It's kinda Batman's destiny to be alone anyway if you ask me.

You don't see the difference? For starters Harvey wasn't leading a double life in a costume. Second, Harvey's methods of tackling crime were not half as risky or outrageous as Batman's.

She told him she was proud of him for that. That his father would be proud of him too.

It's a reason for not starting a relationship with him, I will give you that. It's just not a very good one. Especially following her dating someone in the same field.

Well, he doesn't dress up like a Bat. He's not taken the responsabilty of becoming a "symbol" in Gotham. A creature of the night. Something that goes beyond what a "normal" man usually does and is capable to take.

Really!? Gotham's WHITE KNIGHT?

A lawyer and a vigilante are not the same job description man.

Yeah, I hear ya. I can understand her point in Begins, when she says she can't "handle" that, but then she starts up a relationship with Harvey, who is also "fighting" crime, and also puts his life on the line, as well. I mean, he even had a friggin gun pulled on him right in front of Rachel, and she's still head over heels for him.

Yep. She even implied a quickie because it turned her on. Further proving she was lying to Bruce and giving him lip service. shes a liar.

Rachel sucks. :woot:

Rachel certainly didn't mind accepting Bats help when he provided her with all the photographic evidence against Falcone.

Come on, but Harvey was still Harvey. He stood for something aswell, yeah. But he didn't go out at night dressed like a Bat and break bones, etc. Honestly. It's a simple concept. Freak vs. D.A. Who'd you rather date?

Strangely enough, accepting help from someone and deciding to date him are two totally different thought processes.

And while I cannot speak for all women, as far as dealbreakers go, being a costumed vigilante is a pretty good one. If Bruce was going around starting charities or donating to the police department, or had gone about open, legitimate ways of saving Gotham, Rachel would have been cool with it. He didn't. Instead, he chose to dress up like a bat and beat people up.

She's allowed to admire him for that. She's also allowed to not be romantically attracted to that. She knows Bruce is obsessed with the Batman persona, that it's not just a tool for him, that it's a major part of his identity. She doesn't like that part of his identity, and when she realizes he will never stop being Batman, she walks away.

She's attracted to crusader types. She draws the line at vigilantes. It seems perfectly logical.

Can we talk about the next movie now?

fighting for the same cause then, if you wish to get technical.

See but one does it in a more sensible lawful, non-certifiable crazy way.

Bruce summed it up himself albeit jokingly "A man that dresses up as a bat clearly has issues"

Batman is breaking the law to fight crime, Harvey is working through the law to fight crime (not to mention actually getting the job done). That's pretty much all you need to know to understand Rachel's feelings.

harvey was breaking the law too, conspiracy to commit a kidnapping is pretty illegal.

Exactly. He is dedicated to his mission like a holy monk or whatever, that's what rankled me about the Burton and Shumacher movies to an extent, they always had him actively chasing a woman, whereas in the books he knew he could never have anything in his life like a serious relationship while he was Batman. As he said about Silver St Cloud(still the best depiction of a relationship with Bruce in any comic) he was just dating her on the casual and did not mean for it to get serious, so that happened by accident. A much better way of writing in a relationship for Batman that fits with the obsessed crime fighter characterisation than the usual Hollywood crap, which is just there to put bums in seats(lots of dates at movies) and put to rest any fears or gags morons might make about him being a big rubber gay man.

But when he retires he can shack up with Wonder owman, Catwoman, Zatanna..whoever the hell is interested in him and he fancies too, like any normal bozo, that is one thing i did no tbuy about the look into his retired future in TDKR. He's sitting at home *every* night just watching tv and sipping the wine when there would be umpteen interesting women interested in dating him? No chance, he would be bored out of his skull and sick of the sock(everyone has to go fairly regularly with that, even Batman), he would have shacked up with someone.

Not to mention trying to execute the guy in the alley.
Well, he was using his coin in his favor. He was just using some extreme intimidation to get info.....but either way, I don't think Rachel knew about Harvey's "duel lifestyles".:oldrazz:

I bet Rachel just picked the guy with the biggest penis.

Yeah, I'm the one with the dirty mind, reg. You make me look like a choirboy.

Oh, it's not that bad. He never has a shortage of teenage boys to keep him company, even when he's an old man. ;)
