It seems that the articles I am reading are indicating that Comcast has too high a debt load and without investor intervention won't be able to proceed.

What investor would want to pursue the potential takeover knowing that your partner in the acquisition is in financial difficulty to begin with?

FFINO defenders. They will want to help out in any way they can to prevent a true FF film being made. :o

The FFINO crew have set up a Gofundme for Comcast. They've already raised $6.16 of their $100 billion goal. :woot:

If they didn't insist on spending their money to watch Fant4stic ten times, they'd have more money to support Comcast now.

I'm psyched for the FFINO 2 release coming this year. I haven't been following it cause I don't want to be spoiled, but I know for sure they gave it a 2018 date just before the first one was released.

The reviews for Ant-Man and the Wasp are looking pretty good, so maybe Peyton Reed has earned a shot at FF.

I was just browsing Ask Reddit, and one of the questions was "What major company would you like to see fail and why?"

Guess what company I was saying to myself before I clicked on it....

Guess what company was also the top answer....

My wife couldn't give two s***s about the FF rights, but she hates Comcast.

I know how we feel about Comcast, but I guess because of my inexperience or something I didn't realize they were the source of such ire from the general public. And that phone call proves it- probably the most infuriating eight minutes of my life!

Comcast are very well hated for good reason. I had their service for years, and the less I had to talk to them, the better.

Was it EA? They are number 1 with a bullet for me.

The Comcast person sounds like someone who is desperately begging to not be dumped when someone is about to break up with you. It's like a guy or girl who keeps asking "Why? Why must you break up? What is it about me that you don't want?"

That's probably what Comcast are going to be harassing Fox about if they accept Disney's offer instead. "Why? Why must you go with them? What is it about us that you don't want?"

I really hate how Fox has given Comcast a month to counter Disney's offer, but what can you do? I still have faith that Disney will win the bid and own Fox over Comcast, though.

Comcast's window is closing fast. If they really want to stay in this, they should have said something last week. They wouldn't need to submit a formal offer, but they should have at least said: "We're working on a new bid we will submit shortly."

Such a statement could have put a hold on things, but with the absence of such a statement, Fox has no choice but to continue with the process and try to wrap this up (they've already been delayed three weeks by Comcast's interference).

Bids are being printed and mailed. Shareholders are booking flights and reserving hotel rooms. If Comcast, without warning, submits a new bid in mid-July, they'll be straining the patience of even the most pro-Comcast Fox shareholders (and Comcast's own shareholders). At that point it will look like Comcast is just trying to disrupt the process, possibly without a serious intent to even close the deal.

If Fox senses that Comcast will not be submitting any counter offers, then they should move up the vote instead of waiting 4 weeks for it imo; it's in everybody's interest to try to wrap this up as soon as possible.

Oh wow, just listened to that phone call...that makes Comcast look real bad. Anyone else have that kind of experience?

We've never tried to cancel, but their service is absolutely terrible. Service outages are common. Their standard cable boxes are antique and clunky (and I'm not going to pay for their higher end box and service). Periodically, their On-Demand service simply doesn't work.

And when you call to try to address any of these issues, they're useless. The answer is typically to trade in your cable box (at one of their locations that have long waits) or have someone come out to work on things (in which case you have to take off work to baby sit while they fumble cluelessly).

They have real problems with their technology and their ability to keep that technology functioning. But they have a government enforced monopoly. I can use alternate services to get most television channels etc. but if I want local sports and other local programming, I'm stuck with them.

You should call them up to cancel and then record it and post it here for us to listen to your frustrating conversation as they beg you not to leave and offer to throw in Fant4stic for free when they buy Fox.

The longer the silence from Comcast continues the better.

I set last Friday as a key date. I felt that if they had any serious intention of making another bid, they needed to say something by Friday or risk having Fox shareholders forget about them as they went about the business of closing with Disney.

It's still not over, but I feel confident that at this moment, Comcast doesn't have immediate plans to offer another bid.

That could be because they're having trouble raising money and/or because there is disagreement among members of the board, but I think at least one of those two things (and possibly both) is standing in the way of another bid.

But even so, things could change. New money could be freed up or the hold-out board members could be convinced to bid one more time.

But I believe that if they had a clear path to another bid, they would have let people know that so that the process wouldn't go too far before they had a chance to offer that bid.

If Comcast get to each of the Fox board members and convince them to vote against Disney, it could go their way. Maybe they'll use mafia-like techniques normally used for swaying a jury.

You can't get local programming with Dish Network or Direct TV? Those sound like Cable commercial talking points from the 90's.

I personally never experienced any serious issues from Comcast cable. Only minor irritants.
I've never tried cancelling before but my buddy has and all that happened was that they greatly reduced the price he had to pay for it. Which begs the question, why were they charging so much in the first place?

Ok back on topic. Suck it Comcast. Time to raise the white flag and give up. The FF belong with Marvel.
