The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 10

Sorry, you don't get to speak for everyone.
I'm not looking forward to it but if the movie turns out to be good then I hope even the most staunch haters (I'm including myself as I've found everything up until this point to be utter ****) will recognize that.

There's no question I will see it out of curiosity but not in theaters. They won't get one dirty brown penny out of me. And it amazes me how they did the re shoots and now we have a teaser trailer. Maybe it's just the conspiracy theorist in me but I think a lot of those rumors were true and they tweaked the film a lot. They only filmed in like, what, 5 weeks? Eh, just not feeling this movie and I will encourage others to do the same.

It's strange that they were allowed to use the fanfare. Maybe Marvel really had no say in this matter.

It's the old "Marvel" fanfare, not the "Marvel Studios" one. All of the non-MCU movies use it, because regardless of the studio it's still a Marvel property.

Agreed. I'm just surprised they were able to use one at all.

This trailer confirms how I felt about the movie helmed by Trank. Hopefully Marvel can get F4 back by making a deal with Fox about the X-Men TV show.

Disney shouldn't relinquish anything. Their goal should be to get everything back in house. Not make trades.

Use that mouse money.

It's kind of a double edged sword for Marvel. On the one hand they want to keep their name out there, on the other hand if this movie ends up being half as bad as the trailer shows, it could reflect negatively on Marvel Studios, for people who don't understand the difference.

If Marvel can use the X Men TV rights to bring back the FF, I'm all for it.

As much as I hate to say this but I agree. With Inhumans, they really don't need the Xmen. It just amazes me how Fox was willing to work with Sony by letting them borrow the Kingpin for Daredevil but wouldn't do the same with Marvel.

That would be ideal.

Just send Mickey in there, beat the hell out of everybody, take back what is Marvel's and then throw some cash at them for their trouble.

Yeah I think that's what Disney would like (and would be inclined) to do. But at the same time it's possible their funds of readily available cash are low at the moment because of what they recently spent on Star Wars.

Don't worry! After the movies they are releasing this year, they should be able to buy F4 and Xmen back if they wanted to. A:AoU and Star Wars will bring back $3 Billion to Disney WW alone.

The FF rights aren't for sale. This film will not suddenly change hands and be released by Disney in the MCU when it's in post production. Fox is not desperate enough for the X-Men TV rights that they're going to hand over the distribution rights to a summer movie that they already invested millions in. No sane company does that.

This is the reboot we're getting. Fox isn't going to repeat Sony's mistakes and reboot a reboot. Fans were divided on Man of Steel and it didn't earn as much as Warner would have liked but they still pressed on with Batman v. Superman since again, they don't want to reboot a reboot.

And Marvel isn't going to cram the Fantastic Four into Phase 3 if this film does Ghost Rider 2 numbers. If anything it would be put in limbo like Blade and Punisher and unfortunately is too expensive for a TV series.

Either Fox will do the sequel regardless of reception or if the film flops hard, they'll hold on to the rights for another 8 years or they'll sell the FF back to Marvel after a really nasty flop that will cause Marvel to not reboot the FF and keep the comic canceled due to lack of interest.

Do you realize how much money Disney makes just on their theme parks alone?

2.2 billion a year

Just on theme parks.

Disney isn't strapped for cash :oldrazz:

Yeah I think the thing with Fox is the asking price for F4 was to high. Again, notice how as soon as it was announced that Disney bought Marvel, Fox announced a F4 reboot either the same day or the next day.
I will say though that Disney should just pay Fox whatever and get the rights back. They will EASILY make the money back. As far as Sony and Spiderman, all they have to do is just wait them out. Sony is run by dolts who don't have a clue and it's only a matter of time before they go bankrupt.

Wait I thought Fox owned the X-Men TV rights?

It's weird. They have the live action rights for the series, but they need Marvel's permission to do anythings thats not a film. (I.E. a TV show)

Nope. FOX is negotiating with Marvel for the rights. And for those who think FOX is getting them without MAJOR concessions, think about how the Sony-Marvel deal went down.

I wonder what Feige's reaction was when he watched this trailer this morning. Probably just shook his head, closed his laptop and walked away.

I think an Xmen tv show would do wonders for FOX in helping to expand its Xverse. There is literally so much they can do with the property and possible spinoffs. Im sure they really want to do it but what are they willing to give up to get it.

Marvel has all the leverage so they probably can and should demand quite a bit.

Now obviously I don't know what Marvel wants, but if it was me running the show there, I would at a minimum want the rights back for Silver Surfer and Galactus. If Fox is unwilling to go that far, then tough luck. Enjoy having no X-Men TV show.

Why would Marvel do Fox any favors? They wouldn't even let Marvel use Galactus or Silver Surfer..........characters they have no plans of using at all.

Really? You know that for sure?

Is the reverse true? Could Marvel do a live tv-version of the X-Men? That would be hilarious if they could and did. "Hey, FOX, you can't have your X-Men tv show but thanks for the idea!"
