The Dark Knight Rises The Dark Knight Sequel Info Hunters

It would be nice if Nolan would just come right out and say that Ra's is dead, there are no Lazarus pits, and he has no daughter in this film series. He squashed the Riddler rumors, he needs to squash this one too.

If the rumour is true it would be fine with me. I love the idea of Watts as Essen opposite Oldman's Gordon. Knightley would be ok as Talia. And I also prefer Hardy as Strange.

I'm sure Nolan could make it work somehow, but I'd just be disappointed if he moved backwards instead of forward.

We need a truly psychotic main villain in TDKR, and a morally grey side villain. The best candidates are still Hugo Strange and Catwoman.

If it's Catwoman the Nolan's have to do a wonderful job, otherwide they would ruin a terrific character and I think they would need Marion Cotillard to pull Catwoman's inner wildness. If she really really can't commit to the movie, then... from that list probably Weisz could pull it off.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there's actually no scheduling conflict as Marion isn't signed on to the other movie that's released in 2012, but I'm not sure that's true.

If anyone still needs to be convinced she can play Catwoman, just watch Inception.

^ That's kinda not the point he was getting at.

Expect the unexpected with Nolan is usually my way of looking at things. Think of the opposites of the your assumptions/wants, and you'll probably come up with the correct answer. :o:oldrazz::cwink:

Yep....that is one way of looking at it when it comes to Nolans films.

Has a non-British actor ever pulled off a believable British accent in the history of cinema? Brits seem to handle our yankee accent with ease, but I'm not sure I've ever seen it the other way around.
Robert Downey Jr in Sherlock Holmes is faultless.

Talia and Doctor Strange. Boring. Both are perfectly interesting characters to read, and I am a devotee of the al Ghul family (such fine table manners), but there is absolutely no "wow" factor there at all.

Talia with Bane = fine, Strange with Catwoman = fine, either with Black Mask = fine. Together, though, I just think they are too "plain clothes".

As of now I am opposed to the idea of using Talia as the villian. I honestly don't know much of her character besides what I read on here and on the web. But I don't see how Nolan can use her character without harking back to BB and Ra's. To me its just a little too Return of the Jedi-ish with another deathstar. To me it just comes across as a little lazy. I don't think Nolan would have come back for this movie if it was just a continuation of BB. But I'm curious if there are other stories of Talia out there that don't involve revenge for her dads death? If there is I'd be curious to find out how her character might be able to work.

This being Nolan's last Batman film, and the last film in this trilogy, I'd like to see new story arcs (and characters) explored. No Ra's or Talia, please.

We'll see. But you really have to consider Nolan's comments regarding tying things up, rather than blowing up the balloon.

^ I think Nolan is referring to returning to the status quo as opposed to making things even more complicated which is what TDK ended up doing.

I've been asking the same thing and every answer revolves around Ra's, they go hand in hand which makes me question why Nolan would use her when she's only fit for one type of storyline. Every other character mentioned so far in rumour is by far more flexible and able to be adapted to a varierty of different stories. But hey if Nolan feels there's something compelling in that one storyline then that's his choice. Personally I'd feel a bit let down if that were the case coz we'd already know how that story kinda plays out, it may be good but at the same time I don't want to be in my seat already knowing the big reveal, ruins the fun. I'd really like to be surprised the same way I was when Two-Face died.

I agree with this. I'm hoping for Hugo Strange and Catwoman, personally. Because then you get the balance of having Hugo Strange as the central villain and prime antagonist who is really driving the plot, while with Catwoman you have a character with enough pop culture history to build mainstream interest, and someone you can put on the poster to generate excitement.

Possibly. However, one would think they are going to try and make this 'unique' in a sense to try and better TDK in a way, or do something that hasn't been done previously. Which is what a sequel should always aspire to do and be, IMO.

That's where most sequels fail, copy and paste from the previous film. The 'unique' comment is indeed interesting, it makes me wonder if Nolan is going to do something that's non-linear in it's narrative, or perhaps even a story spanning several years of Batman after the events of TDK. I've always liked the idea of some sort of single event told through the eyes of 4-5 different characters, almost like 4-5 short films that are interconnected.

Talia is a very underestimated character...that´s why I like her ! :D
I found this:

I don't like that combo at all. Put Black Mask in place of Hugo Strange and things dramtically improve. All I'll say is that if Nolan is using Strange, he better work his bollocks off to make it work.

Reguarding Talia, they said there would be one love interest and one villain, they didn't say the female will be both.

Exactly. IMHO I don't see Nolan coming back to do this movie unless there's an interesting story to tell and not just a revenge story. There's plenty of interesting characters and ideas to go with TDKR. Talia and her revenge not being one of those interesting ideas.

Talia's standard story isn't really a revenge story. In the comics at least, she hasn't been too keen on her father in recent years, and has even tried to kill him a few times. The story that we seem to keep getting variations on for Talia is that she views Batman as the love of her life, and wants him to abandon his demeaning, thankless duties as defender of Gotham City to rule the League of Assassins by her side. But Bruce was already offered the chance to be a future leader of the League of Shadows in Batman Begins and turned it down, so I don't see why Nolan would want to retread that narrative.
