Overreact much? Iris and Kid Flash were a team in the Flashpoint timeline. Umm I think it makes sense for her to take a larger role. After all it's her brother as the Flash now and Cisco is hero in his own right. I don't expect him sitting behind a desk as much.

Fans during S3: "Iris needs to do more besides be a damsel in distress"

*Iris will take leadership role in S4*

Fans: "No don't do that!"

...lol.

My guess is people had in mind her investigative reporting/blogging that I barely recall seeing much of in s3.

I think it's regular viewers too along with shippers. I finally made plans to set my DVR for Arrow on the days I accidentally miss it. I'm actually looking forward to Season 6. Shame I'll have to avoid S4 of this show due to the writers' obsession with Iris and westallen. I thought they were done with that nonsense. They learned nothing from Arrow's mistakes.

exactly.if iris was treated as she should be just li while i don't like westallen at all it would be more tolerable.we rarely get friendship scenes between barry and caitlin anymore even before she turned killer frost.i wasn't big fan of hr version of wells but he deserved better than how his death was treated by westallen.

Hearing stuff like this is not helping the show. Nobody around me is going to watch if spoilers like this pop up. How awkward is SDCC going to be? They might as well sit Candice on a throne and push Grant in the audience even though it's still called The Flash. This is worse than Felicity and Friends. Felicity at least had skills and likability. What does Iris have to earn the title as "leader"? So much shoehorning my head can't take it. It's like Berlanti is begging us to hate the show even more.

I don't see a problem with her taking on more of a leadership role. Barry is gone and Kid Flash/Cisco will have to take up the leg work at defending the city which means that Iris will probably be the one to direct them to where they need to go. This isn't like she is pushing everyone out of the way to dominate the screen. And Iris has plenty of likability.

While I don't speak for others, I think the problem here is that it doesn't feel natural or earned for the character.

She has no real experience, other than watching the rest of Team Flash from previous missions, in coordinating the members when it comes to dealing with the city's problems.

She isn't a cop, she has no knowledge of anything science or tech related, and she has never really gotten herself involved in Team Flash's field of work other than uttering a few lines over their com's channel.

Someone like Felicity on "Arrow" I could understand because she's an expert with computers and coordinating the team at times throughout the last 5 years.

Iris, who went from being a simple barista to a paid journalist (despite never having gone to college for her degree and only getting exposure as a result of her connection to the Flash).....this whole thing about her becoming the new leader of Team Flash feels very forced like her previous gigs.

This is just yet another example of the writers not knowing on what to do with her character and trying to find some way to make her feel relevant.

Who else is there if Cisco and Wally are in the field and Joe is working? Caitlin is gone, Barry is gone, and there is no Wells. So who is available that is more experienced than her?

Barry was in the field and yet he was able to act as team leader as well.

And practically EVERYONE ELSE has more experience than Iris.

Iris shouldn't even be considered as a possible candidate for leadership over Team Flash.

Joe could lead the group while working as a cop. Hell, even Cisco could do double duties like Barry did.

Even Julian would be a better candidate for the role than Iris.

which means season 4 will be even worse than season 3.they are killing some fans intrest before season 4 even starts.

If season 4 is worse then season 3 then I am done with the show. Season 1 was great and I loved more then most season of smallville a show I loved to death back when it was on. Season 2 got worse then season 1 and season 3 got worse then season 3 so its kind of a theme going on hear and also season 3 villain sucked and it felt like there where has many filler episodes in season 3 has there where in season 1 and 2 combined.

Cisco should be the leader with Iris helping coordinate after being given some basic lessons about the computer's capabilities and its various programs. While cisco should have a tech addition to his glasses (they really should upgrade them into a cool looking visor) that lets him interface and hack things.

From what I read they said she'd be taking a leadership role? Not the LEADER, as in not the only voice that matters, but her voice is heard.

Just more shoehorning. She will just stand there, google things, cross her arms and say lines. Whatever happened to her job at Picture News?

They could have drawn this so many ways, but like Arrow's obsession with Felicity, Iris is hitting that territory of "make it go away." She should have died in the finale just like Felicity should have in Arrow's S3. It would have made a better story on both counts.

I don't hate on Iris as much as others do on here. I've said it many times but all the female characters on this show have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't have any problem with Iris' personality. She's a chill, calm character. It's just the writers not using the character to her full potential that's pissing me off lately. Just because Iris doesn't have have any science or tech background doesn't mean she can't have a role at all. Let her be her OWN character, but give her a great background story outside of just being a love interest or standing in Star Labs all the time. Like back in season 1 with her journalism stories or in season 2 with her relationship with Francine.

