The Official Choose A Director Thread

Didnt Singer have a contract with 20th Century Fox?

WB's need to realise they dont know whats best. Look at Batman & Robin I mean yeah luckily Batman Begins andt he Dark Knight came off the back of that but they nearly destroyed the Batman franchise. All they care abouts is selling merchandise off the back of these films if they're so bothered by the toys they sell they should just do a Superman and Legion of Superheroes movie I bet the kids parents would shell out tons on the toys they would make from that. Surely they realise with the freedom they have given Nolan on Batman, Superman would benefit from having its own Nolan.
They gave Singer all the freedom he wanted, he was supposed to be Superman's Nolan, and it came back to bite them in the ass. I really doubt they would risk it again.

They have to know when to butt out though thats all Im saying. I really hope they have interests in making a great film and not just a great toyline.

yea i stated over in the director's thread on my thoughts on raimi. So check what i said there for my opinion.

Honestly, I think most of the suits just flip out and see $$$ signs when a crazy pitch is handed to them...Proof?? Look at Burton's mess of a film that almost was..who in their right mind would greenlight that junk unless they knew ZERO, nada, about the character.
I would bet that most, but not all, of the suits know the very bare minimum about not only superman, but all the DC characters. That is a scary thought.

Personally, I'd want either Edward Zwick or Alfonso Cuaron to direct the next Superman movie.

Its a good job they've gotten those 3 DC writers in to help them out really.

Well, he was channeling a little bit of Superman in his Spidey films and he's a solid director, so, sure they should. I doubt they will, but they should.

You re right, but as of late most of DC's comic book writers have taken advisory roles for the movie projects. I even heard that they'll plan a big strategy about their future movies.
I mean, was that so hard to do? Up until know they let people who had no idea about the characters run the show and they never had a strategy. Even Nolan would have ****ed up if he didnt have Goyer with him. He was about to remove the cape and grapple gun from Batman and fortunately Goyer convinced him otherwise.
So... for all of us DC fans, thank god for Marvel for showing the way!

Yea I agree. More comic book films should get the actual writers on board in some kind of advisory capacity.

If it was Sam Raimi's idea for the twist story line in SM3, than I say hell no....... He is going to change some major plots that made Superman Superman, like making Will Smith Superman

I'd be happy with someone like the John Favora, guys like him who come from an independant film background tend to focus more on character and story, that's what supes needs, but also solid action and adventure. So if you could find another favora i'd be happy.

Neil Blomkamp

With the script written by Ronald D. Moore, David Eick, and Jeph Loeb.

Source material- Superman: The Animated Series, Superman Birthright, and Superman For All Seasons. Throw in a dab of Golden Age Superman.

I need to head over to Warner Bro's and tell them to do this my way.

Not surprised by the cameo in GL getting yanked, frankly. Then again, I'll be surprised when and if GL actually starts filming...

As for Raimi tackling Superman...meh. I liked the first Spidey movie, but I could barely get through the second one.

yea i been saying that for awhile take aspects from the best known/well loved things for superman combine then and with an original story we could have a solid superman there.

yea i am glad its not going to happen, like i said before when it first was talked about its a nice idea but with superman going nowhere it isnt right.

THANK YOU!!!

i was getting pretty sick of hearing people say how great S2 was, when i found parts of it very dragging and awkward to watch.(where's your sense of humour gone, parker?)

the first one was much better.

I've always thought it would fun for to take my camcorder and an equally stupid, belligerent friend and "invade" Warner Bro's in try and save DC comic book properties from either not being made or being made horribly. I could wear clothes and vanity items with the symbols of certain DC comic book characters(other than Batman) like my Superman t-shirt, a Flash wristband, a bag of plastic green arrows, some scuba diving pants representing Aquaman, and claim that the DC properties were POW's and that I was there to set them free from torture and opression. Roll up to the studio with Chard Kroger's Hero blaring and on repeat, a briefcase full of my fanfic scripts and treatments, going straight for Alan Horn.
