The Multiversers: Hypertime

" We have to have a plan of some sort. Batman said Kansas isn't there anymore. What did he mean? is it inhabitable? If so then where would Clark land?"

"Lady. Gentleman. Let's go SEXIN'!!!!!"

Kara raised her eyebrow.

"As the only female on this team.."

"So, how exactly are we getting to Kansas without drawing atention to ourselves?"

"Well, Batman didn't exactly speak in specifics. However if Kansas is 'gone' that must mean its un inhabited or uninhabitable. Either way, we have to go there and look."

She paused.

"That shouldn't be too hard, we have two speedsters and me. We can get there in a flash." She smiled to herself at the pun before realizing none of her teammates caught on.

"You need a ride? But then again, there's not much to see in Kansas..."

Kara glanced up as the two speedsters came into the room.
"Make that three.." She glared at them, neither one knowing the full potential of her powers. It was insulting to think that they would need to give her a lift.
She bit her lip.
"Settle down Kara. You aren't Diana."

"Wait.. Kansas. Huh. Kansas really hold up against that invasion thing? Also, did I leave at a bad time?"

That was it.
"No, we were just about to have tea an crimpets when this universes sorry excuse for a Batman 'threw us out.'" She let out a bitter laugh at the irony of a human throwing out Superwoman.
She stepped forward, her face stern.
"If you ever leave this team again, I will personally see to it that you have two broken legs." She raced to the back of the two speedsters and flicked their heads and came back to standing in front of Don before either of them blinked an eye.

"I might not be the leader, but you will not put the rest of the team in jepordy again." she started at him.

"Do you have damper on?"

"I gave him one a long time ago. Around two seconds."

Wally looked at everyone.

"Why Kansas? There's nothing to see in Kansas. It's barren."

"Well, from what I gather, one of the most powerful metahumans on the planet is about to arrive in Kansas, and we have to make sure he doesn't get picked up by the Martians. And super lady, since when were you not the leader?"

"Do you have damper on?"

"Fine. Whatever. Because, if you remember, I can manipulate fire, and thus am crucial to this mission. Note sarcasm. Oh, and that broken legs thing... keep dreamin'. I'm willing to follow you to the ends of the Earth. But don't talk like you're better than me. I guess you want me to tell you why I left..."

Don wasn't always this bold. But he did not like being bossed around. He was wrong to talk to her like that, but still... There's no point in making threats.

"I don't care why you left; it was obviously for personal reasons. But I do care that by leaving you split the team up. If you're caught by the Martians you would compromise this whole mission. They would know we're here and they will find out why. You might laugh at being caught, but this isn't the old west."

Kara turned away, she felt like she was with a bunch of Teen Titan recruits.
She looked sideways at Savitar, okay maybe not all of them made her feel that way.

She sighed and put a hand to her stomach. Nausea was creeping over her and she didn’t have time for it.

“Don’t have time for your own child? Already Kara?” She chided herself, her conscience always had Barts voice. She wondered what Bart was doing.
“Probably circling the world a dozen times over to find me. He might have even talked Kyle into taking him on a space trip. What are Clark and Conner doing?” Conner had probably come out of his ‘retirement’ as he called it, after she’d been found missing.

"If they even know I'm gone."

She thanked Gaia that the frequency of her visions had tapered off. In fact she’d hardly thought of them at all. Save for the one that had happened with Batman. Was it something about this Universe?

"Oh, come off it. Yer actin' like I don't have any sense. The mission is everything. And if they do capture me: suicide is painless, I hear. You.... you remind me of my (actual) father, Kara. I respect you. I... I have more to say, but it can wait. I'm sorry."

Kara turned back around and sighed.

"For what it's worth I'm sorry as well. This is just a bit personel. In my universe and possibly in this one as well this...child..is my cousin. As for suicide, I will not accept that as an option at all. You will not be captured. I refuse to have a death on Kal's hands before he's even an adult." She looked around the room.
"He is more powerful than almost all of you combined and if the Martians capture him...." She trailed off, thinking.

"We have to get moving and form a plan."

OOC: Umm...what now..?

"Well then", Savitar chimed in, "I suggest we start moving towards Smallville, Kansas, and start moving quickly."

"After all", continued Savitar as he looked at Superwoman, "we do not want your 'cousin' to fall into Martian hands."

"Alright. Oh, and if we pass a grocery store on the way by, I'll need to stop and pick up a few supplies."

Kara nodded, scooped the clown up and flew into the air.

"Don you might want to change."

