The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - Part 13

The Doc has definitely come into his own since he started wearing the gloves. Loved all the teleportation tricks. Great scene.

I already enjoyed Strange's progression in Thor: Ragnarok. I can't wait until we see more of him.

I'm betting that even if the whole shebang deal falls, at least the FF rights, if not the SW, Xmen, and Avatar (pending approval of Cameron) would go to the Mouse in a side deal. Maybe a few others. I'd say that the lulls are both sides trying to maximize any profit if the main deal falters out on such side deals, which should not, especially in the SW and Marvel IP's, cause regulatory heartburn, as those would be going back to the original (Marvel/Lucas) IP holders.

Amen.

I just hope it happens soon, so that plans to intro the F4 in Phase 4 can start with certainty, and not just a distant possibility.

We've heard Feige talk about 'contingencies' in the past. I'm sure he has Plan A and Plan B depending on what happens, so he should be able to react quickly.

Once they have the rights, I wouldn't be surprised if they slipped some quick scene into whatever film they're shooting at that point to start to set things up.

How long was it from when they announced the Spider-Man deal until he was on-screen in Civil War? As I recall, it wasn't long at all.

Sure, I was thinking about the same thing. But it would be better if their inclusion is a sure thing, so nothing has to be rushed.

Remember all the confusion and reshuffling that Spidey's inclusion caused? I hope that can be avoided in the future, so we don't have any further casualties, ala Inhumans.

Exactly. Just like a chess player: planning several moves ahead, and anticipating your rival’s potential moves.

The announcement was made February 9th 2015 (emails were leaked December 2015), and CW came out May 6th 2016.

I would have liked to see Reed and Doom introduced as college-aged geniuses in Infinity War, but it's probably too late for that (though maybe they could still slip them into the second one).

But Captain Marvel in the 90's with the Skrulls (and maybe a super-genius boy Reed Richards) or Ant-Man exploring the micro-verse or Spider-Man meeting Johnny or GOTG3 ... creative people could probably find ways to start introducing characters in any of the upcoming films.

So ... Fox just announced a Multiple Man, starring James Franco.
Please, Disney. Buy them!!!

Well if Disney doesn't buy them, I can't imagine how Fox will be able to squeeze an FF film in with all the X-Men films they have in various phases of development.

Wow I though you were trolling.

It's like 1 step forward (Logan) and 2 steps back (Apocalypse), with Fox.

If your going to do a solo movie with an X-men character, why not use someone that has a higher profile like Storm, Nightcrawler, Beast... (Even that doesn't feel right)...ugh

But if Fox are really interested in doing a deal will they want to start throwing money at films and franchises that they expect to have sold before the films are finished. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of foot dragging by Fox when it comes to a lot of their future X-Men films that are yet to start production.

If in a present day film I'd have them introduced as adults, but yet to become the FF. Doom would be around, but in the shadows about to launch his takeover of Latveria*.

With CM in in the 90's, and dealing with Skrulls, a reference to the theories of a young genius concerning FTL travel would be neat.

*My pitch for bringing the FF into the MCU would be that Reed has been around all this time, but consumed in his research into FTL space travel. Ie: He has had a working theory since college, but no means to make a ship capable of using it.

That changed with Avengers and after the tesseract was lost he got Shield backing to make an FTL drive ship (Earths government seeing the value in having something capable of taking a fight to the enemy, rather than waiting for an Alien invasion to turn up on our doorstep), but that got pulled after Winter Soldier and the collapse of Shield.

Reed was however able to make enough headway to pursue the project, albeit slower, with finances from his own resources/inventions, and post Infinity War he has a working prototype ready to test out (short test runs with animals aboard check out fine). Not being a secret government venture the maiden voyage makes all the headlines and that draws Doom's attention, who harbouring his long standing grudge with Reed, sabotages the ship.

On the test flight it goes wrong, with the ship threatening to explode due to Doom's tampering, but Reed quickly spots the problem and corrects it. However they have been taken off course and on emerging from FTL at the wrong destination they get exposed to exotic cosmic radiation and the ship is damaged travelling through unknown space littered with asteroids (later to be revealed as passing through the remnants of a planet Galactus has consumed).

With Reeds smarts and Ben's piloting skills they manage plot a course back to a Earth for a messy landing, and their powers manifest soon after emerging from the crash. While all that has been going on grabbing the world news attention, Doom, wanting to settle all old scores at once, launches his brutal takeover of Latveria and reveals himself to the world as it's new ruler.

Shenanigans ensue...

Or something like that :cwink:

Hey, Simon Kinberg's driving the bus, so I'm sure all of this will come together in a sublime, cohesive unit.

:hehe:

Yeah, this announcement could be very specifically designed to make Feige pull his hair out and say: "Stop them! Give them whatever they want! We just need to do this fast before they do any more damage."

Has Simple Simon even been vocal recently?
No more stupid interviews?

That's an interesting point. They've wrapped on Dark Phoenix, right? While I haven't been specifically looking, I haven't seen much, if anything from the set.

Bryan Singer used to send out little teases, and I've seen a lot from Deadpool, but DP (oops, unfortunate initials:o) seems pretty quiet for what should be a pretty big, enthusiastic production.

Maybe they've learned from his catastrophic interviews for 4stic...

As little as I think of FOX execs, I still can't believe they gave him Dark Phoenix.

I'm so mixed, because I know Kinberg well enough to expect it to be a complete train-wreck, but I want it to be good and successful enough that they'll be making Dark Phoenix 2 and 3 and completely forget about FF.

... hoping Kinberg will make a good movie is like hoping Kim Jong Un will start acting sane.

I'm hoping if the buyout happens that movie never even gets released.
They can do a direct to video if they want to make some of the money back, but not in theaters.
