And it is interesting that he is doing all this stuff with a heavily damaged suit, which I guess means he is doing all this during the third act?

Not to start you or me spiralling, but I hope Gunn can balance this lighter stuff along with whatever the big third act threat is. We don't want tonal whiplash or a sense that Supes is not treating the presumed crisis with due seriousness (eg. Clark and Lois making out in MOS while downtown Metropolis collapses behind them).
Honestly the thought is starting to cross my mind too. Like... is there such a thing as too much cuteness?

Minor detail, but I dig the 70s look on the extras. With that plus the Metropolis posters and hot dog cart and whatnot, I like that you can kind of guess the film's color palette in advance.

I don't think too much cuteness is likely, but just there is an appropriate time and a place for it. I mean even All-Star Superman, which is very much an ode to Silver Age Superman, leaves the lighter elements out during the climax.

Just gonna put my tinfoil hat back on for a sec and throw it out there…the way he was flying beforehand and just stopped to have this random interaction with a squirrel (in that battle damaged suit)…suddenly giving me strong Bizarro vibes. Just sayin! 🤷‍♀️

Superman embracing the kids in the crowd and just being friendly is so lovely to see. Wholesome moments between these superheroes and random civilians seem so few and far between in all these adaptions these days. Which is a shame when they're the backbone of the genre.

I watched that set piece over and over. I can't get enough of it.🥰

It does look like the symbol on Gardner's chest says "JL" but I think people have been saying it's Lordtech's logo. Either way, can't wait to see what Gunn is cooking up haha.
Yeah, it appears they are wearing Lord tech uniforms. The plot thickens. What does Gunn have up his sleeve. Are they recruiting Supes?

That is a good shout. There is a part of me that has been wondering that as well, especially in light of the unusual crowd scene in the damaged suit yesterday.

The full context of that crowd scene seemed to be that Superman watched a video on a phone that then disturbed him and everyone else. I don't think it's Bizarro.

He moved like Bizarro. Kind of reminded me of the Superman III bar scene "what are you looking at, huh, huh"?!
This could just be weird lighting, but I kinda wonder if the eyebrows are missing in these shots:

In the last, he even kinda seems to be holding his jaw forward in that sort of Bizarro underbite look.

Are we sure the phone thing was even when the cameras were rolling? Given how Fillion and Merced are casually standing around, I assumed it was Corenswet between takes being a good sport and taking a photo for an extra or something:

You can see Braham filming directly in his face and even moving the camera around. Also it was a full minute so I don't think it was just taking a photo either, it looks more like he's watching a video.

As for this walk, it reads more to me like he's both kinda limping and panicking:

Oh, that is a different shot than I thought you referring to, see photo in my previous post.

Still seems consistent with Bizarro. He could be panicking because he realizes he isn't the real Superman or something.

I’m as much a comics purist as anyone you will ever meet. But if you expected that cinematic Hawkgirl was going to have a bikini top and low rise cycling shorts as her costume, you were crazy and destined for disappointment

Plus, as has been discussed for like 15 pages yesterday, the costumes are clearly integral and related to the storyline of the film. There’s a reason that they are wearing matching jackets with a logo of Maxwell Lord’s company on them. That isn’t just a creative choice

Yes I think it looks similar. I knew it was Hawkgirl right away...and I will bet money it looks different on screen just like every suit does.

Look I get it, you are some sort of uber purist or something...cool. I get your criticisms, I just think you are hyberbolic about it.

While I never expected to see Hawkgirl wear a bikini top and green shorts on film, a white and black leather jacket isn't what I had in mind either.

If anything, I figured that they would do something a little similar to how Hawkman was translated on film (Black Adam).

For the record, I am not a some sort of uber purist when it comes to comic book costumes However, there's nothing wrong with wanting to see something that resembles the basic template of the character's appearance.

Like others have already said, I really hope there's an actual narrative reason behind those costumes. Aside from the design choice, the costumes just look both poor and lazy in quality.

I don't really think there's any reason to think it's Bizarro. Everything he's done is very Superman-y. Saving a dog, saving a little girl, saving squirrel, going out to hug some kids, and even in full context you can see that it's not so much they're scared of him, they just reacted to whatever he reacted to as well. I also don't think there was anything off in the slightest with his movements, at most it looked like he was limping a bit but he had just come down from a very intense battle.

Something that I'm a little confused about Twitter's full-blown meltdown is that they insist that Maxwell Lord is not a villain, so then why are they so upset about the Terrifics working for him?

What you're describing is exactly what an Superman would do but taken to the max. Almost like he's "learning" or trying to act like Superman.

Is he “saving” that squirrel? Because it looked to me like he stopped mid-flight to have a friendly interaction with it like it was the first squirrel he’d ever encountered.
