The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

I'd really like to see a fos that looks somewhat like a museum on the inside, ie, things like a bottled city of Kandor, or an all but extinct plant from some alien world, a giant robot destroyed by superman in a past battle, etc etc.

As much as I'd greatly prefer no Donner influences at all, I'm fine with a crystal palace Fortress as long as it's still a museum/laboratory as in the comics, not just a big empty palace.

We dodged some serious bullets...

(Like the Matrix!)

Lol, I will always stick up for the J.J Abrams Flyby script. People like to think only of the first draft, but the second draft really cooked. A STAS-inspired Lex Luthor, specifically, was enough to get me hyped.

Yeah I would love to see this sort of thing. Even if Brainiac is the villain in the first movie, they can bring back just his head as a prop in the fortress

Fingers crossed for something more inspired by the animated series.

I wonder if he'll have robots?

And Superman should store Brainiac's head directly opposite the bottled city of Kandor.

Yeah. I am a fan of the later draft that did away with Kryptonian Lex and the Kryptonian-fu. I am extremely confident that had that script been produced, it would have been much better-received than both Superman Returns and MoS. The characterizations of Clark, Lois and Lex in particular were so much better than in those imo.

Let's hope that SAG and AMPTP can strike an agreement in the upcoming weeks, but until then, here are a few more good manips from https://***********/DCU_Updates.

Never did I imagine the girl from House of Cards and that one episode of The Blacklist would someday play Lois Lane.

This. It would have launched a Superman franchise alongside Nolan’s Batman. Just imagine. Coulda woulda shoulda

I don’t mind if Gunn takes some swings with the lore, as long as he captures the personalities/dynamics of Clark, Lois, and Lex (like Abrams did). I can take some deviations from the comics if the characters still feel true.

I think out of all the Superman films that have been in development or produced since the early 90's, Gunn's version will by far be the best one.

Fair enough; I just caught up on My Adventures with Superman which sort of sparked this thought in my head. The show takes big swings with Kryptonian lore but the characterization of Clark, Lois, and Jimmy really anchor the whole thing for me and make it an enjoyable watch.

And just based on GOTG, I expect Gunn to have some fun with familiar favorites.

If I like a script I can look past some things...tweaks to lore happen all of the time and most of them are helpful or hardly noticeable. Certain things though should be left alone unless it is an Elseworlds tale because it changes the fundamental nature of the character. Uncle Ben needs to die, The Waynes need to be shot in Crime Alley and Krypton needs to be destroyed. Kal-El is The Last Son of Krypton.

JMHO.

I like Abrams but he took half a billion from WB and delivered nothing. Including his DC projects and the Superman film he was going to produce. He was definitely not the guy to run DC.
