The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 10

I'd like to think the folks at FOX would be smart enough not to reboot the FF a second time after the disastrous response and tens of millions in losses from FFINO. But if we look at some of the recent decisions lately regarding Marvel adaptations - Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix starring Jennifer "Mystique" Lawrence, The Sony Spidey Supporting Character Non Connected Cinematic Universe (SSSCNCCU) and ABC's SyFy Quality Inhumans - and it appears as though logic doesn't play a role in decision making once you have live action rights to a character that's appeared in a Marvel comic book. I'm sure that "Fantastikids & Their Funky Unkys" will be the Citizen Kane of superpowered tween movies.

The word for today kids........OVERSATURATION.

This was my fear a couple of years ago going towards the end of this decade and beginning of the next. 4 studios building universes from Marvel/DC material. We got comic book fans that can't even stomach some of these possible ideas.

Exactly. We've gotten lucky this year with Logan, Wondy, GOTG2 and SM:H. But we have a whopping EIGHT Marvel adaptations next year along with Aquaman and the Incredibles, plus a dozen or so TV shows, and there's no way the market is supporting that many comic book adaptations.

I used to be a completist of the "It's not contradictory!" TV side of the MCU as well. But I was disappointed with Luke Cage and haven't bothered watching Iron Fist. I'll watch Defenders, what will probably be the last season of AOS, and Punisher as well. But I have no interest in Inhumans, Cloak and Dagger, Runaways or New Warriors.

Luke Cage was "ok" but Iron Fist was a huge disappointment. Defenders and Punisher are really the only things I am looking forward to as of now.

Inhumans look like trash and its a shame it ended up on ABC.

I selfishly hope all 6 are X-MEN related.

2019 - X-Force & Gambit
2020 - New Mutant's II, Deadpool III, X8 (20th Anniversary Celebration)
2021 - Either Alpha Flight, Excalibur, or Exiles (But realistically a 16 year old Dafne Keen Wolverine Movie)

Deleting the 4 from Marvel Heroes and the team not reassembling for Marvel Legacy are pretty indicative that one of these six movies is a F4 movie.

I'm done with this ****.

Yeah.... that ain't a good sign at all.

**** you, Fox. Petty and useless as it may be, I was going to see War of the Planet of the Apes but I'd rather not give them anymore of my money from here on out.

Of course there had to be a negative counter to Homecoming's reception. Can't have too much of a good thing.

I wonder if FoX needs permission to cross over Fantastic Four villains into a X-MEN movie?

Same conditions that prevent an FF/X-Men crossover would apply to any characters bundled with each, so yes, they would.

True, but I'm saving money by skipping all of Sony and Fox's crap next year anyway. And Aquaman isn't a guarantee either. So other than BP, IW, and Ant-Man 2, plus Incredibles 2. There's really no CBM over saturation for me.

That's why from now on my cinema money go to Marvel Studios only.
Marvel cinema, sure. Homecoming is only getting a pass because of Feige and RDJ. That other crap by Sony and Fox means nothing, not even Deadpool.

But with Wonder Woman turning out good and with Whedon running things for the DCEU I do have more excitement there.

X-Men are not in the upcoming Capcom video game as well so I wouldn't say the merch or comic shut outs is a reaction to anything Fox is planning with these films.

Odds are Marvel doesn't know what they are gonna be either. Fox can plan ahead without Disney being in the loop until the scripts need to be scrutinized to make sure Fox ain't doing something they are not allowed to.

Personally I didn't mind seeing Deadpool & Logan in the theatres as the WOM was great and while I thought the latter was a bit over rated I enjoyed DP a lot.

DC...I saw Man of Steel and BvS in the cinema but that's been it (both were let downs). Gave Suicide Squad a miss and having seen it a little while back on cable don't regret that one bit. WW sounds good, but not got round to seeing it.

But if Fox do try another FF I'm done with them completely. I don't care how well a Marvel film from them is received the only way I'll see it before it hits my cable is if you put a parrot on my shoulder and call me Jack Sparrow.

Until Fox shows me that they're interested in making a FF movie because of the property's actual potential, and not as a callous means of holding onto the rights, count me out.

Make no mistake. 20th Century a Fox is perfectly capable of delivering a great FF movie. But much like Logan, Deadpool, and the Apes trilogy, it would require a filmmaker with passion and vision and the studio putting complete trust in that passion and vision.

X-MEN started the entire crossover fighting genre and theyve been involved in every single Capcom produced Marvel game since 1994 on Super Nintendo. But now all of sudden they are being shut out?

No need for that pal. I'm just saying at this stage Marvel probably do not know what these untitled films are, so assuming the shut outs are a direct response to this announcement seems pretty unlikely, imho.

If they'd come after the announcement the idea would have more weight, but the game ommisions were announced before Fox rattled it's sabre.

Try quoting the whole post you are responding to next time. I said then Marvel ain't likely to know any more than we do about these films.

If this were a fictional story that I was reading, Fox making another attempt would be a good plot twist. If nothing else, following this possible production should be dramatic and interesting.

As real life though, it is a damn shame. It's about time that this story starts wrapping up.

Forward momentum on anything FF-related all but guarantees that they'll never get another penny out of me. Which won't be that hard considering that Deadpool 2 is the only Faux-Marvel film coming up that I'm even marginally interested in.

This is just funny to me. I see all the MCU movies regardless of being Team Fox. THE MCU people boycot the fox films.

Has the MCU ever royalled ****ed up characters you love? Have they done it three times in a row, getting worse each time?
Worst of all, did they do so only so their accountants could fill out a balance sheet and they as a corporation could hold onto an IP?

Not seeing movies you don't think you'll like makes sense to me. I'm still going to see Deadpool 2 since 1 was so great, but the rest seem really iffy the way they are heading and there is no way in hell I will see another Fox F4 film.
