They make billions off of merchandising. I have a daughter....been taking her to the DISNEY store at the mall for years for all her princess stuff....it's funny how now half the store is MARVEL stuff.

Yes!!! Though my son loves Doc McStuffins and TinkerBell and maybe has a crush on Ariel, he flies toward the Marvel and Star Wars stuff at Disney Stores like a geeky moth to a very nerdy light LOL!!

If, IF, somehow this movie manages to capture the spirit of the way the Ultimate FF series first started (when Inkind of rather liked it) and took a Big Hero 6 approach to the characters and story, it could be okay...

I just... Why Blogger Von Doom?!?! :wall:

Fantastic Four fans:

Rejoice! For what is happening right now with your beloved heroes is the same thing Batman had to endure in the late 90s. This movie will likely run the franchise into the ground and before long, Marvel with have the rights and you'll get what you want!

Unfortunately you'll have to endure the final Fantastic Four movie from Fox and several years, but still, this is the best thing to happen while in the hands of Fox. I say, LET IT BE AS BAD AS IT SOUNDS.

Man I laughed my ass off when I read the news about Doom. It's just like the cast and crew are determined for me to not see this film. I wasn't planning on seeing it anyway but I left some room to be swayed by a trailer and some images but for me this is the final straw. Doubt I would even download this now lol

Well, this movie just crossed the threshold of ridiculousness, it's so bad that I went from doubt/not interested to "I have to see this train wreck"

This is history in the making, everyone is gonna remember where they were when they first watched the trailer, and then the movie, old people is gonna tell kids "you can't complain, in my times, the FF were like this"

Fox and MBJ will be rejoicing as their latest strategy is working:

Forget about the other billion people in the world! As long as Casius J doesn't see it, You've made Fox and the cast happy. They personally made this movie to your specific designs to make sure you don't see it.

How does that saying go? There's no such thing as bad publicity.

This is all just hilarious. I mean, terrible, since great characters are being ruined, but it's hilarious just how badly Fox and Trank are screwing this up.

You would have thought that Fox would have learned their lesson from the previous Fantastic Four movies, with Doom being made into a business man, and Galactus into a galactic cloud. They obviously do not understand these characters one bit. Two of the most bad @$$ villians in the Marvel Universe and they have no clue how to get them right.

Fantastic Four was always my favorite comic growing up, but I have absolutely no interest in seeing this film. I laugh when some people say that Marvel is trying to damage the movie by canceling the Fantastic Four comic book series. People Marvel doesn't need to do crap, Fox is killing the Movie just fine all on their own.

As some of the other users pointed out though, perhaps it's failing hard though will be the best thing as this property really should be with Marvel. So, here's hoping.

oh they're totally making money. But after buying marvel, and producing some expensive movies, they really did just begin to turn a profit.

The Corman version was awful despite being more faithful. You can still have a good movie despite changing aspects from the comics, if the script is great and the acting and execution are also solid.

This whole "Doom the blogger" sounds terrible, but maybe there's more to it. Lets not forget Simon Kinberg wrote the script, he's a fan, he knows he will lose the credibility he gained with DOFP if this movie is crap, same for future SW spin-off director Josh Trank. So who knows, the movie could still be decent despite these changes, Marvel also changed a lot of things for Ant-Man, it doesn't mean is going to suck, we have to wait and see.

Not sure if you are serious..................

I honestly think that the people who are expecting this movie to be an utter mess and/or a laugh-fest are gonna be quite disappointed.
Chances are the movie's actually gonna be an average, maybe even decent superhero flick which is named, for some unexplainable reason, after the F4.

And that's unfortunate, because Doomblogger is potential comedy gold. What a waste. :o

Exactly. From what I remember, Disney paid 4 billion for Marvel. I'm sure that between movies and all the other merchandise that they made up for it by now.

you'd be surprised how many movies nearly break even after marketing even when box office juggernauts.

Let's also not forget, phase 1 was mostly paramount.

Well I don't like it when Marvel strays either, but there are some differences in my opinion.

1. Dr. Doom is the Lex Luther of Marvel Comics. In other words he is probably the greatest villain they have ever created. As such he is iconic and deserves a more accurate translation on the big screen.

2. It is more about getting the core of the character right then a few details being changed. Doom is a genius ruler and dictator, who believes all others are beneath him, plain and simple. The movie description given of Doom doesn't even sound remotely similar to his comic book counterpart.

I mean seriously it sounds so bad, Killian's Mandarin is rolling over in his grave laughing at this description of Doom saying and you thought my comic book translation was bad. and I hated that translation of Mandarin before they fixed it, so there you go.....

I won't be surprised, I have been following that as much as a layman can, but the way Marvel Studios controls their budget? They do more then break even I would wager.

Also, again with merchandising I'll stand by what I said.

I just wouldn't say disney is currently "making billions" off them is all. I think they've finally begun to turn profit, especially with Winter Soldier and Guardians, and the merchandising now in full effect and the parks beginning to usher in Marvel.

I'm never said that they are nessesarrliy currently making billions either, I'm just saying point blank that after paying 4 billion for Marvel and after all of the movies, blurays/dvd, comics, other merchandise and rights not to mention, all the merchandise rights from all of Sony's Spider-man stuff that they have made that up easily by now.

I agree, but we don't know all the details, maybe he's still a genius, someone created the armor, either he did, someone else did it for him or he stole it, whatever. If Latveria doesn't exist or they don't use a reasonable substitute, then it would be a major faux pas. There are many things we don't know yet.

No...a fake is a fake, a substitution is a substitution....neither are the real deal.

I can't believe how off this CBM has gotten.

There may be some who genuinely want to see this movie, but I fear the overall general audience will be a cross between disappointed and not caring.

In my opinion, I think this movie will sully Fox's decent CBM streak (XM-FC, TW, XM-DoFP) and will prove that Rothman was not the sole problem.

Yeah and the last thing Disney wants to do is give it all that to FOX of all people.

This is the type of thing that compels me to boycott all of Fox's films. Sure Apes 2 was good but I can do without the blu-ray in my collection.

This to me is the only thing that will stop Fox from being greedy !#$!#$

Sounds like Fox knew they were dead wrong about the direction of this..."character" which is why they changed the name.

Take this with a pound of salt as you would any message board whispering a, but someone over on the Bleeding Cool boards swears that he was involved with the production and knows some details about the movie. He says that in the film the Fantastic Four aren't scientists, but instead they win a reality TV show to go into space, and when they return home they have a documentary crew following them around 24/7. Normally I'd just dismiss this as utter nonsense, but based on everything else we've heard about the film this now sounds eerily credible.
