Lawd people falling for @Black Narcissus and his leaks! :o :lmao:

Humor does not have to be straight up silliness. Most Supes stuff has plenty of humor. He's a comic book character know for being a bit of a dork. Which is why My Adventures with Superman is peak.
The kind of humor Gunn often goes for is a different story though, which, if these leaks are true.....yeesh.

Those are actually the reddit leaks. Doubt they're real but who knows.
Anyone else feel like the trailer is dropping on Superman day?
I know they are...but if he is pimping them you need lots of grains of salt. That Bald Bahstahd can't be trusted he loves to troll Supes fans :o

Lol those comedic aspects are not even that crazy. These yeeshs and yikes feel quite conservative.

And Gunn has made fairly cruel villians before and it can work. The audience isn't really supposed to like the things Lex does. It is drastic though.

In hindsight, it was pretty cruel to put the Superman panel on April 1st!!
God knows what nonsense will be pushed out today by 'scoopers'.

Chris Gore dropped a video yesterday about test screenings for Superman, he said from one of his sources that was at the screening said that is was overwhelmingly positive, with someone yelling "F4 is effed." He seems to know a lot of plot (he did not spoil it) but said it sounds epic.

Most of the test screening reviews have been positive. Especially the most recent ones. Even Sneider said something positive about the recent reviews. Don’t get me wrong, test screenings you take with a grain of salt and the negative reviews to me sound suspiciously like they were written by some of the cult. I just can’t get BVS standing ovation or Wonder Woman is a mess out of my head.

I'll be that guy but I don't see how animal cruelty from the bad guy would be more of a taboo/problem to audience than regular violence?
I mean, there are also different ways of showing it and it's something you can even occasionally see in some cartoons/anime, etc....
I'm also not American and never understood how you can have blood in movies but no swearing or nudity, so... what do I know? :o

More seriously, it would make sense for Luthor to attack Krypto and a good way to have most of the public really mad at him, since so many people are just utra-sensitive with pets.

------

Something in the leaks that, in my opinion, really feels like something Gunn would do is the way Jimmy apparently tries super hard to "get girls" while rejecting Teshmacher, with the final irony of being able to help Superman through her (PG 13) sexting to him.

Sorry to be slightly off topic, but is there a general Cinema Con thread to follow anywhere?

100% but I do like to hear good things about this movie lol!
I have just finished Superman the movie and Superman II. I bet if those movies came out today they would get mixed reviews. What is scary to me is Man of Steel is the best Superman movie by far in my opinion but Reeves and Routh where better Supermen then Cavill. Superman and Lois was the best live action Supes show but My Adventures with Superman seems to be something special after two seasons.

I know this is 'good news', but Chris Gore doesn't deserve to be cited for anything.

The leaks sound awesome to me; hoping we see a trailer today or later this month so we can get the hype machine running again for this movie

I mean John Wick is a thing...

Basically every film that "test screens" is mixed. You'll hear "positive" and "negative" reports, because the people that the studio pulls are by random and they show different audiences cuts of the film that aren't even finished. It's a moot point until July. And even then, we can't go by the first screenings because that is when all the fan and shill accounts will report that it's the greatest movie ever. It's important now more than ever before than to just go into these films and judge for yourself.

We ALL know that there will be sides that will pump Superman up to be the greatest thing ever with zero flaws that will be "peak cinema" and "aura". The other half will label it the worst Superman movie ever and how big of a joke Gunn is and to restore things back to what came before. Both sides are playing up the fake hyperbole and are quite frankly, extremely annoying.

For me, it's always an open mind, and I will tell it like it is and it will be my own opinion. I was hyped for Superman Returns and I did not end up liking that movie (putting it lightly). I understand that if I dislike it? I will be labeled a "Cultist". If I like it? I will be labeled a "Gunnt". If I'm so-so? I won't be a "Real DC fan". So be it. I have no time for stupidity.

For the sake of Superman, I hope it's great. None of us are getting any younger with this stuff. The juvenile behavior can kick rocks on how social media acts nowadays, but that won't stop me from giving my honest opinion on what I see fit. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is valid.

Perfectly said. 👌

MOS was good,
But, it just wasn’t uplifting enough.

It had it's moments, as did SR.
The smallville fight and first flight in mos was on point.
As was the plane and shuttle save scene in SR.

For me, in mos, the metropolis fight felt like overkill after the Smallville fight. It was too much of a good thing, and Superman spent most of the film brooding.

And in SR, it didn't feel like Superman had a real threat except for kryptonite.
He spent most of the film trying to steal Lois back.

Read the leaks. Some interesting choices in there for sure which some fans won't like and some will. I think the movie will appeal to the GA a bit more though.

For me, the event of seeing a Superman film on opening weekend will always cloud my judgement somewhat because I've got myself so hyped up.

I remember going to see Returns with a group of friends & felt like I had to apologise to them for the super kid plot line. I came out of it feeling disappointed. But rewatches over the years have softened my opinion on it.

MoS, I loved in the cinema. But watching it back now, I find myself fast forwarding through a lot of the non action stuff because I just don't engage with it.

I'm hoping this Superman film will be that unicorn of opening night hype and enjoyable re-watchability.

If the new trailer drops today - when would be the time it'd be likely to drop?

Gunn will be on stage for WB/DC at 7:30pm Eastern Time; USA I believe. So anywhere between 7:30-8:30pm ET unless it drops online early/leaks.
