It just seems like a choice the guy who used Starro would make to me.That has got to be the most out there villain choice and I don't know if I like it or not. A sentient star.

What's interesting is that Gunn has said most footage is from the beginning of the film and only a few shots of the ending. Thanks, man! Yeah, there is something weird about that suit. The fit seems different as well. A good deal looser. He also continues to have the blackening on his face/skin from the park scene in addition to the suit damage.
I previously thought this was evidence of the rumoured clone/doppelganger, but now I am wondering that if this is actually Clark, is he de-powered/weakened here or something?
Maybe Supes is literally a bit physically deflated here. Would explain controversial reveal photo of Supes seeming to put his boots on slowly while a massive crisis is going on here. Would also explain Lois's seeming trepidation when holding his hand and giving him a hug. Like there is a legitimate fear here that Superman is not his usually invincible self and in much greater personal danger than usual.
Any theories yet on what's going on in the background?

It's an "ocular laser strike."That has got to be the most out there villain choice and I don't know if I like it or not. A sentient star.
I don’t think that’s what “ocular laser strike” is referring to. That’s something shot from the creature’s (or “Hammer’s”) eyes that damaged a factory. I think that happens earlier in the film. Whatever’s going on in that night image is much bigger than that imo. It's an "ocular laser strike."

I agree. To me, Reeves Batman was as grounded in realism as nolan's Batman was.Including Battinson in the DCU feels a little like creative betrayal. We all get what Reeves's Batverse is about... it's a crime drama, where the most power you can have is through lots of guns, lots of manpower. That's compelling enough. The word "organic" gets overused a lot, but if they throw Battinson and Gunn's Superman together, it'll feel very much not that. We'll all know: it's a corporate move done for brand management purposes. That sense of fidelity to a vision is precious... why lose it for no reason?
Let them do what they planned. An alternate, more fantastical Batman that has Robin, Ra's, Killer Croc, Dr Phosphorus, all the stuff that doesn't fit tonally with Reeves's thing. Works fine.
I wrote a similar idea in the sense of talking about the states of Supes above If you missed it.Just a thought here, but what if the scenes with the crowd angry at supes isn't supes at all, but the clone.
Remember the shot of supes busting out of the cage?
Maybe Lex has captured him, and the clone fills in ( by order of Lex) but he fails miserably at being Superman. Lex loses control of him and the clone starts being judge, jury, and executioner, and the world turns on him.
All the while the real superman is held prisoner, either by kryptonite or red sun rays.
And Lex, in order to save his own azz, helps take the clone out.
First thing I thought of was a depowering chamber ala Superman II and somehow, Supes' allies figured out a way to reverse the energy. That would be a cool call-back to the Reeve films when he gave up his powers and reversed it on everyone else.I'm finally off for the holidays so I am just going through the trailer for the first time with a fine tooth comb.
Also realized that in the shot of Superman punching his way out of the glass cage, there appears to be someone standing behind projecting a very intense white light at Supes (you can see this person's reflection in the glass walls of both sides of the cage while the people outside the cell recoil and cover their eyes.
My guess is Supes was being depowered by some means in order to keep him captive (red sun or what have you) and one or his fellow heroes has come to break him out and somehow brought along some yellow sun energy in order to give him some of his strength back. Which would explain why he still needs to be on one knee and use all of his strength to break through the glass.
I tried screenshotting it, but the image was blown out. I assume Windows screen capture can't handle that I am watching this in 4K HDR.
Also, Batman lends himself beautifully to different interpretations.Including Battinson in the DCU feels a little like creative betrayal. We all get what Reeves's Batverse is about... it's a crime drama, where the most power you can have is through lots of guns, lots of manpower. That's compelling enough. Batman is still Batman even after he finds out he has a son.I feel we are going to very much get a Bat Daddy, he is still wanting to fight crime but he isn't as mental and weird as we are normally use to. I think Batman is actually going to be comedic in other films and then badass in his own..but still bat daddy
Because that really is the thing really difficult to convince the audience in a Superman movie.I'm really curious to see how gunns gonna manage to convince us how clark wears the supersuit under his clothes.
Haha yeah I'm not about dilf Batman but I have a feeling he is going to be more chill than Batman's before. Apart from films Batman is fun and has a sense of humour and actually seems "recovered" from his issues and recruits people to do what he can't.Batman is still Batman even after he finds out he has a son.
Not referring to you, but I find it weird how some want him to be a cheesy "sitcom daddy" for the oh so wholesome dilf kink crowd.
A characterization harking back to the Bronze Age, the Grant Morrison run or , recently, Mark Waid's World's Finest comics would be a nice counterbalance to Reeves' Batman.
Maybe throw in some of the humor of the interactions he had during the JLI era.
But none of this crap, please:

This is just depressing.
People should look for their pixie manic daddy elsewhere...
The light isn't coming from the chamber itself. As mentioned, it is coming from the waist of the person standing behind Supes, who is also in the chamber, whom I have a feeling is either Guy or Terrific based on what we can see of their clothing.First thing I thought of was a depowering chamber ala Superman II and somehow, Supes' allies figured out a way to reverse the energy. That would be a cool call-back to the Reeve films when he gave up his powers and reversed it on everyone else.
What if meto and supes are put in a glass "wrestling ring" and they eventually come to an understanding and Meto uses their power to.power up Supes and off he goesThe light isn't coming from the chamber itself. As mentioned, it is literally coming from the waist of the person standing behind Supes, whom I have a feeling is either Guy or Terrific based on what we can see of their clothing.
This is extremely close to my theory from the summer during production based on the set photos we got. However, the scene with the public turning on Supes in the park, as well as the one of Supes looking pained at the Staff building, feature the burned suit as well as the same dirt/soot on Supes' hair and face as in the nighttime scene with Supes and Lois in the apartment/boots on reveal photo.Just a thought here, but what if the scenes with the crowd angry at supes isn't supes at all, but the clone.

No, he agreed with a James Gunn response about the Batman. Listen I think he wants the Batman to be its own thing and Gunn agrees with him. But we all know in Hollywood it’s all about the money especially with WB suits.I mean he literally said he didn't want to do it so...
Fascinating. Based on this, I am thinking Boravia is located in central Asian, possibly intended to be a post-Soviet Republic, with its neighbour, Jarhanpur, seemingly being a South Asian country based on the ethnicity and dress of its people. It's an "ocular laser strike."
