Well, when i read that Anne Hattaway must lose weight, the nose criticism seem almost fair t:

Agreed. The man is WIDELY considered good-looking (the only guy who was able to make fangirls forget about Alexander Skarsgaard for a while. Just look at the reactions whenever he appears on a talk show or something), so it's not like the nose makes him "too ugly" for the role or something. It actually compliments his face when you see him in motion, imo.

I agree, and especially so since it's something easily fixed if needed..

No to Joe M. He looks like an ape. He is totally wrong for Supes. After watching all 4 seasons of Madmen, imo John Hamm is the perfect superman, his presence, acting skills, good looking without looking like a pretty boy. But the acting is the most important thing and he is great. That's something all this kids have been mentioned here lack, all of them:Joe M. , Cavill, Hammer, Routh, Cudmore and specially Welling. This time we need a superMAn not a superBOy.

There's really no point in discussing Hamm any more, he's already said he's not doing the role.

Ditto, because imo, he really looks like somebody who lived in a farm and he has a "Rocky" quality, not saying that Superman is Rocky, but i like to think also of superman like somebody who never give up, and fight even if it mean his death.and joe really looks like somebody who could kick ass and then some.

We never saw that rugged superman quality onscreen before, and i think that would be one of the way to really break from the Reeve mould.

Totally agree. I want to see a Superman this time who's actually threatening looking when he's angry. After all, he is the most powerful being on Earth.

I liked Routh in Superman Returns, but there was nothing intimidating about him whatsoever ......... I never felt a sense that if he let loose, he could really hurt the bad guys.

Obviously for the most part Superman is written as a patient and protective person and not someone who walks around looking threatening all the time, but for anyone who's seen Manganiello on True Blood acting as Sooki's guardian, you'll know he comes across that way anyway.

But get him angry, and Manganiello really looks like he could do damage

I'm not saying he might be right for the role, but he's not an ugly dude. And of all people to bash his looks..geeks? Come on.

This really surprises me. I know we all have different opinions, but what is that you like about Joe M. that he can bring to Superman? I really can't find anything positive about him.

Tall, muscular, black hair, square jaw. It's easy to see why some people like him. I just don't like the vibe he gives off. In fact he reminds me of David Boreanaz.

He would be a great Tarzan. In fact that whole wild man look works for him. I think that's why I don't like him for the role, I don't think he would look good as clean-cut Superman.

On the other hand he is a Carnegie Mellon graduate with a degree in ACTING.

It is a VERY common occurrence here that if someone does not like an actor, they quickly jump on the "cannot act" thing. – its an excuse, they don’t like someone for some OTHER reason, and yet state "he cannot act".

Whoa whoa whoa, calm down. I have nothing against him, I've never said anything about any problem with him. He's funny on How I Met Your Mother, but he just isn't a good actor. Next time you try and rant about something try quoting someone that's actually part of the group you're ranting about. If they cast him, I'll give him a chance in the part. As of now, I've yet to see him do anything good.

And I don't have a "First choice" Joe just isn't someone I think could pull off the part.

Your name rung a bell with me, I'm pretty sure you were the guy who was always moaning about Smallville until a mod had a word with you, so I searched through your recent posts. And I was amazed to find that almost all of your recent posts are negative, sarcastic, or criticising other poster's suggestions.

As one of the people that mentioned Joe's nose that was the only negative I could think of and it isn't a dealbreaker for me either. I think a more manly rugged Superman is long overdue and Joe fits those requirements perfectly. A nose job would take 4 months to a year to heal so forget that. Anyhow with makeup they can hide a lot of stuff, so Joe is very likely in with a shot.

JM sure seems like the unconventional choice someone like Nolan would select, and as producer he'll have some say. If as is rumored he is the front runner they probably already tested him and he fit in with the filmaker's criteria for the role.

Hamm is out by his own admission, and Routh is very, very unlikely to be back since this is a totally fresh take on the franchise. But good luck with that anyway.

I would love Eric Bana as Jor El, he has some similar facial features to Joe Manganiello, and exactly somebody that i would see in the role. And Craig as Luthor would just be the cherry on the cake
