The Flash Season 5 Review

'The Flash' Season Five preview: Todd Helbing interview | DC TV Watch

"One of the pitfalls that we ran into is that it's hard in 23 episodes to have one storyline play out so this year, while there is certainly a spine, we have two or three major stories that go on in different increments – like a first act, second act, third act," Helbing tells The Hollywood Reporter.

That’s good news. I hope it works out.

Glad they're changing it up. While the whole "big bad" thing with a focused serialized arc works great for shows that are 10-13 episodes a season, it gets stretched a little thin when it has to maintain 23 episodes. It's been that way ever since the Buffy days - but that show in it's heyday just did a better job with standalone "filler" episodes, so it wasn't so much a problem for them as it is with these shows. But this is a problem I feel all the 23-episode Arrowverse shows suffer from, so if it works out well this season for Flash, hopefully the others will consider following suit.

So after 2 seasons of The Iris, now it'll be The XS, why am I not surprised. :whatever:
I was going to ask what's your definition of The Iris show. However, I remembered that in a mind like yours, if Iris gets more than 5 minutes of screentime, she's taking over the show.

I had thought about watching this show again but when I was reminded about how Iris is still the leader of Team Flash and of the whole "we are the flash" crap, I remembered on why I gave up this show in the first place.

At least Arrow, Supergirl, and Black Lightning dont have to worry about putting up with that kind of stuff.

Can’t wait.:yay:

We're back tonight, everyone. Looking forward to it!

Unless Cicada ends up being a awesome villain, I am willing to bet money that this season will be received as well/bad as last season. From everything that I have heard, it seems like Barry might end up taking the backseat (yet again) so that they can make XS into a prominent figure. Well that and I am sure on whatever issues Nora has with Iris in the future will be at the forefront for this season.

wow... its worse than i imagined... and i imagined it being awful.

So this actually beat The Gifted last night in the ratings. Rare for a CW show to beat one of the major networks that's not having a re-run, and not a good look for The Gifted.

Never thought I would say this.. Bring back the old suit !

I've never been a fan of shoehorns but whatever floats your boat.

Yes, because a major character from The Flash comics, which this show is based on, is shoehorned into the show about The Flash.

You don't know what shoehorned is. Shoehorned is Team Flash being on the show period. Shoehorned is the multiple Wells we have to suffer through each season. Dude, this is the definition of shoehorned.

The show is literally called The Flash, yet only two major people are actually from the comics.

SA proves how much you need strong bone structure to pull off that suit. He looks 10x better then Grant in that cowl.

I totally forgot he's going to look pretty damn swole as Flash

I actually laughed at the pic. Just trying to imagine each actor acting as the other character (if that’s how it’s going to be).

My new theory about this crossover is that the Monitor is causing a Convergence-esque event, and our heroes are all gonna find themselves separated in different/merging worlds. So different characters will be dealing with different AU's.

I thought that was a fan mock-up initially - at least until I saw that both Grant & Stephen posted it on their respective IG's with the words 'not fan art' below the descriptions.

Have they made new costumes for them or are they simply squeezing into each other's costumes? They're not the same height or build. Seems expensive to make new costumes that they can't use again just for one episode.
