Why is Emma Watson commenting on Trank anyway? Doesn't she have any new movies to star in after Harry Potter?

LOL. Thanks, fixed that, that would have been a real career comedown--shilling for a sure flop.

This just seems to show a complete lack of confidence in Trank. Early in the process, people were concerned that this would be a found-footage film, but I didn't buy it.

"He may have used that shtick in Chronicle, but he's a talented young director. He can certainly do other types of films. He's not a one-trick pony," I said in one form or another.

It seems Fox thinks he's a one-trick pony.

When he was hired, the first thought I had was Fox was going for the found footage gimmick because they were clueless as to how to actually handle this property. I wanted to be proven wrong but I guess not.

Kidding aside, what I find interesting is that Emma Watts is the only one to have indicated that Trank has any real enthusiasm for taking the director's chair on this film. A "franchise he's loved his whole life"? Really?? I think she's got things mixed up with Star Wars - which Trank quite publicly gushed about - while he's said virtually zilch about the Fantastic Four - sequestered away in a warehouse somewhere in Baton Rouge denied access to social media.

The Line made me laugh so hard the first time i saw it. Hypocrisy at its best

Anyone up for a protest picket?I can see a bunch of us parading in front of the cinema wearing an FF t shirt and a paper bag over our heads.:hehe:

I'm not hating on Trank being picked as the director of this flick BUT for sure he'll get the reinvention of himself and he'll avenge (No pun intended) his ideas via THE FORCE!

Fox is not 100% confident in his abilities as a director BUT sure as hell Lucasfilm / Disney are.

Yeah, doesn't say much about their faith in his abilities. On only his second film and Fox are already stereotyping him as a found footage director.

Well fox is letting him do whatever he wants here. Disney will say no to a bad idea & will replace him MARVEL style if he gets out of line with bad ideas

I know to a lot of us this doesn't seem like our Fantastic Four. But you never know. This movie might surprise us.

My expectations have dropped so low at this point that I'm not expecting anything that even vaguely resembles FF, so yeah, anything that is even a little closer to the low bar I've set in my mind could be a pleasant surprise.

. . . but there's a reason my expectations have dropped so low. I've heard a lot of things I don't like up to this point.

Ths movie might surprise us ? But the movie have already surprised us a lot. Noone here would have thought that Fox would be stupid enough to make a found footage movie.

From the "Fantastic" casting to the false but true synopis and now the revelation of a found footage movie. Each time, it's a new surprise.

In fact, every new step is a surprise, but never a good one, and that's the problem. All of us are fearing the next surprise. What new crap will they add ?

Ok, I've noticed some talk in the past few pages of people not wanting goat legs on Dr. Doom. Personally, I want him to have goat legs. Think about it. The majority of FF fans seem to be expecting this film to be a piece of trash(and it sounds like it from what we know so far)so why not put something silly like that in this film. Just for s**** and giggles and to see that in live action. :woot:

I'm dead serious by the way, not joking or trolling. It would be similar to Ang Lee editing the Hulk in a way that made it look like it was coming off of comic panels. I kind of liked that but a lot of people thought it was absolute ****. Regardless if people hated it, I think it was great someone tried it, just to see if it worked or not.

I don't understand FOX thinking at all. I think a better fit for the X-universe would be Alpha Flight.

That would be the wrong way to go (just give people reason to see it). Just be very very quiet and tell people y know not to go. :nono: :ninja:  :nrv: :sus:storm

wow the news from today is reaaaally disappointing. this would be in such better hands at Marvel... god.... it'd be so awesome to see the F4, Doom, Silver Surfer and Galactus in the MCU :/

With Marvel exploring the Cosmic side of things, Galactus and SS are begging ot be added...

But as a universal threat to all heroes, and Thanos needs to have someone who can challenge him for supremacy, there can only be DOOM!!! A proper MCU Doom would wipe the memory of EVERY villain thus far....

Doom standing atop the castle turrets in Latveria...a Doom demanding immediate surrender from the delegates of the United Nations...crushing the heroes attempts at stopping him...intellectual dialogue from Stark/Banner/Richards...Thanos with the Gauntlet and Doom manages to catch him offguard and steals it for himself, creating a Universe Under Doom!

They don't seem to have it. Recent evidence points to Marvel Studios having Alpha Flight. They may even be using it at some point, as AoS already threw in a Department H reference.

I'm sure Marvel would trade it in a heartbeat. They seem to be forcing F4 out right now and it makes no sense. I don't think there's been anything positive to be said(except for the one thread here)anywhere on the net and Fox knows it. It's why we are hearing so little about this movies progress and it's why Trank shut down his Twitter account because he's getting crushed. I do believe that Disney giving Trank Star Wars is move on in a game of Chess with Fox. Disney is not done and I'm sure they hear the backlash that Fox is hearing online and getting Trank was only the first move. I still say some kind of way this thing ends back up at Disney by August or September. There's no way this thing is shooting now and the cast hasn't even seen the script. I may sound crazy with all the trashy news that has come out lately about this garbage but I am still holding out hope. :csad:

See, that's why Dr. Doom would be such an asset to the MCU. Most antagonists stick to their own hero and only occasionally interact with others; but Doom, he's a Fantastic Four villain, and a Dr. Strange villain, and an Iron Man villain, and an Avengers villain, sometimes a hero, and often an universal threat... he's such a versatile character, and seeing him interact with the rest of the universe, that would be the greatest benefit of having the FF rights back.

Because they can't keep the rights if it is called Chronicle II. The only reason this project has ever existed is because they lose the rights if they don't do it. So like I said many months ago, this movie is Roger Corman's Fantastic Four (or Dragonball Evolution) all over again. Just a cheap piece of crap that will allow them to keep the rights. Fox doesn't care if it is good or even really make a profit. They just want to keep the rights and spend as little money as possible doing it.

Although Fox won't admit it, I'm sure that the rights reversion of DD back to Marvel probably ate them from within, because even though they didn't really want to make a new DD movie and waited until the last minute to start prepping for the reboot, Fox does not want Marvel to get their rights back. So I think this is why they are so adamant about keeping FF even though they also don't have much interesting in rebooting it and had also waited until the last minute to start shooting the movie. I think Fox right now sees the superhero movie genre as an arm's race, and they want to keep as many superhero movie rights as possible, not just to make a profit but also to keep them away from Marvel. It doesn't help the fact that there's now a frosty relationship between Fox and Disney/Marvel, which is why Marvel doesn't release X-Men movie merchandises and did not promote DOFP at all.

Exactly. I often wondered what villain they can do as an encore after Thanos for Avengers sequel, and I think the clear choice would've been Dr. Doom, if Marvel can get the FF rights back. Only he is powerful and cunning enough to force the Avengers and the rest of MCU to unite against his tyranny. Too bad we can only dream at this point.

Now they are going with a "found footage" model just like Chronicle? :doh:This makes me want to see it even less. I guess they want me to "find footage" of the entire movie online rather than supporting this in the theaters or by Blu Ray/DVD. I only do this with movies I am almost positive I won't like, so I one, don't support the movie, and two, have legitimate facts and arguments as to why the movie was bad. If I do somehow enjoy the movie I will go support it in the theaters, but as of right now I highly doubt that scenario is likely.

For all you haters of Marvel Animation, check this out, the CLASSIC Fantastic Four lineup appearing on Hulk and the Agents of SMASH:
