BvS The Batsuit Thread - - - - - - - - - - - Part 34

Agreed. If his body looked more like this

Than this

It'd be alot better.

I think the mannequin is little thin in the first picture as we have to buy he is muscularily massive and has lightweight armor on underneath the cloth exterior making him appear bigger than he is, but I guess he could be shaved down just a little bit, but not by much.

Also I know we won't get to see them often but I often forget how great and well designed those boots are.

If Bruce Wayne actually had that built in real life he'd probably look something like this in his suits:

I too prefer the slimmer mannequin look. Batman being just a man would want to keep himself and his outfit a little trimmer so he could stay a nimble navigator.

I feel like I've already said it a million times, but Nolan's BB suit was easily a thousand times better than the TDK/TDKR suits. I don't know what the thought process was in making those changes.

But yeah, this Wilkinson suit is hawt.

I agree. BB was WAY better.

The TDKR fake armor rubber suit looked weird because they did not follow any human anatomy for the breaks in the armor pads and webbing. The rubber "folded" in weird areas too.

Thank the heavens it was dark most of the time...

I am confused on one thing in some figures and statues I see gold on the gauntlet fins and toes of the boots but not on that costume on the mannequin, does the suit have said gold or was that something that only the toys and statues have?

It's on the mannequin too.
It's just much more subtle on the actual suit than on the toys.

No doubt. Look at this beast:

The BB suit was intimidating and protective. The TDK/R suit removed all of the intimidation and theatricality and was purely a pragmatic combat suit. Supposedly Nolan didn't even want the bat symbol on the chest of the TDK/R suit but more sensible members of the creative team convinced Nolan to include it in the suit, but he made it barely visible and miniscule.

It seems to stem from when the suit was assembled for a toy and video game reference to shoot..
The gold is not an opaque paint layer...'rather it is a pearlescent additive to the clear coat.

I think that when those referemc picks were taken? Too much flash from the camera bounced off the gold accents and made the gold look more opaque.

Compare that statue above..'knuckles.. Boot tips.. Gauntlet blades..'and then the belt.
You can see how the light and flash effected the look of the belt.

I also think that after that mentioned photo shoot for reference?
Those pics were leaked out..
Cosplayers got a hold of them..
The overexagerated.. Overexposed colors were taken for the actual color of those details.. Arguements about gold or no gold commenced
Whoops

I think Batfleck body looks like mannequin, probably his bulky neck & head makes it stockier.

Also i think most of posters & covers have photoshop muscles for both Batfleck & Super Cavill. Batman looks leaner in set photos.

His body is spot on in the promo pics and the footage we've seen, who cares about magazine covers which involve a lot of photoshopping.

I think the costumes would look more similar on the mannequins had they been affixed to body molds of the actors; and that doesn't seem to be the case here. The physiques we see on display are merely approximations.

Notice how much smaller Superman's mannequin looks in contrast to the way he appears on film.

It seems that the manaquins may be smaller intensionally..
Maybe it just makes it easier to get the suits on with out messing them up?
Dressing a person that can flex and squish must be easier than trying to drag these fabric suits over a rigid fiberglass body form that can't bend or move?
Just a thought

Like most mannequins, the ones created for BvS are essentially generic representations of the human form. As such, their musculature is structured in a way that is near-perfect. The reason behind this approach is to depict the costumes in the most flattering light imaginable. Here's the thing, though. When putting those suits over regular people, you have to account for real-life dimensions and physical flaws.

Ben has a great physique, but let's be honest: he's no Hugh Jackman or Henry Cavill. As per the recent issue of Muscle & Fitness, WB initially wanted him to look like a professional body builder, but they decided that an MMA fighter's proportions would be more attainable for him and also better suited for this older iteration of Batman. I'm no expert, but I imagine the way he looks in costume is a lot closer to own physicality with exception to the obvious difference in size.

Batman should never look like a body builder.

Not a modern body builder no - I'd grant you that. A body builder from the 60's and 70's though would be incredible though.

Also to the post that said he'd look like Ronnie Coleman in a suit - I'd suggest he'd look closer to any well built NFL player in a properly tailored suit.

Guys, not every bodybuilder looks like Phil Heath/Ronnie Coleman/ Kai Greene. The bodyshape of that mannequin would still be considered a bodybuilding physique.

I don't think there's any question the new suit is the best one yet.

BB had a better suit than TDK in almost every way but there was something inherently blocky and weird about the cowl, particularly when viewed from the side.

You're forgiven for being absolutely and undeniably wrong.
