Be that as it may I think Hawkeye's wife will have understood. After all his reason for coming out of retirement was because he was responding to a direct request from Cap and he obviously felt it was the [morally] the right thing to do. No way he wouldn't have had a heart to heart with his other half before doing so, and if that's the case she would have been well aware of the risks and ramifications.

Saying that, maybe she was glad to see the back of his if he was just so bored (the golf quote - ''played 18 holes, shot 18''). I kid, obviously.

The whole HAwkeye in the Raft at the end thing kind of bugged me. He was really whiney to me, thought Stark played it well. They were adults and made their decision to break the law. And Stark did not think they would be put there, everyone made their decisions. Loved that Falcon's first words were asking about Rhodes. it showed he had no regrets except Rhodes was hurt. And Rhodes at the end telling Tony to get over his injuries, that sucked but he made the choice to defend the Accords. He felt it was worth it.

And second viewing after the Raft scene, they are all wanted criminals on Cap's team. As of now there is no going back.
And the post credits scene Steve clearly said they will come for HIM- not US. So I don't think they all went into hiding in Wakanda. I was wondering if Steve was implying Hydra would come for Bucky or the US government if they found he was being stored there.

Most of these might be incorrect because Sharon Carter had 4.5 minutes of screen time. I know because I timed it myself.

Captain America and Iron Man's numbers seem really low. Vulture clocked their AOU times and Cap had 50 minutes and Tony had 45. Seems a little odd that in Steve's own movie he's in it a lot less than a movie he has to share with about 7 other major cast members where they're all the main characters.

Yup. I'm not 100% sure as I didn't time them but they're the only numbers currently available. Probably will have to way till the blu ray launch for exact numbers

Anyone remember the woman who appeared to be some part of T'Challa's security detail who ordered BW to move? Is she a character of particular importance [from the comics] or just a throwaway character invented for the movie? She was statuesque, to say the least and, as T'Challa said about the prospect of seeing her go up against BW (''that, I would like to see'') intimating that she can definitely handle herself. Colour me intrigued.

She was one of the Dora Milaje (Adored Ones)...Panther's bodyguards basically. When they were 1st introduced by Priest in the comics there were just two of them. They have since been expanded into an entire squad. I personally hope they go back to two for the movies.

Just saw it a second time, both times in IMAX, this time without 3D. Still just as incredible; my mom loved it despite not being caught up on the MCU. Gonna see it a third time in a regular theater and probably call it a day.
I saw it in 3D with my cousin on Sunday what would you say is better regular or 3D?

As has already been said that was one of the Dora Milaje.

You should try out the new Black Panther series. Two of the Dora Milaje play a major role in that story.

The Dora we saw in Civil War is already kind of a hit. Folks are writing articles about her, I've seen drawings, and I'm positive "Move, or you will be moved" T-Shirts are going to start popping up soon.

Which has me thinking; in 616 Panther is merely peak human like 616 Cap, so elite human bodyguards are still plenty useful but in MCU Panther is at least as Super as MCU Cap both in and out of his suit but in the suit Panther can almost no sell heavy fire and exploding arrows, so I have to question the value of strictly human bodyguards

Possibly a "package deal" that comes with being king. T'challa doesn't necessarily need them, but his council/advisors/whatever will insist that tradition be upheld.

Plus Black Widow is strictly human and she kicks plenty of ass so the same will hopefully hold true for the Dora, especially when T'challa has to face multiple enemies at once.

I could see that

Good point

How strong is Bucky's arm compared to other superpowered people? I assume it can do a few tons from the TWS and this movie.

Character Screentimes Rounded to the Nearest 1/4 Minute (From IMDB)

Captain America - 36:00
Iron Man - 33:45
Winter Soldier - 21:00
Black Widow - 11:45
Falcon - 10:30
Black Panther - 10:15
Scarlet Witch - 10:00
Baron Zemo - 9:15
Spider-Man - 8:30
Vision - 7:15
War Machine - 6:00

Really hope there's a much more even distribution between each of the individual heroes and Thanos in IW.

Hard to say, we saw it do a lot of damage, but we've also seen Cap and Black Panther overpower it.

I don't like 3D but to be honest I thought the 3D was slightly better than the usual blockbuster. That said, I still preferred it normally.

I'm not sure you can do a 1:1 comparison because they're very different stories despite both being Tony/Steve conflicts.

I think this movie came kinda backwards. Like, Marvel Studios decided to start planting seeds for a CW adaptation because it was the most notable Marvel story of the decade, even though it was highly controversial. Then the end result came out looking very little like the CW comic anyway so it almost feels pointless.

It's incredible that despite it being adapted for adaptation's sake, it's come out as arguably the best movie in the franchise.

Really great write-up about why the movie works where the comics CW doesn't.

The movie and comics are so different that they dont even feel too comparable. The only similarities are really having Cap and IM on opposing sides of an issue but everything else around it is different. Its a good thing they didnt try to adapt the comic book story bc it wouldnt have worked. They probably shouldnt have even called this film Civil War. There was no war

They named it Civil War so they could build traction and hype off the name. Tons of non-comic readers recognize the name.

We got the mostly unnecessary but completely awesome airport fight due to the name so y'know.

They could have done the airport fight with or without that name. It was a civil brawl, not a civil war.

I thought "Civil War" was used as a metaphor. The conflict that arises between Steve and Tony and their final fight - don't they lead to a Civil War between the two characters?

People really only limit the meaning of the title to the airport fight.

Thanks everyone for the info on the Dora Milaje - very interesting!

Just left the theater. Great movie. The action was stellar and the character development was spot on.

questions:
what happened to Widow after her talk with Tony? She wasn't a prisoner on the raft.

Are we to assume all of the escapees are living in Wakanda now?

Is Rhodie's condition and new parts correspond to another MARVEL character

It's still odd to me that in his own movie, Cap only had 36mins within a total run time of 2 hours and 20mins.

That's why this is more of an Avengers flick than it is a Cap one.

Bucky uses it to deflect bullets. It's clearly super strong, but Spidey didn't break a sweat catching his punch, and Tony....well if we didn't know before how powerful Tony's repulsor blasts are, we do now.
