Hold on, what’s going on the Fillion? lol the last couple pages are the first I’ve heard people have a bone to pick with him. It sounds like someone alluded to him defending Whedon’s behavior, maybe?Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner is perfect casting. Looks wise, and personality wise (a *****e playing a *****e).
Welllllllllll, in all fairness, turning the Justice League into a corporation was the premise of JLI decades before The Boys.So basically Gunn has taken this from The Boys in addition to Black-Noir Ultraman lol. Interesting.
To be fair, the idea of corporate sponsored sellout superheroes has been around in superhero media for a long, long time. See Captain Amazing from Mystery Men for instance. So basically Gunn has taken this from The Boys in addition to Black-Noir Ultraman lol. Interesting.
My guess is it’s more the costume designer’s lack of creativity. The other suits are all leather and have a LordTech logo. I’d assume Superman’s would have the same material and a LordTech logo if that were the case. Are we meant to think Superman is on the same team as well? He has the same lines, detailing, pads, boot shape, neckline...

He was allegedly very abusive to Stana Katic on Castle.Hold on, what’s going on the Fillion? lol the last couple pages are the first I’ve heard people have a bone to pick with him. It sounds like someone alluded to him defending Whedon’s behavior, maybe?
No. Just Judianna's design patterns. Are we meant to think Superman is on the same team as well? He has the same lines, detailing, pads, boot shape, neckline...

I know that Gunn insists on always working with the seam team, and the Supersuit is fantastic, but maaaaaaan this is the perfect exemplification of my issues with his regular costume designer, it’s very obvious that everything is designed by the same person. Are we meant to think Superman is on the same team as well? He has the same lines, detailing, pads, boot shape, neckline...

I wasn't referring to it being behind the scenes, I was referring to the overall design in general. That design looks God awful for Guy Gardner. How shocking! A BTS image of a character looks bad. Don't we go through this every other day. Come On, unless you are new here...it's always how things look because it's actually the real world we are looking at... Not the film

Fair points. I wasn’t familiar with that JLI history, and I forgot about Captain Amazing. But those were quite some time ago. So considering the Black Noir lookalike, it still looks suspiciously derivative. I’m just hoping it doesn’t feel like a big-screen, watered-down rehash of The Boys. They just do that corporate parody too well.Welllllllllll, in all fairness, turning the Justice League into a corporation was the premise of JLI decades before The Boys.
I wouldn't read too much into it.Are we meant to think Superman is on the same team as well? He has the same lines, detailing, pads, boot shape, neckline...

My dude, you know Guy Gardner is essentially a sitcom character who is supposed to look like a d-bag right?I wasn't referring to it being behind the scenes, I was referring to the overall design in general. That design looks God awful for Guy Gardner.
Sounds hilariousGiven how the Cult has been behaving on social media, we really need a Drake meme of us rejecting Cavill frowning/snapping necks and approving of Corenswet saving little kids.
Fascinated by you posting one of the most well regarded team superhero books ever with excellent characterization and great humour as if a movie capturing that tone would be a bad thing.Gunn is likely click-and-paste swapping Giffen,DeMatteis,Maguire, meta off-beat "not-the Justice League" with personas routine of Cap Marvel for Superman, Mr T for Batman and Guy Gardner as his overberaing self.

I'm an old man who doesn't know how to use Photoshop, I brought it up hoping one of the Youths around here might do it.Sounds hilarious
Yeah you'd better get on that

Falling on the self-parody Gunn launch, will likely be a fun yet one note joke, that barely goes anywhere.
I'm the one here from the start pointing out exactly what this is.Fascinated by you posting one of the most well regarded team superhero books ever with excellent characterization and great humour as if a movie capturing that tone would be a bad thing.

I still have some worries, but the more I see the more optimistic and hyped I become.I just hope that everyone who had concerns about James Gunn in the beginning (understandably so) can finally rest easy, or at least grow a bit more optimistic about the movie we’re gonna get.
With everything we’ve seen so far, it really feels like the character and its core elements will be brought back to where they need to be.
Using phrases like this, in the same way MAGAts and Conservatives unironically say things like “liberal Socialist agenda“ and “the radical left” like it’s some sort of gotcha to the opposition without understanding what they’re actually talking about, makes it really hard to take your opinions seriously.self-parody Gunn launch
I am continually reassured by these pics that Gunn knows what this movie needs to be. His ability to actually pull off the balancing act required here is what I remain worried about, because it’s not quite like the films he’s done previously. And that concern will probably remain right up to the release. But I’m optimistic. At the very least, even if the tonal balance doesn’t work and the rest of the film is a mess, I’m already seeing Superman scenes here that I’ll be thankful for and be able to adore for the rest of my days. And that’s a great feeling.I just hope that everyone who had concerns about James Gunn in the beginning (understandably so) can finally rest easy, or at least grow a bit more optimistic about the movie we’re gonna get.

Having a comedic edge does not mean it is a one note joke. Personally, I was a lot less interested in this project when it was sounding like an ultra classic take and am now substantially more intrigued.I'm the one here from the start pointing out exactly what this is.
