He looks like what's floats in my toilet.

You need this:

So does Fox.

Guys, I e-mailed the studio. They say that they did work on the Fantastic Four but this render was for another project.

There's your proof.

Odds are, we aren't getting a green Thing with a tiny waist and glowing eyes.

There we go. Shows how generic that rock design from the bust is that it looks so similar to one used on a render for something else entirely.

That fits what Hulk24 said:

Was just told by Aaron himself the concept is the unused thing concept from an earlier draft of the film. The final design is based off of it though

The studio response doesn't say it wasn't an early version of the Thing. It just says: "It's probably very different now."

But we already something about the look of the Thing from the leaked image, and the concept art is clearly different but has some similarities (and we can see that for ourselves regardless of what anyone says).

My concern is the leaked image just gives us a glimpse. We don't know what the body looks like, if he has 3 huge, blocky fingers etc. I also had assumed the greenish look of the leaked image was a trick of the light.

But if we compare this supposedly obsolete concept art with the leaked image, we do see shared characteristics.

To get an idea of what the Thing will actually look like, we need to fill in the details we can't see on the leaked image. If we fill those details with Kirby's Thing . . . or we fill those details with this concept art, we get very different results.

That leads me to be concerned that when we see the whole thing, there's a good chance the textures, coloration, hands, feet etc. could likely give us a Thing that doesn't really resemble the Thing.

As much as I hate Fox, hate this upcoming film and everything about it, and want to believe that this concept represents what the Thing will look like in this travesty of a movie...I've seen too many concept art books for films to know that they throw EVERYTHING against a wall to see what will stick.

I'm in no way convinced that this is THE piece of concept art that they've chosen to base the final design of the character off of.

There's a funny article about this film on Cracked right now. There's some bad language in it, so I won't link it. It basically makes a case for the Corman movie being the best Fantastic Four film using what we know about next year's film as a comparison.

What if we get John Byrne's Thing, Mike Wieringo's Thing, Bryan Hitch's Thing or Steve Epting's Thing? Jack Kirby isn't the only one to have drawn Thing.

We're probably getting Josh Trank's Thing. I'm pretty sure John Carpenter's Thing would be more loyal to Ben Grimm. :o

All of those match the general characteristics of Kirby's Thing. The concept drawing doesn't.

Will the Thing be orange and have three fingers as he has with every Marvel artist who has ever drawn him? I had assumed he would, but I'm not so sure anymore.

When we saw the leaked image, it appeared to have a greenish hue, but I dismissed that because I was assuming it really looked more like the Thing as he has always been drawn. This new image hints that we could be getting a green Thing.

Okay, but you're still having a reaction to a debunked concept art image rather than the bust that was leaked as the target render.

I've seen others in this forum link to Cracked articles, so I'm assuming it's okay:

**Link deleted...not only were there several uncensored curse words which are not allowed on the Hype, but there was a picture of Dr. Doom that we are not allowed at this point to post**

It just occurred to me that Ben's naked, and, um...

well, I guess Alicia Masters will be a bit unfulfilled in this continuity.

They turned him into a green poo monster. I'm glad he's not going to rock out with his **** out.

Haha that was a great read

I actually saw this in person today quite unexpectedly. It was only a very brief look though, as I walked in and then walked back out.

Exactly.

But yeah. They could buy Sony. Even if just the Sony Pictures/Columbia part of it..

They just don't want to, and (as stated before) don't need to. Sony will now be coming to them, and not the other way around. That is, if they haven't already.

Disney can't buy Sony, Japanese law prohibits foreign companies from acquiring local companies.

Since when can't they? I don't think Disney has any intention to buy Sony buy I don't think Japanese law prevents it either.

Many countries have the same law, a few months ago there was speculation about Microsoft buying Capcom, news sites were quick to point out that was not legally possible.

Its also moot, because Disney wouldn't be buying Sony. Disney would be buying Columbia Pictures, as Sony's movie division was a western company they bought up in the first place.

That can't be true. I know Walmart bought out at least one Japanese company, and Ford owned Mazda for a while as well.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT, NOR HAVE I EVER BEEN, AN EXPERT ON JAPANESE CORPORATE LAW

As far as I know, foreign companies are legally allowed to acquire Japanese companies through a few different ways. What they apparently can't do, based on some quick Googling, is merge with a Japanese company. There's a difference between purchasing and merging.

But yeah, Disney is unlikely to buy Sony. They will, however, be getting Spidey back in our lifetime.

In a word, Doom. Can you comment if he'll be even close to traditional Doom?

He's an egomaniac. Gets powers. Wears a mask and cape and becomes the F4's nemesis by the end of the film.

So Doom being a blogger isn't true?

The blogging stuff is getting blown way out of proportion. Does he have a blogging handle? Yes. Is he a professional blogger and is the story in any way related to that? No.

It's still ****ing stupid and should never be apart of his character in any way at all.
