Imagine if Dawn of the Dead wasn't written by James Gunn and it was written by Zack Sn.... oh right.

Wasn't DotD a page 1 rewrite over a Gunn's though?

I think there’s a definite New 52 foundation to it. But with the colors, trunks and emblem, they’ve taken liberties where even that design is concerned. And after as many times as we’ve seen this character portrayed on-screen, it’s only natural for them to go for a more unique combination of elements. They’ve still managed to come out looking like a fairly classic Supes.
They’ve thrown several inspirations into a blender on this suit. It’s not armor like the New 52. The shield is part Kingdom Come, but pure Warworld. The materials have that cozy All-Star vibe. The whole package resembles the MAWS suit more than anything else to me, but it’s very much its own thing.

The Dawn remake was his script from the get go, they hired Snyder for director after that.
Right, but wasn't there a rewrite? Either way, it was a great team and great flick. Well liked, too.

There is also shades of Superman IV. Superman getting caught up in an international conflict, Lex Luthor funding weapons dealing, an evil clone as the villain.
One of the scoopers (can’t remember which) said a long time ago that this movie’s plot was like a reimagining of Superman IV and I didn’t hate it. :funny: On paper, that movie could’ve been great! It just…wasn’t lol.

I’ve always hated the “framed by a clone” rumor because it sounds like the plot of a Saturday morning cartoon, or a bad spinoff comic from the 90s.

No way Gunn reintroduces the character with such a lame plot line. This Superman is still young and establishing himself, he hasn’t built up enough of a reputation for him being “framed” to have any impact anyway 😭
‘Incredibly stupid sci fi cartoon plot taken entirely emotionally seriously’ is sort of the ideal narrative for a CBM, imo. Superman in particular.

I would hope so giving all directors that ever existed have their own style and eye for story and framework lol. That wasn't necessarily the point, but in all fairness, all superhero films have lots of the same beats. It's the matter of fresh ideas of a crafted story and acting.

Lot of em in this genre aren’t all that singular, but sure. Superman getting apprehended doesn’t really strike me as some troubling, unoriginal story beat though. It’s almost a trope for him.

When we're all seated, nobody will notice or be paying attention to all the similarities of what the genre has churned out. It will be the performance's that sell it, and this cast can act their asses off, for sure.

I loved the first three seasons of The Flash & Arrow, steady decline for me personally after that. The last two seasons of The Flash was really tough to watch for me.

You'd think they'd have put a tiny bit of effort on Flash's final season as the swan song of the whole Arrowverse.

But nope, still as unwatchable as the previous season.
