I swear if they give Margot/Harley another solo movie and not Superman..
Highly doubt that given her god awful solo bombed and lost money. I just wanna know what WB’s plans are exactly. On the surface it sounds like there getting back into bed with snyder to give fans closer but if his cut is a hit then what do you do? Move forward with what they had planned 3 years ago?
I honestly think WB is testing the waters right now. They got interest piqued when they announced the Snyder cut of JL (with Cavill in attendance), now with the announced cameo(s).
They might get the ball rolling on MOS2 if the Snyder Cut is extremely well-received next year.

Testing the waters. If the cameo is well-received, he might get another solo. If it goes over like a lead-balloon like his other appearances, they'll move on for a fresh start. That's my guess. So I ask again, what's even the point?

Sorry, I just do not see it. WB knows what they are getting with Cavill. They've had three movies now for the audience to decide how they feel about him. Hardcore fans love or like him, and the general audience is indifferent to him.
Exactly. And even if you consider the scenario of them rebooting Superman with a new actor - they probably wouldn't want to introduce the new guy in a Shazam cameo instead of letting the new director get to do his own thing, either, so it would still make more sense to just stick with Henry for that.Superman being a supporting character in Shazam 2 or whatever has probably been in the cards for awhile. WB doesn't seem to have any faith in Superman's popularity as a solo act so it makes sense to me they'd try making him an ensemble player.
I’d prefer they let the character stay dormant until they have an exciting direction to take and draw people in.Exactly. Pretty much agree, I would actually be really concerned that another Cavill Superman movie would just kill the Superman solo franchise even deader than it currently is unless he somehow became a beloved figure from these cameos.I’d prefer they let the character stay dormant until they have an exciting direction to take and draw people in.
Unless Cavill and co. do something radical to reinvigorate the brand (I have my doubts), the mountain of indifference and skepticism towards this character is only going to make it more difficult for a new take to overcome.
Batman Begins has this issue all throughout production and theatrical run. That’s with 8 years of the series laying dormant after B&R, and with shining up-and-comers in Nolan/Bale.
I suspect the Shazam cameo (if it is Shazam), coming from that team, will be very charming and heartwarming and remind people that they like Supes and that he has something to offer. And it could be WB's way of just reminding people they haven't forgotten about him, while they work on getting a project going that they actually believe in. Just something to tide people over, basically. And maybe, depending on its nature, it could even be designed as a poignant send-off to Henry's tenure (especially if the Snyder Cut doesn't provide any closure of the sort), who knows.I’d prefer they let the character stay dormant until they have an exciting direction to take and draw people in.

Superman was afforded two great back-to-back opportunities with this.Pretty much agree, I would actually be really concerned that another Cavill Superman movie would just kill the Superman solo franchise even deader than it currently is unless he somehow became a beloved figure from these cameos.
Superman deserves the kind of passionate, ground up reboot Batman is getting.
A Superman film needs to be special. It needs to be unique and it needs to be great. The character has a lot to prove and, it pains me to say this, I don't think he's particularly popular among the general audience.Superman was afforded two great back-to-back opportunities with this.
Once in 2006, right when the genre was really starting to grab its footing and taking off with the masses.
Even after that one failed, miraculously just a mere seven years later, another shot at a full-on reboot and it cemented the IPs failure to break through.
I don't know if this brand can survive another strike. Maybe the transition from cameo, to ensemble piece, to solo adventures, ala MCU Spider-Man, is what they're trying to emulate. But I still think it's a mistake if it's with Cavill.
Hopefully it's the latter. Henry will knocking 40's door down before this gets really up and running.I suspect the Shazam cameo (if it is Shazam), coming from that team, will be very charming and heartwarming and remind people that they like Supes and that he has something to offer. No argument there!Hopefully it's the latter. Henry will knocking 40's door down before this gets really up and running.
While he certainly looks more phenomenal than most men that age, it's not a journey I'm interested in watching for the long-term. Give me young Supes to grow with.
