No, the TDK(R) suit wasn't the greatest or most comic accurate suit ever. But it did fit in with Nolan's version of Batman, and it allowed Bale to move his head, which was a revolution when it comes to movie Batsuits.

Maybe we should stop judging it according to how we think a Batsuit should be, and appreciate that it was great for what it was. I personally don't think a grey bodysuit would fit in with the rest of Nolan's style.

In all the hubbub of Affleck, the new suit, and whatnot, let us not forget that we had a great Batman (not perfect, but great nontheless).

I don't think the gray would've necessarily been out of place in the world of the TDKT, but still the black was sexy as heck. This post: :up:

Actually, hafizbat isn't really agreeing with you. He is making a reasoned assessment of the TDK(R) suit's relative merits, not making any silly claims about it being "gorgeous".

Oh my god. Now my appreciating the suit (in spite of what you for some reason think, a completely subjective thing) is 'silly'. Get off your ridiculous high horse.

And I was supporting his argument for reasoned judgement of the suit, as opposed to the sweeping, repetitious (and boring) diatribe you post.

I really loved the Batman Begins suit when it came out - what a great change from the Schumacher days! With that said, I'm definitely excited to see the new look for Batman!

I feel bad for the amount of criticism the new suit will get considering the billions of interpretations of Batman out there. There's no way they can please everyone...

Agreed!

True, but if anyone can get close, it'll be Snyder. He's got a great eye for these things most of the time.

It was the same aesthetic minus nipples though:huh:
I remember being beyond let down after all the hype about change and stuff. The neck turning killed me, ninja turtles had figured that out more than a decade earlier. When I'm watching a batfilm and he needs to turn his body from his core, part of me dies. Especially when he's in his car.

That was partially offset by the in film evolution of the suit, but seriously. I couldn't believe all of a sudden people were fans of teh puffy they had just spent a year bashing in antip of the suit reveal.

You're right. And realistically it won't matter all that much really, because we will all go see the movie, like it or not. Ultimately, the thing that will decide it for the most of us is Ben's performance - I feel that he's gonna pull off the best batman we've seen on screen to date...not sure why...just a feeling.

I can kind of see your point about the general aesthetic being similar, but maybe it was seeing the creation of the suit from the tech that Bruce had available that sold me on it - seeing that evolution made more sense than some of the past molded suits.

I do wholeheartedly agree concerning the head turning issue. That was always a problem with past suits for the most part. I hope with all the different materials they have available now, we can finally get a cowl that is even more pliable but also looks great on film!

It probably would have even fit the comics better than Nolan's version, since Nolan's version was meant to be a very realistic take. As I said before, the TDK(R) suit is not realistic by any means and the irony is that the comic suit is the most realistic suit by far. Blends in the shadows better, gives off the theatrical vibe from Batman better, still offers him basic protection from bullets/knives without weighting/slowing him down, etc.

I'll give Synder credit. As much as I disliked MOS, the costume is probably one of my favorite comic book adaptations. He took a chance and it worked out. Let's hope they have the guts to replicate that innovation with Batman.

Exactly! I know its been said many times by many others, but what they did with the MoS suit was great! I mean the bright colors and trunks has it's place, but the new look really took any cheese out of it for me. Cavill looked like a beast in it, too!

Hear hear!

Is this supposed to be ironic? Your last few posts have, consistently, been assertions of opinion as fact, coupled with unsubstantiated rebuttals of contrary opinions ("no").

You are of course entitled to assume whatever position you like in this discussion, and I am sorry that you think I am on a "high horse" (though I don't understand why). But your opinion is, in my view, both dogmatic and perverse, and your attempt to cite somebody's somewhat contrary opinion as support for your own was slightly dishonest.

Why should I bother writing anything in more detail when you (and others) can apparently get away with incessently posting "It sucked" over and again. I used to write more about it, but seeing that all the time has become grating.

As for the no/yes posts... same thing. "That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence". You don't like it because I'm coming from the opposite side of the fence.

"Silly claims". That's where the high horse thing came from. I posted nothing more absolute than you guys did. I disagreed, but I never tried to dismiss yours as being 'silly'.

Dishonest? No, it really wasn't. I did not say "You think it's great too, high five!" since he plainly opened with "It may not have been the greatest". I respect that, because he followed up with something sensible, pointed out the positives and it's uniqueness to the TDKT. Unlike most of the posts I see about it in this thread.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that likes trunks, and wants them for Batman AND Superman

No, you're not. Quite frankly I don't get all the hate for the trunks. It makes no sense to me.

I appreciate where you're coming from. Is it the actual look you like or is it just the nostalgia of the comics?

If I may - for me it's both. Does it really matter why someone might like them anyway?

No, it doesn't really matter, I just wanted to know where people are coming from and their mindset.

To be perfectly honest…there hasn't been a movie bat suit that I have loved…my reactions have been "I guess that will work"
