But those are okay since Fox can't copy those arcs or make those crossovers come to life in their movies w/o infringing on something.
Putting the X-men cast in new books and calling it "Uncanny Avengers" is a great strategy. This way Marvel can add new characters and cool story lines that include the X-men while keeping the rights to them under Marvel. What you're not going to see much of in the future are huge solo X-men arcs that introduce new characters with great potential under the X-men name.
Oh I agree. And I expect to see that more.
With new mutants thing is that AvsX and Uncanny X-Mens plot revolved around new mutants being discovered and recruited. So Bendis created quite alot of characters in the past year or two and a few like Eva Bell are in focus. No doubt that could be cut off in the future. But right now Uncanny X-Men features alot of new Mutants.
Look at your post. Notice something in common with all of those books? They're breaking up the X-Men and putting them with Spidey, Avengers, Guardians, etc? Not the other way around. Marvel's world is movies and merchandising, the comics are just part of that funnel now. No place for the foX-Men in that picture.
That's not the case though. I was talking about how they are relevant in the Marvel comic universe as a whole with those examples. I also said in my post that the X-Men have over a dozen books on top of it. Meaning even with the Avengers and GOTG crossovers aside they still have over 12 solo books. Which do feature SHIELD, Avengers, GOTG and Spidey appearances at times but ultimately are strictly X-Men focused. This year the X books were...
Uncanny X-Men, X-Force, X-Factor, Amazing X-Men, All New X-Men, X-Men, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcralwer, Magneto, Wolverine, Savage Wolverine as well as Wolverine And The X-Men. That's 13 X-Men
only books not including the multiple Deadpool books, Uncanny Avegners or other mash ups. They also had Battle Of The Atom, which was a confined X event.
The problem is they actually have too many X books right now. The most in quite some time. They need to bring down that number, and they will with the ones who are now selling low. I don't expect them to release many more solo books like Storm or Nightcrwler due to again low sells, but Marvel comics are still pushing X-Men heavily cause when you add it all up they make ****loads of sales for them, and are in demand with fans.
They are still in the business of selling comics, and losing millions of sales every year is not gonna spite Fox much in any way. Maybe by not giving them more material, but with X-Men there are hundreds of already present storylines and characters they can still come up with their own as long as they have the rights. Ultimately it hurts Marvel comics, their comic readers and comic retailers much more. Why would they want to give DC comics the upperhand? The point is too sell. If they want to hurt Fox with X-Men then they will not allow new characters to be created and will not support their films with movie merch or other forms of tie ins. So you can cut down the titles, change origins and stop new characters but the X-Men are definitely not replaceable in any way right now for Marvel comics, and this should be obvious by the number of titles and total sales collected. Marvel has been pumping out more X-Men books not less for a reason, it makes them money and people read them.
With F4 it's a completely different issue. First because they actually have a chance at getting the film rights back, X-Men is locked in at Fox so they are in different positions. And second because they don't currently make much of anything on the F4 comics. As it's only one book that can barely stay (if that) in the top 100. Even then it's not so much about the F4 book being canceled, Marvel comics are lucky to make it to issue 50. It's more about how long Marvel will hold off of it getting relaunched. Heck, if F4 gets relaunched within a year or two then all of this worked in Marvels favor for people actually hyping up their cancelation as being forever. Which in comics, nothing is.
