Nope. In fact I expect it to. It’s a very different time. I said earlier that I’m guessing WB’s target expectations range is $500-600mil worldwide. Anything better would be gravy.

I am honestly wondering if anything is going to go bonkers at the box office. The fact that Furiosa is vastly underperforming (to the point it might lose money*) tells me this could be one of those years where nothing really clicks. What Tra-El is saying about Superman is what I am seeing about Deadpool...online and in the real world. It just doesn't feel like that film is coming out soon...

Don't get me wrong, it is going to be highly successful...but I definitely feel it has a ceiling that is much lower than people are thinking.

*edit: it is definitely going to lose money...it is crashing and burning.

Mad Max was never really a Box office Juggernaut. So you cannot expect a side character to do that well. I agree with you on Deadpool. It will start off strong at the box office but it will have to have really strong legs to get to a billion in the hot month of August. I expect Superman to do a little better than Dune 2 if it is a good movie.

Well the studio surecdid as did most of the experts...and it is bombing in epic fashion.

I have a feeling Gunn may have something up his sleeve come SDCC. I think it would be a massive mistake not having Superman on the roster. It's time to begin this thing. Seriously, let's go JG (*pokes him with a stick*)

Just give us something with a voice-over from David. We need to start getting familiarized with our new Superman. There's been crickets from this cast with only Gunn at the forefront. The reveal pic didn't even show a clear shot of Corenswet's face. Chop-chop!

Agreed. IF this was the first superman film in say, 20 or 30 years, 800 mill would be a lock no matter what, but, it isn't.
We've had two separate actors play superman since 06 on the big screen and a couple failed reboots that were canceled in production also.
Cavill appeared in several films.
Both SR and MoS failed to impress.

The public doesn't keep up with What the DCU is now called, they will for the most part think its more of the same.
It won't be until after ( if it's good ) that people will really talk positive about it. Streaming sales, etc, should be good. ( again IF It's a good film )

Barring a miracle, I think it will do good to hit 600/650, and thats prolly pushing it.

To me, the shirt rip is about as antiquated as the phone booth change. It’s not like it’s something I ever notice him doing in comics.

I don't think he is doing this, but I really hope he's not just depending on the name "Superman" alone to sell this. That no longer will cut it.
He really needs to build some excitement around this as alot of people are already very skeptical.
Promote it as a good film and action film first, and a superman film second.

I just don't get it! I mean... we had shots of Hoult in the airport. We had video and images of David filming an advert. But we've not seen anything of their entire time in GA so far? (Other than a few posts on some the actors social media)

Are they being escorted around in invisibility cloaks or something?

Lois and Lex having a history, especially romantic would be a disaster. Superman and Lex can have so many reasons for their animosity, but it was the weakest link in L and C, and it would be the weakest leak here, though having anything for Rachel, well. Now Lex and Clark, humuna humuna.
