I can’t wait for the day I come in here and this film is in active development

It's always tricky with screenwriters. They usually have a mixed track record for one reason or another. Sometimes their name will be on a script but their vision is lost during the production process when others writers are brought in or the director alters the script. Sometimes a writer might be comfortable writing one genre but not other. Academy Awards or critical acclaim from one screenplay doesn't automatically crossover to another screenplay.

There are plenty of great screenwriters or directors who I don't think would be a great fit for Superman while they're might be lesser known screenwriters or directors that seem like a better match. At least in theory.

Makes perfect sense, I have often wondered how many writers are over looked that could be perfect, just because their resume was lacking.

In a way, I have felt the writers of the office - BJ Novak etc aren't involved in some capacity to give it that human element of life. By this I mean, the team needs to be just that, a team, I don't think one writer can do it alone.

Damon Lindelof should write this, now that he's 100% not doing more Watchmen

A few years back a couple of movie studios briefly tried writer's rooms for franchise films like they have with television shows. The writers would brainstorm an overall vision and break it down film by film assigning each film a writer or writing team. This was attempted with Sherlock Holmes 3 and with the Transformers franchise leading to Bumblebee. This practice was quickly abandoned and they're all pretty much back to the standard approach.

Some screenwriters have writing deals with studios so you'll see them work on several WB films or Fox film scripts. Often times the writer has a relationship with the producer or director from previous projects. You can sometimes guess who the screenwriter will be based on the name of the producer or director. This can also be determined based on how the project went into active development. The usual pattern is the studio and producer hire screenwriters first and then the director but it can be the other way around.

I've read a ton of genre scripts, usually early drafts, and it's amazing to see how much changes from the first draft to the shooting draft and then further altered during filming. That's why it can also be a little unfair to judge a leaked script in draft form and automatically discount it.

I recently read a draft of Lethal Weapon 2. It had a completely different beginning. Very dull. So what changed? Richard Donner didn't like the opening and wanted to jump right in the middle of the action with Riggs and Murtaugh during a chase scene. He came up with the new opening and called up screenwriter Jeffrey Boam and they worked out the new scene, sometimes over the phone. The actors take what can be ordinary material, especially when read on paper and make it come to life. That's the magic of film collaboration and film making.

Does anyone here that can do good photoshop work want to do a commission for me? Im wanting a poster designed for my Superman story that I have been working on. I will pay you.

You know what? I want a new guy more than anyone, but if they brought Routh back, I wouldn’t give a ****. :funny:

He should be in the film somehow...

Heard Cavill may play the role again in a cameo appearance in Space Jam 2 with LeBron GOAT James

Only one GOAT and it isn’t the dude who went 3 for 9 on the big stage. And needed to hop teams and stack the deck roster wise every few years.

Okay but at least Cavill gets to cameo again as Kal El in the Space Jam sequel and other movie iconic characters will also cameo too

Yea that’s cool. But anyone calling LeBron the GOAT :funny:

Realistically he’s on that tier with Magic and Bird.

Sure as hell isn’t the actual GOAT, MJ. You know ... the guy that went 6 for 6 in the Finals.

Spoken like a Gen Zer.

But with Cavill being confirmed as Superman and more or less being confirmed to be in Shazam 2 and Black Adam well it makes sense to have MOS2 happen now but if not...then I am okay with Supes showing up in other heroes' films basically as a bridge towards an eventual JL reboot

None of that (Space Jam 2 or Shazam 2) is remotely confirmed.

Honestly I am just ready for them to reboot Superman and move forward if that's what there plan truly is. I love what Snyder did with the character and I wish that is was better received so we can see more movies but at the end of the day I just wish WB would release the Snyder Cut (so people will stop asking about it and give a proper ending to that world) and then be more active on a Superman movie. Personally I have no interest on seeing a Superman who is more like Donner/Reeve Superman and prefer seeing a more post crisis/Earth One Superman. Because as I said before I like to see a Superman who isn't widely loved or trusted or accepted. I think that's what was great about Snyder's movie is that they put Superman in the real world and made people react to him as how we would. That's something I would still like for them to keep in a reboot however I also believe they should reboot Superman on HBO Max with his own 8-12 episode series and I believe they should've done the same with Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman that way you give them a shared world and have more time to flesh everybody and the world out and have better stories and just bring them to the big screen for Justice League movies.

How the world sees Superman in these last few films have never bothered me. I've been disappointed to how Superman sees himself and the world. There's a whole big area to explore between the Donner and Snyder versions. A middle ground that I think can be critically and commercially successful.

I agree.
