The Official 'Thor Rate & Review' thread - Part 3

Must we rush headlong into Ragnarok already? I say save that for 3 at least. So much left of the Simonson run to cover. Not to mention the early days still have a few tropes left.

Although I'd rather save Ego for the FF, Thor has just as much claim, if not more to the Living Planet. There's also some classic stuff left with Grey Gargoyle, Absorbing Man, Mr. Hyde, and so much more.

But if we must rush headlong into Ragnarok then at least use 2 to set it up. Something with Balder and Hela. Throw in Amora flip flopping and Skruge sacrificing himself at that bridge. Throw in Loki at the very end and then have a cliff hanger with Surtur destroying the Bifrost.

Sets up 3 quite nicely.

heh don't forget there have been a few "FAKE" Ragnaroks. :D

Or... maybe it was an affirmation of the things said before?

Get the chip off your shoulder, son.

Thor was fun. I was mad when I had to see it in 3D, but to my surprise, the 3D didn't bother me... because nothing came out of the screen. Why was the movie even in 3D?

I thought Asgard looked magnificent in 3D, but the Earth scenes could've done without it.

Well BigThor for one, but I was using the "we" in a generic sense.

But I get the sense that you're just trying to pick a fight with me.

:D

How was I rushing when I clearly said I like to see it in Thor 3 and I was only responding to a previous post about it.

So what are you talking about?

Careful BT, you don't want to pick a fight with him :P

TIH still felt in continuity with that line to me, he said the scientist was never heard from again, so TIH was probably happening at the same time as Thor.

I'm with you. I suppose it is a matter of interpretation, but even though they probably won't release another solo Hulk movie for a long time, it was never Marvel's intent to just write him out of continuity, if that was the case they wouldn't of replaced Norton and added Ruffalo to the Avengers, plain and simply it felt like little wink to fans, and just because Dr.Selvig wasn't aware of Banners current situation means nothing.

Well I was considering that you wanted Thor to be King already. Odin goes down fighting Surtur during Ragnarok. I presumed you wanted to move on to King Thor.

Making Thor the King already, in my opinion, is rushing it.

How is making Thor the King in Thor 3 is "rushing it"?

Odin doesn't have to die for Thor to be King, hell, Thor was about to be king at the beginning of this film.

He could easily just descide to step down and appoint Thor as King when he think's he ready, it doesn't have to be EXACTLY like the comics.

I know it doesn't have to be just like it, but I'd prefer Odin go out like a boss than convalescing in a back room somewhere drinking warm goats milk.

Plus making Thor the King pretty much ends his career on Earth. I want Prince Thor the Bold who wanders the Nine Worlds kicking ass, not sitting at home discussing trade agreements with the Dwarves.

As I said... just my preference.

I finally got around to seeing this movie last friday and I freaking loved it. It was exactly what it set out to be. Fun with big action. I got my money's worth and the 3D made it even better. Chris Hemsworth beyond surpassed my expectations as Thor and Tom Hiddleston brought Loki to life (probably could have used a little more smiling and grinning but hey).

I hope to god that Thor and Hulk but heads in Avengers cause after the Frost Giant fight I was left wanting more big time mano a mano action. My only issue with the movie was the pacing. The movie felt like it could have been longer and taken more time to breathe. Some more time in Asgard would have been great. Heimdall was badass but I was left wanting more Warriors Three. I can go on but I like to keep these things mercifully short. I enjoyed myself. That's what matters.

9/10 Definitely up there with The Incredible Hulk as my favorite Marvel flick. It's a tie between those two (with Iron Man being my least favorite. And I LOVE Iron Man. Iron Man II was the more entertaining movie though. Less set up.). I'm hoping for my favorite Avenger Captain America to surpass them all but we'll see. So far the commercials don't nearly showcase what he can do.

I am definitely seeing this again.

Didn't see it in 3D. Quite enjoyed it but wasn't blown away amazing either. I would be up for a sequel. 8/10.

I think I'm addicted to this movie. Saw it again for the 3rd time today & I have tickets to see a saturday Imax showing.

It was a joke. Thats what was said to me when I brought up pretty much your same point.

I finally saw it today and I thought it was brilliant! One of the best Marvel movies so far.

True, fighting Surtur is a much better way for Odin to go out, but I still wanna see Thor kick some ass with the Odin Force.

You have a VERY good point there, but Thor is quite a bit younger than Odin, so he'll probably be alot more "active".

Well if you had Ragnarok with Odin as king, with him dying, then you can have Thor 4 like JMS's run, with Thor resurrecting Asgard on Midgard, as the king. That way he COULD still be involved in Earth.

Also, I personally think they designed Asgard in the films in a way that they COULD do that one day. Asgard in the film seems a lot more self contained than it was in the comics, where it was a whole land. You could totally picture the MCU Asgard hanging in the air, like Angel Island from Sonic 3 :P

That's pretty good idea, I love JMS's take on Thor, it's one of my favorite Thor run ever.

Plus if they go this route then we could probably get an epic Thor vs Bor fight as the climactic battle.
