Am I the only one excited about that one scene from CA: TFA where they have Johnny's suit on display in the Stark Expo and assuming it somehow ends up with Howard Stark being involved in a FF story?

I know its far fetched but until an actual movie is announced and details come out, I am gonna pretend that Chris Evans will also play the Human Torch in a FF movie set in the 1930s. :D

That wasn't Johnny's suit.
That easter egg was about the original, golden age, Human Torch.

OH well.. at least I want Chris Evans to play a Johnny who takes up the legacy mantle with sponsorship from Howard Stark. :D

They didn't have Johnny's suit on display in CA: TFA. They had the original Android Human Torch's entire body (not suit) on display. The original Human Torch from the 1940s was Jim Hammond. Nothing to do with Johnny Storm or the FF.

I certainly think that the space race story would still fit, infact it probably fits better today than it has any time since the 60s with the privatisation of space being worth billions.

I was thinking about the Kirby esthetic of Reed's tech and I did wonder it it could be done by having Reed be someone tends to look at things differently because he is just that smart. Someone that could cobble together tech that would leave people wondering how it could work. So one day he would strip the answer machine because he needed to borrow parts and the next day rebuilds it using an espresso machine. Just as happy with a tablet as stuff right out of a Jules Verne story. It would open up his tech to looking pretty weird at times.

I was not saying setting the Fantastic Four in the 60's couldn't work, because I think it could. However, I think it could work equally as well in current day. When it is placed does not define the characters as much as provide a historical back drop. With Captain America it is more important, because the 40's is more inherent to his character traits of selflessness and sacrifice. Where as in today's society it is all about what's in it for me, which is not him at all. With the Fantastic Four their theme is more about Family, and that is a theme that is timeless and again people from today can relate to it now as much as in the 60's. Therefore, they won't feel out of place coming from any Era really.

At least that's how I see it.

Yeah, it's a tense situation for me... I need to see these characters finally at home.

For me it's more about finally making Marve(mostly) whole again. I am a sucker for world-building and my favorite comic book as a kid was "The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe" that ran from 1983/84. I have all 14 issues and it's the pride and joy of my admittedly rather modest comic book collection. Without the X-Men and the FF especially, it just feels incomplete me, and since the FF was basically the start of the Marvel Universe that I fell in love with, I REALLY feel like they NEED to come home. So close ....

I totally get it, man. It just doesn't feel complete without them (and, of course, without my favorite, Silver Surfer :woot: )!

Oh, I love these handbooks and encyclopedias. I just started to collect them!

I love that kind of stuff. Those original books I have don't have a ton of collector value but they are priceless to me.

Note: Silver Surfer is awesome! I think there's a fair chance he could end up being in GotG 3

*Fingers crossed*

About Surfer, if that happens, I will be equally pleased. It should be a hell of a introduction, imo.

Silver Surfer will probably be the first movie of the returning IPs

You and me both brother. This pins and needles stuff is for the birds.

I really hope that when we do get the announcement, there'll be some actual details to the report, and not just "Yup. Disney bought 20th Century Fox... 'kay bye!". I guess after seventeen years, though, I know I'll be ecstatic either way. Beggars can't be choosers!
