Ah, so he was just an understudy? Bummer.

Calling him an understudy is a bit of a misrepresentation. Batman had a contingency plan in place where, should the current League ever disappear for a long time, for whatever reason (Atlantean magic, in this case), a new League should be created. Members of the current League hand-picked the various members of the new League, and Nightwing was pretty much the only guy they considered for the leadership position.

So clearly the other heroes think highly of him. He's just usually too busy with other stuff to join the Justice League long-term. Remember, this was back in the days when he was running the Outsiders, was still a de facto member of the Titans, was trying to be a cop in Bludhaven, etc.

That story alone has some great Bruce/Richard moments. The whole "he called me his son?" and the hug moment are great, I think.

Should there be a comic called New 52 (or maybe just DC or DCU)? It could be a revolving cast that sort of goes around the New 52 DCU, ands even back in time, and maybe fills in the gaps or adds some consistency to the New 52 comics? Like maybe show Stuff going on between the scenes and behind the scenes and ramifications from one comic in the rest of the comics' worlds. Like how the events in Justice League have effected or are effecting Green Lantern?
Its just that I have heard complaining from some that the DCU now feels like solo comics.
Maybe one comic series with a revolving and rotating cast of characters could help bridge the gaps.

They should have done this for #0 month. Actually give every title a double length issue to tell the backstories of characters. Maybe an annual to shed further light on the history of characters.

They accomplished that nicely with History of the DC Universe after Crisis on Infinite Earths. I wouldn't mind if they did something similar now.

That's a good idea for a comic, but I wouldn't call it New 52. I'm already kind of sick of those two words. Plus, it's been over a year; it's not really the "New" 52 anymore.

There was a stretch back in the early 90s when Action Comics was an anthology series, like it originally was, instead of a Superman book. I'm not a fan of multiple titles for one character, so I think it would be nice if they did that again for Action and Detective. Make Action a general "Tales of the DCU" and Detective an anthology of noir/pulp/horror stories.

I mean, no one but me would buy it, but I think it would be really cool.

I don't know what the comic would be, but if they could somehow bridge the gaps I think lots of people would be happy, but maybe some people wouldn't.

Does DC sell The Hawkman Omnibus Vol. 2? I have vol. 1, but I can't seem to find vol. 2.

I blame DiDio. I would've kept reading DC Universe Presents if not for that Challengers of the Unknown story that bore his cancerous touch. I skipped that story and intended to pick it up again after DiDio was gone, but then I forgot and now it's canceled. Direct causation if I ever saw it.

When did all of Geoff John's magic with Hawkman and Hawkgirl start? Kendra's first appearance?

Pre-Crisis: His ship was battered and crashed after Abin outsmarted and fought off a Parasitic threat that had taken over his body.

Post-Crisis/Emerald Dawn: Qull scared Abin into flying a ship with a prophecy that stated his ring would fail him when he needed it. He flew through a yellow radiation belt near Earth that he would have tested had he been solely relying on his ring. While his ring was powerless, he was attacked by Legion.

Secret Origin: Same Qull segment as before, but Atrocitus is the one mortally wound him after he is freed due to fear weakening Abin's ring.

Red Son: His ship is the Roswell UFO.

Superman: The Animated Series: Sinestro is killing Lantern's and stealing their rings. Abin is one of them.

Justice League: New Frontier: Caught in a spacecraft explosion on his way to face The Centre.

Green Lantern: First Flight: Wounded after getting undercover on a mission after Kanjar Ro.

Does he have a book currently? If not is he appearing in any books?

I happened to catch this weeks Young Justice, does the character of Black Beetle exist in the books? I'm pretty sure the green beetle martian was/is ton specific?

What are the best Jaime trades?

I've not read any comics in years

Yes, Black Beetle does exist. Don't think the Green one does though.

Anything written before the soft reboot. When his book was supposedly awesome.

See, I realized that Johns stopped writing Hawkman after the issues included in the big book I mentioned. So I thought go backwards. Back to where the Hawkman reincarnation started.
Can anyone tell me where that was introduced? Was it when Johns started writing him? Was it when Kendra was introduced in DC comics as Hawkgirl? Or was it when Hawkman returned to the JSA comics or his own solo series? Was it in an issue of JSA? Can anyone tell me?
