Sorry, I didn't mean in this film itself, but Gunn has made statements that the DCU films will all be present day and we can assume based on The Brave and the Bold being about Bruce and Damian that we are dealing with an experienced Batman. So presumably in the DCU at the time of this film we have Bruce and the Bat-Family operating independently and not in anyone's pocket. So Supes would not technically be the only independent hero at this time.
I was literally talking about this movie. The whole point I was making was WHY Batman and other heroes aren’t in it, and why the heroes that are, are. :funny:

Man oh man what a suit

Of course I'll wait for the official photo and movie but...Gunn better not have every hero in some basic looking outfit. I still expect to see some high quality ones like we've had prior for some heroes and villains
James explicitly said he dislikes that take.
who knows what can happen if this universe actually thrives and lasts as long as the MCU

Deeply appreciate how goofy everyone and everything looks. The superhero genre should - not universally, but generally - maintain the aesthetics of being children's adventure heroes. Even if the material is darker I feel like there's just a sincerity to those visuals that really adds something - thinking stuff like Astro City.

Of course, I was just originally making the cheeky comment that Superman is not the only independent hero in this world as a whole, but this story will be about him being the most prominent. I would assume Bruce and Co are just seen as nutjob vigilantes confined to Gotham at this point anyways and not proper "heroes" anyways.

I guess they could always address it in the movie, but I theorize that maybe at this point in the DCU, Batman hasn't operated out of Gotham?
That’s my guess as well.

I would imagine Batman hasn’t left Gotham, Diana hasn’t come to Man’s World yet, Barry might not even have his powers yet, J’onn’s probably in disguise somewhere and Atlantis hasn’t had their coming out party to the world yet.

Alternatively they all could've done that but something happened to each of them.

Interesting. So blue guy is not Metamorpho.

I’m calling it: if the “corporate sponsorship of superheroes” is a thing in this film (and it looks that way) then Terrific, Guy, and Hawkgirl have signed with Maxwell Lord and Metamorpho is a Stagg guy because he’s getting with Stagg’s daughter.

Omgggg

I applied to be an extra back in May and haven't heard anything since. In fact, I've not heard any mention of this movie on the Cincinnati news in a while. Isn't that odd considering the shoot is in 2 weeks?

Cool people do not give themselves nicknames.

And cool people do not quote their own posts.
Oh, cool, then I'll quote myself again
."...Batman does not work in a world wherein Superman and his mythology coexist."

This Batman is seperate stance WB repeatedly puts out there , and some fans just parrot, always bugged me.

That is exactly how you play it, and why it absolutely works. That ^ statement should be exactly Batman's POV, what he believes, and should be his reaction to Superman's appearance, as completely alien, and intrusive, to "his" established world and character.
That should be the set-up to the shared U.
Two who absolutely don't belong together, not on the same planet, not in the same city, not on the same team, yet find a bigger shared and common goal.
And that forever establishes the DCU and why it works.
By launching a separate Batman universe, or rather a Batman that doesn't transition to the greater DC, WB keeps failing the greater DCU.
Falling on the self-parody Gunn launch, will likely be a fun yet one note joke, that barely goes anywhere.
WB keeps failing this franchise, due to lack of vision.

I mean this is Gunn, he's obviously going to build his whole U. on clowning the classic, to extol the fun offbeat b team.
What were people expecting?

That’s my guess as well.

I imagine Bruce has gone outside of Gotham to deal with Ra's at various times, if we are entering this universe where Damian has been conceived.

If the idea is there are superheroes going around then maybe they have been commercialisd and use a genius for their suits. As others have said....and then Supes comes in and shows them a better way. Also GL has worn some dorky looking outfits, it's all about their powers that make them bigger than life.
So basically Gunn has taken this from The Boys in addition to Black-Noir Ultraman lol. Interesting.

I'm really hoping this film gives us a Superman renaissance. The character and fans really deserve it. As a Batman fan, I'm looking forward a bit more to this than I am for The Batman: Part II.

I have hopes that this film will not only be fresh for Superman in terms of modern cinematic portrayal - but refreshing for the genre, in general.
