Sorry, but the WB Superman method is "Oops, we stuffed that up. Let's start over."

Yeah I doubt Routh would want to go through that phase again (winning over divided fan-base and critics)

Popped the Superman Returns 'S' and belt on it. Maybe what a sequel suit could have looked like.

Near perfection!

While I liked the SR suit, I recognize it had problems and could have been so much better with a few tweaks just as this. I mean this really is a fine example of what it should have been in 2006.

Well if Superman isn't on his horoscope for the future, I think these pictures prove that he'd make a good Reed Richards.

You can bet that some at WB will look at Routh again and say "why not?"
I doubt it gets enough support though.

As much as I would love to see it, I would never expect Routh to be chosen as the cinematic Superman again. I believe he'd do it if offered though. The fanbase is always going to be divided, especially given the different incarnations of the character on screen we've seen at this point. Doesn't matter whose chosen.

Routh carried a lot of goodwill and was widely considered a bright spot in SR. I think he would bring more positive than negative feedback if he was chosen. The response to him and this image is proof of that.

If nothing else, this image has sparked more interesting conversation about Superman than the last several months. Just a whole lot of nothing and, IMO, awful casting suggestions.

I just pray Tom Welling doesn't don the suit in the show. I don't think I can handle his fans coming out and bickering with others on the boards again.

It's too bad that ship has sailed. Routh brings that Superman Returns baggage and it's a bit weird to go back to the version that they ditched after ditching the version that they ditched it for, ya dig?

I was listening to a podcast that had Variety film reporter Justin Kroll on it and he seemed to hint at JJ Abrams taking on Superman.

I'd be curious to see if that would tie in with the Supergirl movie. Rumor is Superman will make an appearance in it, but how that goes is anyone's guess. Lots of people hinting at a possible Abrams Superman crossing over with Reeves/Pattinson Batman since Abrams and Reeves go way back.

The franchise resurrector? **** it, I’m in. He knows how to make a popcorn flick and right now, the Superman franchise needs that.

I don’t even care if it’s just a remake of the Donner movie but with some twists and modern flair.

Justin Kroll's hint on that podcast was certainly very encouraging.

If true, just have to see what Abrams would want to do first. Whether he would want to do an original movie first under the new WB deal or get started on Superman and DC.

Kroll's comments were wishful thinking. Not a tease of background noise regarding Abrams and Superman

These were his words in the podcast regarding JJ Abrams (starts at 39.34):

"I hope the new Warner Bros. deal leads to more stuff. Maybe someone with a cape, we'll see... that's a hint..."

It sounds like wishful thinking but when he says "that's a hint" I thought it could be he knows more than he's letting on. Or maybe not. But yeah it was a vague comment and not much to go on.

I asked him. He said it was wishful thinking.

WB have a practice of putting all DC properties on table (including Superman) before potential directors, they did that to James Gunn, no doubt they will be asking JJ Abrams to choose one of DC movies, but ultimately, it's upto him.
