I feel the weakest part of this film will be the villains for me...aside from Lex, hopefully. We'll see.
At this point, I’d probably sign up for that

Give me a Lois and Clark that everyone falls in love with and I think that makes this whole thing work. Lex to a lesser extent as well, assuming he’s gonna pop up around the DCU in other stuff

Yeah, I’m sure Donner is an influence given Gunn’s age and appreciation for that film but it’s pretty obvious there are tons of other influences at play. Mixing Donner with the best of post-crisis Superman comics sounds like a great recipe to me, frankly makes me a lot more interested in this than I would be if it was just doing the banal John Byrne snoozefest take.
I like you. Can we be friends? :whoops:

I'm reaching the point of wondering if I should stop looking at pics...but I never do stop.
I am way to addicted to the process to have that kind of will power. I also don't know for sure whether spoilers really spoil anything for me, or whether the joy of increased hype and spinning theories is worth the trade off.

Wonder if this is the sequence of events:

Lex does something that makes Superman completely lose his cool, probably has to do with Luthor framing him. > Superman goes to confront Lex who's at City Hall and throws him across the room or something, hence the injuries > Ultraman and The Engineer appear to restrain Superman > Fight > Superman gets arrested, Luthor's plan succeeds.

Interesting scenario, but I doubt it will be that Supes completely loses his cool. If Clark loses his cool, people die. It's not like Batman losing his cool and people get roughed up a bit. Clark has to always be in control to some extent otherwise very bad, things you can't take back happen. That is one of the most endearing and heroic parts about Superman.

This Ultraman is a variant of Supes right?

Ultraman poses as Supes, probably does a number on Lex in public, the real Supes shows up and gets framed for it and carted away by Ultraman just in time.

What if what if this isn't Superman in the collared suit and it's been Ultraman all along and the real Superman comes along in a Rebirth like moment.

Superman losing his cool would be to the extent of him going out to confront Luthor recklessly (which again, could be just as simple as throwing him across the room to interrogate him) and I think it can be justified depending on whatever it is Luthor did. I'm not saying he's out to kill people lol But he does something that scares them and gives the last push for him to be apprehended.

I'm just throwing out a guess here, BUT, I have a feeling Lex uses this guy in black to frame superman, when he himself did the dirty deed.
He's ( apparently ) more powerful than superman. Or the other heroes helped him defeat superman.
Superman gets locked up in a special super max prison. He's probably kept weak under either red sun rays or kryptonite.

Once superman's out of the way, the man in black goes on a rampage to force nations around the world to bend the knee to him, A forced peace.
The other heroes ( and Lex ) can't stop him, so they free superman.

I'll take my winnings in cash if this turns out to be true. :o

Either way, I'm convinced Lex uses this guy to frame superman.
I think he may use Lex also.
Once superman is outta the way, ultraman
( if it's him ) decides he no longer needs Lex, and he will do what ultraman does best, ie, take over.
