Of course. He can’t just have his mercurial junk hanging out for all the rest of the team to see. There’s such a thing as propriety. :o
I figured they were going with his newer design where he has black textured skin.

He’s already on their “death to” list so it’s ok. :o
His previous comment that “the bar has been lowered so far down that so long as the new Superman doesn’t kill anyone, it’s an improvement” statement probably didn’t endear himself to them.

He was the first comics writer to call out MoS back when it first came out so they’ve pretty much always hated him lol.

I like Mark Waid but I was annoyed by his comments as well. Sometimes that dude thinks he is the end all be all of comic opinions and knowledge.

I’ve disagreed with Waid on a few things regarding Supes, and I don’t think anyone’s the “end all be all” authority, but he IS a comics historian and certainly knows more history than I or the people making the movies, which gives him the right to state his opinions with more credibility and authority on the subject than most.

My only deviation from Waid’s opinions is that I like the marriage of Clark and Lois, but even I have to admit that he makes a good case for why it isn’t the best course for the characters.

But anyone whose resume includes, in my opinion:
-the greatest Justice League story ever (Tower of Babel)
-the greatest Flash story ever (The Return of Barry Allen)
-one of the best Superman stories ever, and possibly his best origin story (Birthright)
-as well as the greatest comic book ever made (Kingdom Come)

Has earned the right to say whatever he wants about comics.

I forgot they attempted a Fleischer shield in Super Pets.

The funniest thing is the irony and it's always that. All they do is **** on what people like but will definitely get mad about someone ****ting on what they like.

I think Waid, while a competent writer with good politics, mostly comes off like a smug whiny prick even when he's right about comics stuff (I completely agree with his MoS take for the most part but just how he expresses it makes my eyes roll into the back of my head) which unfortunately often gets reflected in the meta subtext of his comics being incredibly whiny about shallow **** that doesn't matter. That being said he is absolutely technically correct here lol

Mark Waid was completely wrong about the last movie version of Superman in my opinion.

Didn't agree with pretty much any criticism he brought up.

That said i like what he said about Krypto being in this movie and Gunn's approach.

I think it's valid for Superman.

For me and I might just be alone in this but I feel that Superman can be many different tones.

I don't think there's only one way he can be adapted.

So I'm very much looking forward to this Superman 2025 despite being a fan of the Snyder films as well.

I thought Waid's initial commentary on MOS was pretty clearly framed as his personal opinion. He was fair, he attempted to give the film some credit, he just spoke honestly about the feelings of heart break it produced within him.

Of course, it helps that I was going through similar feelings, and so found resonance with one of my favourite writers quite comforting at the time.

I don’t disagree with that notion, and I think that’s true for most characters. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think there are just plain bad adaptations, and the previous iteration was one of the absolute worst in the character’s 86 years of existence in my opinion. Because removing the “Superman” of it all from the equation, I find it from a filmmaking/storytelling perspective to be poorly-written, poorly-directed, poorly-paced and poorly-acted. The Donner films also had an approach to the character I don’t like (the Clark side, anyway), but I can at least still appreciate those from the film craft perspective (less so the non-Donner sequels, but Reeve still did great work in those at least). MoS having an approach to Superman that I didn’t care for was just the icing on top of an already terrible cake. The only thing I unabashedly loved in that film was the score. Hans Zimmer was the only one who brought his A-game to that production imo.

I don’t care much for Gunn, but he has proven himself to be a far more competent storyteller in every department than the previous custodian of the character was imo, so I’m fairly confident I will at least appreciate this film more than the last one. Even if I will maybe, probably…almost certainly consider the score a downgrade. ;)

I’m a tad wary around large dogs — and try to maintain a prudent distance. So a large dog with heat vision (!) would be, for me, especially nerve-racking. ;nd

Mark will try to take Grant Morrison's Superman crown. :o
