The show has no real buzz or excitement around it now. The rating shows that it's (hopefully) found it's level and secured a dedicated audience.

It'll no doubt drop below 1.0 by the spring, get a renewal and have a final fourth season on a different night/slot, while FOX moves on to Black Lightning.

Things may be worse for Gotham when Supergirl comes back. I know the two shows didn't seem to hurt one another last season, but being on CW means Supergirl figures to have a much younger demographic split. It could draw more viewers from Gotham even if its numbers are lower than last season's in absolute terms (and they almost certainly will be).

unrounded prelims and half hours

Gotham: 1.224 (1.260, 1.188)
Lucifer: 1.339 (1.318, 1.361)

Lucifer may adjust up to a 1.4 in the finals.

The fact that Gotham lost viewers at the half hour, then Lucifer got them back and grew in both of its half hours, basically shows that people went out of their way not to watch Gotham.

I will be watching Gotham over supergirl but i think writing is on the wall.

Gotham will be renewed for fourth season so they will have enough for reuns and then fox will likely dump final season on friday.

Well at least it's fun when it lasts (no sarcasm at all, I really enjoy most episodes).

If Gotham ends at Season 4 then instead of letting Bruce stay in Gotham and train maybe they will let him turn 18 at the end of Season 4 and leave the city to travel, which is a nice ending tbh; I'm really OK with that.

At the moment I am in a bit of soul-searching regarding if I should drop my Gotham coverage at Doux Reviews or not.

They introduced this change in order to have Ivy hit on Bruce Wayne (evidence.) Apparently they thought we're happier having Bruce being wooed by someone twice his age than someone six months his junior. They were mistaken.
Nowhere there does it say that she's going to hit on Bruce. You have no evidence. In fact, I think David Mazouz said something about her not being like that or something. Can anyone here find that interview? Have a very great day!

God bless you all!

If you'd bothered to check the links in the post you responded to you'd seen that I included the one where David says that. Or, rather, "it's not going to be a romantic relationship, necessarily."

As for not having any evidence the official character description of Ivy - which they have since done their best to play down, and which I linked - was how "now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne." Isn't that clear enough?

@famicommander: Gotham adjusted up to 1.3, Lucifer stays at the same. There must have been something quite wrong with the unrounded prelims for that to happen.

It's possible there was some kind of overrun one way or the other. I think Lucifer will still be higher when the unrounded finals come out, but a 1.3 is a much better start for Gotham either way.

This episode is proving to be a nightmare to review. I don't think I'll be done until Thursday.

It doesn't say anything about her hitting on him or a romance at all. There could be, but that's not confirmed there and it isn't evidence. Why would I look at all the links? I was only replying to that one.

Aren't you capable to link one part of a sentence together with one other? As in, "harnessed the full power of her charms", -> "sets her sight on Bruce Wayne"? Exactly what is the implication here?

The point is this - it is very unlikely that there will be a romantic relationship between Bruce and Ivy. That's because when that angle leaked - and before that - there was an outcry. There were two levels of damage control. The first was to "sort of" deny it would happen - "not necessarily a romantic one." The second was playing up the Batcat angle in a clear attempt to further appease the fans of the show. I showed those three links to illustrate that fact.

... and the bottom line here is that the show, as noted by a poster above me, has failed to generate any positive buzz over the hiatus. It's generated negative buzz, both by this and because they'll clearly fail to bring back Jerome this season (not that I much mind the latter.) It's alienated the parts of the fanbase (me included) which would serve to create the positive buzz.

Anyway my review is nearly done.

It was an Ok start to the new season, I like what they are doing with Cat, and Fish;'s band of misfits look interesting.

Though one of them looks eerily similar to Quicksilver on Age of Ultron.

As usual Oswald is the best part of the show. And cra cra Barbara is ever so much more fun than victim Barbara. I can see her becoming Gotham's version of Harley Quinn.

If Gotham does get cancelled, is it possible to be scooped up by another network, or does Fox have such a stranglehold on everything Batman that would effectively be impossible?

Batman is owned by WB. If we were to come to a situation where Fox could no longer renew it, it would be possible for another network to pick it up.

We'll get two seasons out of Fox, of that I am more or less certain. I also feel I may have been a little too doom-and-gloom about the premiere, but we'll see how it develops. I mean, it's hardly impossible to imagine a scenario where they want more. But I guess CW might be a possibility too.

And I'm the same, I dearly want the show to succeed.

I read somewhere that the TV rights to Batman are owned by Fox. Movie rights by WB. I could be wrong. That's why I ask.

If they brought in a young Clark Kent for an episode or two. I can see a big ratings spike.

I still have an idea how it would work for Clark and Bruce to meet

-Bruce and Alfred are at a museum taking in the paintings

-Clark's class from Kansas is visiting the museum

-Gotham robbers hold the museum goers hostage.

-Clark and Bruce formulate a plan to take down the criminals
