THE BATMOBILE THREAD

Good call, Detective. I checked with my brother-in-law, who knows a great deal about cars, bikes, et al., and his response more or less gels with yours. "It appears to be clever custom BMW given the boxer twin, where the cylinder head and exhaust pipe poke out the sides. It could be derived from a Russian URAL, but those are are crappy copies of the WWII variety, which would be ridiculous.) With this one, I think they took a BMW RNineT and fabbed two extra cylinders on each side to really make it unique."

In a follow-up email, he added, "The police BMW has more electronic ‘doodads’ but same engine: R1200RTP. The RNineT makes sense as it’s easier just to add rather than take away. I need to see that rear swing arm though. BMW has a direct drive (no chain or belt) and it’s single sided. That would seal the deal."

Received another quick update based on further "swingarm" analysis: "It’s totally a custom with a stretched swingarm, commonly done on Japanese sportbikes like the Suzuki Hayabusa. And that front wheel is wider than normal. Looks like a drag bike. Details are purposely covered to add to its uniqueness. There’s lots of custom builders these days."

Yeah too bad it's not the 2000s anymore where the X-Men wore all black cause "LOL the majority won't buy these ridiculous costumes". How'd that work out 2000s ? Oh the MCU did it with their superheroes and the majority went with it? Whaaaaa? No way.

Eh. The X-Men didn't originally wear all black, they wore back suits with brightly colored piping.

And the MCU isn't quite to "yellow spandex" territory yet. They've largely presented variations of comic book looks by muting what are traditionally brighter colors (Captain America, in particular), or having its characters often wear darker costumes. There's a lot of black added to the traditional looks. And they've generally toned down the cheesier/sillier elements of the comic book outfits in most cases. Of course there's the occasional Black Panther with bright purple energy lines all over his costume for some reason.

My main point is that you can adapt things in a way that really captures the comic more. People just choose not to because they don't feel like doing it in my opinion. The talk about "grounded" this "realism" that but that's forgotten in other aspects of the film at the director's convenience. I feel 9 times out of 10 you could go with something that feels like the comic costumes rather than say what an Iron Fist, Luke Cage, or Trank's Fantastic Four does, which reeks of dated conventional wisdom from previous eras. I feel this way about my beloved Nolan films as well. You could do this aspect or that aspect and probably make it work, but ultimately you don't want to do that, so you don't.

I wouldve been way happier with the nolan puzzle suits if they were covered in dark grey fabric and had a more prominent bat on them.

I'm quite intrigued now by what the new Batmobile will look like. Going by the aesthetics of the motorbike we've seen so far - it's obviously a custom design of sorts, but less militaristic than Nolan's bike and looks a bit older in design. I'm assuming any car is going to follow similar design cues rather than looking hugely futuristic or tank-like in nature.

I'd be cool if they went with a sleek SUV type of batmobile like this one. It even has the red accents like the batman 66 batmobile.

Today Koenigsegg unveiled the Jesko Absolut, set to become the worlds fastest car and as close to a real life Batmobile as you can get. :D

I guess :hehe:. But all the previous Batmobiles/Batcycles still look more distinguished and memorable though.
As cool as Keaton's was - how did he and Alfred make that?
Nolan, made sense, but was not cool to look at.
Batfleck, cool to look at but nothing special.

My money is on the car looking something like these....

This looks too generic, his car, at least in recent years has always looked a concept car.. something unique. Think stock cars in the UK

Something Bruce and Alfred can work in their shop/garage and something that wouldn't be traced back and not too expensive to maintain

Let's be honest, you put those on set pictures, with the stunt rider on his bike, next to a mat black finish one of these and it would suit... not saying that's what I want or would like, but it seems plausible.

Some suggestions here make me think of Black Beauty from Green Hornet 2011 movie.

The batmobile from telltale, luxury by day batmobile by night.

Well, I was right that the first photo would come today. ;)