So according to Keiynan Lonsdale, he believes there's so much growing up for Kid Flash as a character? Now what does that tell you about the actors? They can't control the scripts the writers make for them. That's why I never complained about Wally West/Kid Flash. With time he'll become more likable IMO. Of course he won't become the Flash next season. That's why Flashpoint only lasted one episode instead of several. The show runners clearly said from the beginning that this show will always be about Barry Allen Flash.

The only thing that'll make me upset next season is if Caitlin comes back on the 1st episode of season 4 and everybody on team Flash is joyful that everybody is back together. I still want some drama going around the team even after Barry returns from the speed force, where team Flash isn't fully stable yet, reduced in size. I want something more interesting for Caitlin's character next season as an anti-hero. Maybe she gets arrested and thrown in A.R.G.U.S., or DeVoe mind controls her with the Rogues.

My biggest fear next season isn't abut any ships or side characters. My biggest fear about season 4 is how the main villain will be executed, first and foremost. Savitar was executed very poorly, it was so disappointing. The whole explanation of his bootstrap paradox, him getting shunned by team Flash (which made no sense), and no specific explanation for CALCIFIED SPEED FORCE ENERGY. We had no flashbacks on those things. We had good flashbacks with Reverse Flash and Zoom who were executed much better. I'm looking forward to DeVoe and the Rogues, and it be cool if we got a mixture of human DeVoe and artificial intelligence DeVoe next season, but I'm afraid this upcoming Flash season is a make or break scenario. The Arrowverse season 4 curse could very well continue with the Flash next season. Will a non-speedster villain finally bring this show back up top?

It's amazing how the tides have turned though. This time last season, everybody was hyped for Flash(point) season 3 and nobody cared about Arrow season 5 due to how hard the show fell off after season 4, and looked what happened. It's just like your favorite sports team after coming off a terrible season, you may not believe them, but they could come out of no where, surprise the whole world, and make a deep run in the playoffs. Maybe Flash season 4 surprises everybody and Arrow season 6 returns back to mediocrity. I just wish the Flash and Arrow can have great seasons at the same time.

the writers want flash to be iris and wally west show co-starring barry.they know they need grant to carry show so he will always be flash.iris is clear favorate of writers to point they will rewrite show history.untill in middle of second half of season 2 iris never gave barry a romantic look.now yes i know in tieline deleted in 1x15 she did briefly but that was quickly discarded.iris already spends too much time at starlabs giving orders.

i have little doudt ciatlin/killerfrost will be secondary character on show with less screentime.she will eather work for villain or rejoin teamflash and take orders from iris.

We must be watching 2 different shows.

I feel like I'm the only person who like Iris here. :hehe:

I don't dislike her. She just never does enough to be a meaningful character so that I would like her. Her only purpose seems to be as Barry's love interest and damsel in distress. With tones of a women in refrigerators.
How many times were we going to see Savitar kill her? I mean that is the whole trope of women in refrigerators. The woman dies to motivate the hero and move the plot along. If she were gone from the show I wouldn't
miss her. But I'm not going to demand she be removed from the show either. I guess basically Iris is a rather mediocre character. As love interests go, even Gypsy has more personality and chemistry with Cisco.

You're not alone, I think the complaints are way overblown, I'd prefer they tone down the relationship drama, but people acting like this is anywhere near as bad as Olicity and the effect that had on Arrow both directly and indirectly are kidding themselves. The producers are finally announcing that they have plans that could finally give Iris a decent role as more than the love interest and people complain and act like there's no way the character could grow into the role the producers talked about.

The majority of people don't like Iris on this site, but a lot of people enjoy her character in general as AcePair mentioned. I've been on so many other forums and it's about even or the complete opposite. I've looked through Flash threads on "lipstickalley" and those users absolutely love Iris but have a strong dislike for Caitlin.

but anyways, same here, I've felt so alone on here but I'm happy to finally see some users who're actually find with the Iris character.

Lord, look I like Iris too. Candice Patton is really hot. Aside from that they might needto give her something to do other than being saved every week. Have more of picture news and actually use her in the crossover.

I wouldn't care much about her if she wasn't ingrained into every scene. If she was written off of the show the stories would be so much better. Sorry I'm not slobbering over the actress for not drooling over her looks. She just doesn't do it for me on the looks front either. Candice Patton has one expression.
