I actually quite liked that idea in theory, but I don't think it would take to film that well.

For the record, I like a lot about the Smallville Batman--the idea of chain mail, the Navy SEAL face paint, etc. Those ideas could look great on film, if they did them justice. I just think the rest of the suit looks like crap. Espectially the helmet going over the chain mail... that could've been executed better.

Yeah, I think it would look weird on film. They even acknowledge he just puts it on half of his face...

Part of me feels that the TDK suit was an influence, but they want to do something different. They just ended up with another crappy version of it. I can understand the chain mail look in terms of allowing him to turn his neck and providing some protection.

It seems he had a previous suit which looks better to me...

I haven't read it. How is he mocking Joker by having his mouth exposed?

I'm not sure exactly, it's been awhile since I read it. Joker asks him why he has that window, and Batman replies 'to mock you'. I assume something to do with Joker's lips being cut up and demented. Whilst Batman still has a clean-cut face underneath, therefore is still human; ie not a monster. I dunno.
maybe...

or a simpler answer could just be that he can talk more clearly with him mouth exposed, therefor able to mock his opponents

It's his response to the joker asking him why he leaves that part of his face exposed.

Joker says..
"Desperate to be feared, you want to be perceived as a monster.draped in black.
And yet you leave that little window...
A glimpse at the perfection underneath.
Obvious the chiseled good looks, not the jaw,the mouth of a monster..

Why do you let it be seen?
Tell me why."

To which batman replies
"To mock you"

I just simply go with that's the way he wanted to dress. If he wanted a full mask, he would've worn one and there probably wouldn't have been an issue of people being able to hear him or not unless writers chose to go that route for whatever reason.

Yeah, it sounds like he was just giving a *****ey response. I read that in Anthony Ruivivar's voice because his Batman is hilariously *****ey.

I think I'd prefer to see Ben's eyes most of the time, with lenses being utilized for evidence scanning, night vision, and his own form of x-ray vision, which would give him an ability that aligns with Superman's.

I think he should have his regular eyes most of the time, but would cool for him to utilize lenses to amplify his intimidation factor and beastliness. The lenses like in the last page could be quite awesomely frightening. Not that we need it all the time, nor rally at all, but would be cool if they toyed with the idea

Oh the fun you could have with toggling the glow on and off with the contacts idea!

Batman needs to intimidate and interrogate a garden variet superstitious-and-cowardly thug? He leaves the eye glow on and just widens his eyelids so it looks like he's staring into the guys skull!

Batman needs to interrogate someone like Luthor? He turns off the glow since it does nothing, but raises it the second Mercy and Hope walk in.

Batman needs to talk to Superman? When he doesn't trust him, the glow is on. When he does, he turns it off.

Want to show how badly the fights going for Batman? One contact gets dislodged and his eye injured while the other keeps glowing.

I took your post as sarcastic ideas for the inclusion of contacts? The one about him toggling on and off based on his trust for superman as well as him hurting his eye had me cracking up. Although I think it was more in the way I immediately pictured it than the idea itself. I could see each of those potentially working if done correctly.

Sorry but everything about that suit, especially the half cowl and painting half of his face..... :barf::barf::barf::barf:

For a Batman Beyond suit, maybe. But that is just something you never change. Never.

Not just the design of the Batsuit. That entire page has some mediocre art imo.

can't decide if it's less hideous, as hideous, or more hideous than the injustice suit.

It's not quite that bad. The suit above is like swallowing your own vomit. The Injustice suit is like swallowing someone else's.

That cowl looks as though it could be easily pulled off. Horrible.

Hey, but at least he can turn his neck.

amirite?
