The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

The launch of Superman heralds the reboot of a major franchise, and this is the very first trailer that's being shown. It's a pretty big deal. Gunn will probably go into further detail about his plans for the DCU, which will be reported by the press—particularly those in attendance, so no one named Jeff Sneider—over the next few days.
And with Rachel (and presumably David) in attendance, this will likely be the first time hearing from them without the veil of “Well, I really can’t say anything, but…”

Was Jeff Sneider the doofus who got duped into thinking that some random dude who had never acted in anything was cast as Lex Luthor in Man of Steel way back when? I think it was him but maybe I’m remembering wrong.

You can't play the victim when the studio denies you access because you choose not to play ball.

It would be one thing if he choose to go that route and was willing to live with the lack of access and was honest about it, but you can't have it both ways my guy. I am not going to feel sorry for you.

"More music focused"

Very Gunn
They clearly corrected themselves and said “music”, as in trailer music, not “song”.

Going by the music we heard in that motion poster, it is apparent he is not doing his usual shtick with this trailer. I get that you’re not the biggest fan of him and have issues with him over some things, but come on.

Look, I want to get news and updates on Wonder Woman in the DCU as much as you, but we have to be patient. This universe is just starting out, and we only have a few confirmed announcements and updates on Lanterns, writing/directing and casting for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Luca Guadagnino directing Sgt. Rock and a Clayface film being produced and written by Mike Flanagan, and that’s not even to mention the TV shows and movies that were announced but haven’t gotten updates for nearly 2 years. We’ve either only had announcements of the titles of those projects amd/or just leaks and rumors.

If this franchise is to have a great foundation, they need to get Superman right first. He is one of the few cornerstones, if not the cornerstone, of the DC comics universe and what this universe will be. If they don’t get him right, then we don’t get a DCU, and we don’t get any of this other stuff.

Gunn obviously learned from his time at Marvel Studios on what not to do, and he’s not looking to make the same mistakes with this. He’s taking his time with this and wanting to get this right. He wants to take it slow, so we’re probably not going to get announcements for a lot of these things for a while. If him slow rolling this and taking his time results in quality films and series, then I’m willing to wait a bit longer.

Why is Jeff Sneider such a hot topic lol. There's like thousands of guys out there like him in Twitterland. Who cares how that guy moves.

Because the other ones keep failing upward by doing little YouTube channels pretending they're still part of the media. :o

I loved the teaser, hearing that score made me emotional. Sure it’s the classic one but it’s not just a rehash and nostalgia, there’s a lot there that hints at superman’s lonliness which is a really interesting angle for this. It’s perfect

Man time flies! It felt like forever ago and just yesterday that we were discussing casting for the film and now we are days away from a teaser trailer! The fate of Superman will be decided for some in a few days. Big time fingers crossed we all get what we want this time.

Yeah, it feels like I barely have the right to expect a trailer when just yesterday we got the set pics from filming in Atlanta and Cleveland with Corenswet in costume.

No reports on the viewing? Apart from the one we had. I dunno what time it is in America so it might even be tomorrow for me.

I was expecting something from the Press screening. Seems to have been very quiet. Unless they're under some sort of embargo until Thursday?

I think this Superman seems to be coming quickly because, for once, the film has developed normally. 😅

Forgetting the reception that BvS was given, it's undeniable that it was one of the most anticipated films by the fan communities... we were told about it for 3 years. We had three Comic-Con with announcements and trailers before seeing this film.
Then the enthusiasm died down to wake up years later with The Batman which promised a certain renewal (no pun intended). It took 3 years (ok, 35 months...) between Reeves signing on the project and the start of a filming which itself was stopped for months because of the Covid crisis. The film was finally released almost 2 years later.

But this Superman, once again an event film for multiple reasons, experienced a relatively fast development and a shooting without any setbacks.
This time, only two years have passed between the announcement of the film in December 2022 and this December when we will discover the first trailer.

We're not used to things going well anymore... :funny:

You are right, I guess that brings on the fear...if everything is going right then the only thing left to fail is...the film....but I'm holding on.

I’m sure they’re under embargo. I think the point of the event today was to have interviews and articles ready to release with the trailer on Thursday.

Apparently, this is one of the "good questions" he asked at the last DC press event he was invited to.

Like a modern day Richard Thornburg.

Why we bringing WW into it? Or his plans? I certainly haven't said anything about it in here lol.

Would've thought i gave a scathing review of the trailer i haven't seen or of the poster that I've already complimented
