I have a feeling this is the closest so far to what we're going to get. The final will probably be more form-fitting with a few techy touches.

The superman suit was modernized but on the alien look. Batman suit is not alien thats why underwear could fit. And totally respect your take. but I don't see this in live action silly if you ask me. I see badass here.

This is what I am hoping for (I don't think we are going to get it, however). That suit is just perfection.

I'm thinking we'll get something like the Origins suit. The grey and black with the material like Captain America's.

Eugh... I really don't want any outside armour.

Zack needs to keep this simple and sleek.

The realism doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be "comic-booky". Cavill's suit was great, and it was still a departure from the classic suit. Batman can still be sleek and comicy, but at the same time look "realistic". If they can give us owlman's treatment from watchmen, the suit will look great, even if the decide to use trunks. The trucks, as long as they don't look like common briefs, could work seeing how easy it was to forget they were on the owlman suit. I, personally, would prefer that they stay away from the briefs, but at the same time I recognize how they could make them look decent on screen.

Overly bulky gauntlets & boots, weird body proportions and a perhaps not ideal cowl aside: does anyone not agree that the Arkham Asylum/City BODYSUIT ONLY - just the grey part - is pretty much perfect as a Batman bodysuit and basically what we've been talking about all along?

Not that exact design, perhaps, but something along those lines? The only thing it needs is to perhaps be a bit darker grey. That's been the thing to aim for ever since the first game came out, IMO. Just NOT done as sculpted rubber like that silly cosplay version that's been posted umpteen times.

I would agree with all of that, Lujho. except I happen to like the cowl. :batman:

I'm not overly fussed on long or short ears... but I do think the Keaton ears were the perfect length.

I thought the cowl in Origins was a vast improvement.

But of course, Bathead loves the long ears. :cwink:

The Batman Returns suit is the best movie cowl so far.

I was watching Batman and Robin yesterday..... and I actually don't hate either Robin or Batman's suits. The nipples aren't that noticeable for the most part. And I love how the Batman's cowl looked in that movie...

Heresy, i know

I like how you chose images where the trunks are almost completely obscure to make your point about how they look good

Yes, the Jim Lee suit is perfection. But what people don't realize is that there is nothing special about it. It's just a grey bodysuit with black gauntlets, boots, etc. Just like about 90% of all Batsuits in the comics.

What makes Lee's Batman so visually impressive is the greek god-like musculature and the skill of the artist.

The problem with the sleek gray classic design from the comics is that much of the movie audience may look at that and wonder why a human is wearing what is basically a thicker Underarmor shirt. Superman can get away with a totally unarmored suit because the audience knows he's an alien. But the dilemma is that MOS established the world as being basically our world, and in our world, humans need protection from harm. Not giving Batman even a decent amount of either armor (whether it's above or below the fabric of the suit) will leave a good deal of the audience rolling their eyes. The fans of comics would obviously love to see a classic suit, but these huge movies aren't generally made for that audience. They're adaptations that have to appeal to a much, much wider audience.

Agree 100%.

I have to agree on this.

The bodysuit/under suit (armor) itself is fine. The rest is less than desirable; they'd have to modify the rest to work on screen.

Pretty much that's because its when he appears to be at NIGHT where he almost everytime he's. And of course even with that I see them in the last photo I showed all you. You just proved my point that effects of movies could make them not noticeable that much. An I'm not saying has to be a copy with that. I was pointing that Batman can wear them in a modern look. We haven't seen the suit so I'm not saying he's gonna have them 100%. Just speculation ;)

The trunks are great, i actually think the suit looks weird most of the time when there aren't trunks..

This!!!

Actually, I don't mind short(er) ears, just not Adam West short. But my preference is indeed the longer ears.

Okay Watchmen and Man of Steel are not set in similar world's so using suits from Watchmen as a reason the comic-accurate Batsuit could work in the Man of Steel-verse is a no go. You can't just pull out aesthetics from different Zack Snyder movies and smash them together.

Would Leonidas and Baby Doll's fantasy garb fit in Man of Steel's universe? Nolan's Batman costume would fit better in MOS-verse more than a 99% comicbook accurate one.

Uh, then why keep the trunks in the first place...?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, but what I was trying to allude to was the texture and flexibility of the owlman costume, along with its incorporation of the trunks ( which, if they were to have the briefs, weren't as noticeable because of the fit and its seamless integration with the rest of the pant area). I was not implying that they copy the costume, only that they apply the small details what made the costume so appealing even when separated from the context of the material. If they truly want to add briefs and keep a "classic" batman aesthetic, I don't think owlman is a bad place to start. I am not sure why certain design cues would feel so entirely out of place.
