The Official Superman Casting & Discussion Thread

And, again, no offense to those people, but unless they're involved in the production crew in some way, they don't know jack.

Easily one of the most clueless things I've heard here. By that logic, someone like Finke who's well known for being an indoors person doesn't know anything.

So since you're bringing up names, how about we get the name of the hinters? Or how about some examples where they've actually hinted at something and it turned out to be true?

The WB Superman Reboot 3.0: Christopher Nolan Edition thread (subsequently merge with a couple of others) was opened by Showtime about an hour before word broke out of his involvement. Plenty of posters here will vouch for that.

I do believe Showtime knows stuff in the industry, and his credibility isn't questioned too much because he's been here for a while, but people were crying reboot ever since Returns was being made.

And the others who are dropping hints? How about we get their usernames here and what credible news they've had?

As I have said before....or unless they know someone who works for the production crew, Warner Brothers or know any of the actors in question. If you think information is strictly limited to production crew members you are sadly mistaken. :cwink: People involved with projects such as this will generally keep it within their ranks and those that they trust to not say anything. I have had inside information shared with me going back to the 80's that I have never breathed a word of to people.

You wanted an example. You got one. Now you're *****ing for more? AKA clearly no answer is good enough.

I'm sorry I wasted my time.

Ofcourse no answer is good enough for people who like to bury their head in the sand because they don't like whats going on.

****loads of denial going on in X-Men: First Class thread right now.

"Latino Review made it up," my ass. If any website has earned the benefit of the doubt, it's them.

i'd bet real money that hammer is on the shortlist..now that doesnt mean he'll get it mind you, but he could.

I just did some reading up on that situation and I have to say that that Promo pic was awful, no wonder Fox freaked out. lol

So the X-fans are freaking out about that and Latino Reviews story about how troubled the production is?

Oh fanboys...:awesome: Got to love em.

I never said any of that.
You can "know" all the people you want in the production, at WB, actors, etc but know that they are not the end all be all news source for whats going to happen.
Did any of the sources leaking out Spider-Man 4 news see a total reboot of the series coming? No, because they don't know everything.

I mean, I appreciate these "hints" if they turn out to be true, I was just wondering if anything you guys have hinted at before(if at all) has turned out to have any merit is all.

Maybe I should have been more clear.

I hope this wasn't directed at me.

Someone's saying LR made it up?
I just read that X-Men stuff and thats juicy as hell. It's funny that the studio lied about the picture.

Wouldn't be the first time Fox did it.

It depends on who the source is. Some people have pretty reliable sources that they will never reveal, but are spot on. I have stills sitting in my email for an upcoming CBM movie that were sent to me from a "source" a month prior to those images being released to the public. I don't take everything I am told at face value from the various people I know, but there are certain sources I trust implicitly. If I hint at anything here, it means I have information that I trust and if someone doesn't believe it, no loss of sleep for me.

Spiderman 4 was rumored to be a reboot since it was first reported they were doing another one, so not sure I am following you on that one.

If something that was hinted at here did have merit, how would you know that it did have merit unless we reveal a confidential source? Kind of a Catch-22 when you look at it. I can tell you that I know Cavill or Routh will not be cast as the next Superman and when they aren't cast, someone can still say it was a chance guess.

Again...you can believe what you want, but to say some people that hint at inside info are full of crap...that be taken as a personal insult. :cwink:

I would hate if my skepticism caused you loss of sleep.:oldrazz:

At first that's what fans were wishing and then reports of returning cast, and then John Malkovitch and Anne Hathaway joining the cast as the Vulture, and his daughter Felicia Hardy who would become Vulturess. And as b.s. as the reports sounded, the actors themselves confirmed it.

Didn't really expect anyone to lose sleep over movie news, I'm just curious as to why some here are willing to believe "hints" or whatever from some random poster(s) is all; And still, no one has been able to give reasons why.

So I think I like Spencer Conway now. I was watching Leverage last night, and he was in a scene with Sophie. I didn't even know it was him at the time, I immediately thought "whoa, that dude could be Superman."

I didn't know it was Conway until I saw his name in the credits.

That Curt Swan Superman has kind of an Armie Hammer vibe going on.

Curt said his Supes was inspired by Tarzan actor Johnny Weissmuller:

This to me is the most Superman looking pic of Armie Hammer:

And of course he WAS cast as Batman, and it has long been a part of the comics lore that Superman and Batman can pass for one another.

I'm a Cavill supporter but if Hammer was cast I wouldn't flip out.

Well, I only have one thing to say to that.

Exactly.

Fanboys need to remember how stupid and foolish they looked when Ledger won multiple awards and an Oscar for his performance as The Joker, after most of them cried and whined about how "terrible" of a choice he was. :o

Christopher Nolan knows more than all of them. :word:

Dark Knight, how about you look up some of the Superman suits that manippers should use because your greedy complaints are annoying.

Wow. The ONE time I say use a different suit and it gives you a headache?

Poor babies.

I was NOT attacking anyones work on here or in the manips forums....I was attacking the SR suit and whoever designed it. Guess peeps just don't know the difference.

The SR suit still sucks! Thats a fact....:word:

The one time you may have said it in this thread(which I doubt), but it isn't the first or only time where someone has fulfilled your request and you b**** about the SR suit being used.

And I know I'm not the only one it gives a headache to when a mod even has to tell you.
Here's a suggestion....if you don't like looking at manips of people in the SR suit so much....make some manips yourself instead of screaming at the people who take the time to make them.

The SR suit had issues yes, but it didn't suck, unlike your posts.

Yeah that is one of the pictures that convinced me that he is a potential front runner for the role. I haven't seen Social Network or anything else he has apppeared in so a couple of weeks ago I searched YouTube and watched clips/interviews of him. A still shot only tells part of the story. When you see Hammer talking or showing a range of emotion he definitely has confidence affability (good for Superman) and a sense of gravitas about him.

Armie looks young for sure, but Reeve was about the same age when he landed the role. He really doesn't look like Reeve which for a reboot could be a plus, but I think with good makeup, a brilliant costume and a little more bulk he could pull it of.

You're right but Armie Hamer look like the young Clark Kent in the superman movie.

See the difference there? Reeve WAS young, but Hammer LOOKS it. Reeve had a mature, masculine face. He didn't look that young at all, which is why he looked the part. Hammer looks exactly as young as he is, and that's the problem, imo.