"Everyone, be careful who you talk too. Martians are shape shifters, so we'll stay away from any human contact just in case. If there are any undercover Martians they will be able to pick us out because of the dampers."

She paused and looked at them.

"Let's go." She lifted into the air. Flying towards the hole she used her X-ray vision to make sure there weren't any suprises waiting.
She exploded into the dim drab sunlight, scanning the horizon with her telescopic vision.

"We should have clear sailing"

"Master, our troops have been decimated." the young human female stated, her voice robotic and monotone.

General J'onn J'onnz looked at his human messenger in disdain.

She was once one of Bruce Wayne's human resistance fighters. A truly competant opponent, able in physical combat as well as having the ability to emit a sonic assault on her enemies. Yet it was still childs play to dominate her once Wayne's infernal psychic blockers were removed.

He was not happy with her news, though it was not news to him. He had been in telepathic contact with the commander of that battalion. He knew of the new foes he was presented with, and saw the destructive potential the yellow haired female had. She was nearly Martian in her abilities, though J'onnz could sense no telepathy in her. She was something new. They all were, these new soldiers in an ageless war.

J'onn J'onnz pondered this turn of events. Something must be done.

"Slave," he addressed the human female, "tear out your hair."

And she did.

Kara flew low to the ground. They couldn't sense them telepathically and their scanners might not pick them up this low.

"I can't believe I'm doing this. This makes no sense"

She surveyed the land in front of her. Picking out rivers and streams as landmarks. Landmarks that hardly resembled the ones she knew so well. She flew on, keeping her speed down for the sake of her passenger.

Within 20 minutes she landed.

"Here we are."

Our hero lets go of Superwoman and looks around at his bleak surropundings.

"Well. This place certainly looks like ass."

He turns back to his brightly colored compatriots.

"I'm a-guessin' we should go a-lookin' for a city or something."

"That would be the wisest course of action, but we should be discreet about it", said Savitar as he looked around the barren land that was once Kansas.

"We do not want to draw unneeded attention to ourselves afterall."

Kara sat down and looked around. Her mind reeling with thought.

"Darn it!" She punched the ground, causing a small doll-sized crater next to her.

"I don't even know what we are looking for, or what signs we are supposed to have."

"Well, under normal circumstances, I would suggest that you fly into orbit and use your Kryptonian vision to see if you can see your...cousin's space craft. But, that would also likely compromise our position and we'd then soon be swimming in Martians."

"Hmmmm."

A large, toothy grin slowly grows on The Jester's face. He turns to the High-speed Hindu Hero.

"Don't worry, m'boy. I can take care of the Martians for ya'. And let me assure you. It'll be a BLAST."

Our hero turns away from his allies and scans the horizon.

"But first, we need to get ourselves into some civilization. Let's go find us some city."

"For some reason, I do not find myself put at ease by your words", replied Savitar as he raised an eyebrow and gave the Jester a quizzical look.

Savitar held up his finger to signify "one second", and disappeared. Reappearing a second later, the Lord of Motion pointed and said, "There is a ruined town called Smallville a few miles in that direction. I did not see any signs of life, but, if there are people there, they might be underground just as the Batman and his resistance were."

Kara rose.

"I know. I'd rather not come in contact with humans. The Martians could be desguised as them." She paused thinking weighing her options.

"Let's go." she said before turning to the clown.
"Would you like to walk?"

Our hero jumps up and hugs Superwoman around the neck.

"Oh no. I'm quite comfortable like this."

"I'm more than willing to bet that wasn't a question. Off. Now. Before I lose my patience."

Don was more than a little on edge today; He was venting, as people do. But, maybe he wasn't. Maybe it was something else entirely. Time would tell. He did know how to make people do things; you have to threaten them, and you have to live up to your word.

Wally looked over at his son. It was himself, Don, the flying woman, the clown, and the speedster.

"Calm yourself, Don. We have work to do."

Wally turns to the rest of the people.

"Now what do you need to do again?"

"We need to find the baby before the Martians do."

Kara stared into the sky, her eyes penatrating the distance.

"And we don't know when that will be.."

"Supes. Darling. Didn't you hear? I've got a plan. Now, you can't go into space and get the ship early, because The Martians might notice. And we can't wait 'till it lands, because they might get there before us or get thwere when we do and over power us. Soooooooo, we're going to have to go into town and pick up some supplies. And if we're lucky, we'll find a little help too."

Kara nodded.

"Yes, I'm sorry." She placed her hand on her stomach and then moved it to her forehead.

So many things to think about...

"Well then", said Savitar to the others, "shall we take our leave to Smallville?"
