Hey guys, what if we see Peter Parker listed as an unregistered gifted? :oldrazz::woot:
I would love to see a list SOMEWHERE at one time or other, maybe after the show has started and everyone's all settled in at Agents of SHIELD for example

To be fair, in the film, they didn't have communication devices when they were in contact either... :o

They did, most people simply didn't take note of it. Cap and Natasha had comms in their ears, as presumably did Hawkeye in the final battle. Natasha's was hidden by her hair, but she put her hand to her ear several times when speaking to the others. Cap's was actually visible in the Helicarrier sequence; it was a pink device deep in his ear. (I've watched TA on a large screen that's 3 feet away, so I noticed it.) Hawkeye, being a SHIELD agent, would naturally have had one, too. And Iron Man had his armor. SHIELD being the super-advanced spy organization that it is, it's no stretch to believe that the mics were either integrated or so tiny they were unseen. The two Avengers who didn't have comms were Thor & Hulk, and you'll notice that they never spoke to anyone who wasn't near them during the battle because they lacked a means of doing so.

The one mistake Whedon & Co. made was in assuming that all viewers would be able to understand that the heroes had communication devices without needing that fact explicitly shown to them. Maybe they should have included a scene where everyone took a few minutes in the midst of the crisis to be given Bluetooth devices and put them in their ears while Fury or Tony Stark painstakingly explained how they worked. They could have made a few more jokes at Cap and Thor's expense while they were at it.

They didn't have any actual communications devices, it was a goof.

Pretty sure Hawkeye was communicating with someone while he was atop the building as the spotter and Tony was talking as well giving the heads up "bringing the party to you". Definitely between Cap and Tony on the helicarrier.

Hawkeye talked to Tony and Natasha while he was on the rooftop. He gave Tony info on the Chitauris' weaknesses and Nat asked him for help when Loki was chasing her. When he spoke to Stark his voice came over the Iron Man suit's internal radio. There is only a "goof" to people who don't pay attention when they watch movies.

Cap and Tony were communicating when they weren't even in visual contact....

"close it"

"no wait"

"stark these things are still comin"

Yeah, you'll notice that the only characters who were in radio contact during the fight were Cap, Black Widow, and Hakweye, who all presumably had SHIELD communicators, and Iron Man, who's suit can presumably tap into that frequency. Thor and Hulk never talked to anyone they weren't face to face with during the battle.

So Whedon did think of it, basically.

I'm too lazy to read the posts before this, but is this really a topic of debate??? I thought it was extremely obvious. Cap even had his hand to his ear...

i want a montage of SHIELD giving various individuals notice to register.

. scene of Luke Cage with almost everyone on his block standing arms folded behind him

. Ant-Man picking his daughter up from school

. mabye a flying hero could be pulled over by a SHIELD jet

Honestly, I hope that Whedon was serious when he said, I think it was from one of his previous/recent interviews, on trying to focus in being a better filmmaker for this film.

I think Whedon is a great storyteller and knows how to really use the source material from the comics, but as a standalone filmmaker, I think he could definitely improve a lot.

Honestly, all of the stuff that I've seen from the Phase 2 films have looked more impressive on a cinematic scope than "The Avengers".

The Avengers is a sort of loosely-organized group of heroes in the film universe, quite unlike their comic book incarnation. They have no set protocol for summoning members, no communication devices for when they're not in contact. There are going to be times when some of the heroes simply aren't available, such as when Thor is in Asgard, Cap is on a mission, Iron Man is incommunicado (as in Iron Man 3), etc. They also tend to scatter to the winds when not needed for an emergency. In light of all that it makes perfect sense to me that there could be times when one or more members can't be located in time to handle a crisis.

I remember once starting a thread questioning whether the Avengers were an actual full-time formal team like in the comics or just an emergency response team that only comes together in times of threats. At the time a number of people jumped on me for that and said "of course they were a team".

It's clear though, especially in Phase 2, that they do only come together when needed. They don't hold their team meetings, have a chair person, practise together or even meet regularly. It seems in the various Phase 2 movies that a certain length of time has elapsed since the battle of New York and they haven't come together again.

IM3 makes no reference to now being a part of the Avengers regularly. It just references the battle of NY as a one-off event where the team came together. And Cap 2 seems to be set a year or two after that, and he's just been working with SHIELD.

True, though Iron Man 3 seems to at least established that some members do see each other that doesn't involve the world being in peril..ala bruce and Tony.

And so did Natasha at several points. Cap also had a device in his ear that was visible briefly. It was obvious to some of us, but a lot of people either didn't get it or couldn't put the visual cues together. Apparently, next time Whedon needs to explain every little thing in excruciating detail so that everyone will get it.

Wow... I didn't expect my attempt at humor (I even marked it with an emoticon and everything!) would spawn a whole page of pointless debate (duh, of course they were communicating, no one even said that they weren't). I guess I just shouldn't ever use humor... :o

Sorry for causing a mess. Please return to your regularly-scheduled Pymless-Ultron debates and whatnot. :oldrazz:

I already know that Pym won't be involved in the creation of Ultron, so has it been confirmed that Stark is the one?

If so, that makes sense since I figure the technology for Ultron will be based on Starks suits that were able to be operated without him in them.

That's a bit of overreaction. A one liner could have confirmed who had comm devices. It wasn't really necessary though, the issue didn't stand out to enough people to merit any sort of comment at the time. The first time I saw it was on that MovieSins thing.

Wrong topic? :) Sorry if yes and sorry for my english...
Spider-Man connections? Not a big deal:

When I first saw the picture of Avengers Friend or Foe, immediately the Spiderman-game came to mind.

There's the Empire State University in Item 47 and the scene in the Avengers, when stormed the Midtown. So, Peter went/go in Midtown High School (I recall in Spiderman 1 /Sam Raimi/ the bald black teacher with glasses said to Harry that: "in the Midtown High School..."

Good finds! Midtown and Empire University especially.

As much as I want to call Avengers Friend or Foe a stretch... it would have been more natural for them to say Friends or Foes, as they are plural...

Haha, they should have had a 3 hour briefing before the final battle so that every little thing like this could be explained to the audience. For tech gadgets like comms devices I'd have liked Stark to explain each one to the group before Cap faces the screen and speaks to the audience holding up the comms device and says something along the lines of "yes people, so this is what we'll be using to communicate with each other during the battle" before an extended close up zoom & panning rotation of the devices. There should be a 3 step diagram & demo showing someone putting in the tiny device, step 2 someone talking into it & step 3 someone far away hearing the 1st person and their eyes lighting up, grinning into the camera and giving a thumbs up. Then it extends to a multi picture mini-screen frame with 16 other people individually hearing the 1st & 2nd person and all talking and getting excited. All while 300,000 people are killed by the invading army in the background.

So what are viewers thinking when the actors are seemingly talking to no one? Are they thinking their talking to imaginary people? Come on, you have to be a moron if you don't realize they have some kind communication device. Lol

Communication devices are so common in films and TV shows these days that it's almost taken for granted.
