THE BATMOBILE THREAD

this is VERY much like an even more faithful rendition of the Aronofsky Year One script
Didn't that script have him lose his fortune, and there's no Alfred, and the Alfred/mentor figure is some mechanic from an auto shop where the batmobile is built? How can you say it's even more faithful when some of the core aspects of it is already different, if indeed he doesn't lose his fortune in this film.

That’s why I said it’s more faithful ... the superficial elements such as that. Based on the vast majority of what we’ve seen and heard it’s more than a little bit similar.

Araonofsky's script was Bat **** crazy. I believe Gordon was an alcoholic.

Nice to see Bruce saving some pennies, lol. Seriously though, I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, but this again looks kinda average. I come back to the idea that the only way to do a grounded Batman in the wake of Nolan was to strip away even more of the comic book feel to the character. The Tumbler might be a practically designed vehicle, but it's not really a practical vehicle. This is the type of car anyone person could buy do up themselves. It's funny to think of all the debates that we've had over the years about Nolan not being comfortable with comic book aesthetics and yet this film is making his look entirely fantastical. Honestly, like the suit, this is kinda the only way they could do a more grounded take on Batman that didn't walk on Nolan's shoes. The results so far just look underwhelming.

I think the point is that is looks kind of average. There's story potential to Batman making his own stuff, staying under the radar a bit.

This may be the type of car anyone COULD do, but it's not the kind of thing most people can. You have to work at the skills to do something like this well. Which is what Batman should be. A highly skilled human being.

While this may not reflect a specific version of the comics, there's really nothing about this stuff that doesn't suggest some comic book version of the character. He's wearing a gray and black armored suit, and there's an entire decade plus of comics where he drove Batmobiles that were similar to this.

You could make the argument that, short of the flying car from Batman Beyond, this is really one of the only reasonable places they could go conceptually to differentiate this version of the car from others.

Just saw on Twitter: “iF sNydEr MaDe ThE bAtmObIlE a MusClE cAR, hE’d bE lAbelEd a dUdE-bRo”

Yeah, and if he made the Batmobile a muscle car, all the Snyder stans hating this one right now would be in love with it right off the bat. Goes both ways.

Some people don't know sh*t about batman except films and that's fine. But they shouldn't talk and make comments like that. A muscle car batmobile like this ain't new

Okay, so I’m on the fence a bit but I think I like it.

Pros:
1. It’s pretty simplistic(reminiscent of the early comics)
2. Somewhat incognito, the other batmobiles are massive beasts that would hardly fit on the road and give villains a head ups that he’s coming. Would probably be pulled over by cops left and right and draw attention constantly. This (whilst the back is brightly lit) is pretty low-key and doesn’t look much different than your average car show car.

Cons:
1. Leaves a bit to be desired, doesn’t look like a true batmobile and looks more like a moded Camaro that some Tom, Dick or Harry could have made.

2. The doors, looks like they’re normal car doors and frankly that just looks silly.. every batmobile should have a top roof entrance imho.

Also, and maybe this is nit picky.... but Pattinson looks incredibly scrawny.. but overall.. this movie still has my interest.. some intriguing choices but no absolute dealbreakers yet.

I don't think I actually see any doors. The side panels look welded shut to me. I think he might have to slid in and out of the window like a race car driver.

I think they could open up like some lambo doors or even forg gt doors.

A tank is too loud and attracts attention

A bat themed car is too flashy and not practical

It's very evocative of the more incognito cars Batman has driven in the comics. Not a tank and not flashy with bat hubcaps and symbols everywhere
