprised, shocked, and/or upset and opposed to the obvious? I'm genuinely curious where this opposition stems from.

Just want the ARMY and AIRFORCE to be more involved so we can have Danvers and Gen. Ross on this arc. ARMY / AIRFORCE > Avengers Recruits anyday! I mean they put shield into some sort of break in cap2, let the rebuilding on the AOS Series, they have ate too much exposure already, give some love to the other parties, I know it's hydra's time but come on!

This was linked on the imdb forum. There's a bunch more photos from the UEA June 13th filming including some that I don't think we're posted here yet?

Lookie, it's Hemsworth, Evans and RDJ's chairs. :)

There's a lot more photos of when they were filming a scene of Thor lifting Mjolnir there, too. If I had to guess, Thor's about to fly away because it looks like Tony is looking up here, perhaps as if he just watched Thor take off? I think the camera is on the end of that tall crane above his head so maybe it's a bird's eye shot. And here it looks like they're filming a scene of Steve and Tony walking and talking away from that area, and since Thor's not around there maybe they were seeing him off?

Great finds, thanks for the links.

I thought the first shot of RDJ's chair was a one time joke but he's still got the short one! :lmao:

Thanks for the links Minxie!

So it really could be the last scenes of Avengers 2 where Thor goes to Asgard for Thor 3, Tony/Steve scenes and then Steve will probably leave him to find Bucky

Ahh.

I was just looking back at the SDCC Age of Ultron reveal. I, as usual, will never make it there in person, but watching the Twitter feed is and always will be just as insane.

They'd HAVE to officially announce (or update) Doctor Strange. It'll go into pre-production at the end of this year I'd assume.

Poor Thor 3. I think it was definitely going to release on May 2016 but then of course WB happened and Cap 2 was a success, so they switched.

In some ways I'm OK with it. It'll give them time to come up with a much better story than Thor TDW.

I'm not OK with it because if Justice League really is coming out in May 2017 as well, WB are likely to be childish (again) and try to steal Marvel's slot. Then Thor 3 is screwed.

ULTRON may really push The Avengers to seek out more members for future threats. I think this is gonna be a major turning point in their lives.

If the Age of Miracles has arrived, then those kids might be super powered. If so, thats a just natural progression in the MCU.

This is a one time only Avengers Academy set probably intro'd at the end of the film as some have speculated. Remember A1 ended with Tony starting to build A Tower? it looks like a continuation of that idea.

They could use an April release like TWS.It worked great.

DCMarvelFreshman just posted some pics on the site that shall not be named. It looks like the Big 3 will be addressing the "recruits," or something like that:

Great to see these 3 together! I hope they have a cool scene here that really establishes them as the "Big 3" for the casual viewer.

Interesting that Thor is in civilian clothes. It's a good look.

Id say rehearsal but you never know. It would be funny if Thor was wearing that shirt in the scene. Very cool to see Joss working with the actors here.

RDJ looks really short next to them - even next to Cap.

And I just remembered about this half stripe on the front of Cap's uniform that doesn't go all the way down. What is up with that?

Dare I say it looks like.... "Shakespeare in the Park"? :lmao:
